Avowed Best Fighter Skills
The best skills for the Fighter Skill Tree in Avowed are Charge, Barbaric Shout, Devastating Criticals, and Stunning Blows.
The Charge skill can be unlocked right away and allows melee builds to quickly charge enemies, stun them and break down block. It’s an essential mobility tool that can be used all the way until end-game. Barbaric Shout is one of the strongest buffs in Avowed, increasing the amount of stun you to deal to all targets significantly. Devastating Criticals is a strong passive that boosts Critical Damage by up to 60%, and Stunning Blows is another passive to significantly boost your build’s stun potential.
Avowed Fighter Skill Tree FAQ
1. Is the Fighter skill tree good for beginners in Avowed?
Yes, the Fighter tree is the most straightforward starting point in Avowed. Charge is available immediately and gives you reliable mobility and stun from the very first fight. The tree’s passive survivability skills, including Constant Recovery and Toughness, are helpful for players who are still learning the combat system, making the Fighter Tree a strong choice for any difficulty.
2. What is the difference between a Shield build and a Two-Handed build in the Fighter tree?
Both are viable but play very differently. A Shield build centers on Shield Bash, Unbreakable, and Reflect, prioritizing blocking, crowd control, and countering ranged attacks. A Two-Handed build centers on Brawn, Devastating Criticals, and Stunning Blows, prioritizing raw damage output and stun accumulation with axes, great swords, maces, and hammers.
3. How important is Stamina management for the Fighter tree?
Stamina is the core resource for Fighter builds and needs active management throughout the game, particularly in the mid-game before you have invested in Armored Grace and Unbreakable. Resolve is the primary attribute for increasing your Stamina pool, and Heavy Armor without Armored Grace will quickly drain it. Prioritize Armored Grace early if you plan to wear Heavy Armor, and consider Deep Breath as a reliable skill for extended fights.
4. Is Dual Wield Mastery worth investing in?
Dual Wield Mastery unlocks a more powerful Special Attack against Stunned enemies while dual wielding, which makes it a useful complement to any stun-focused build. Its value depends entirely on how reliably you can stun enemies before triggering the Special Attack.
5. Does the Fighter tree work well in a hybrid build with Wizard or Ranger skills?
Yes, and it is often stronger in hybrid form than as a pure build. Fighter pairs particularly well with Wizard skills like Arcane Veil for damage reduction and Corrosive Siphon for health sustain, creating effective Battle Mage builds.
6. Does the Anniversary Update change anything for the Fighter tree?
The Anniversary Update did not alter the Fighter skill tree directly, but it added more ability and attribute points through New Game Plus, which means you can now invest more deeply into the tree across a full playthrough.
