One Bar Sorcerer Sets
Our primary set on this build is the Sergeant’s Mail set – undoubtedly the strongest Heavy Attack set in the game in terms of raw damage output. Remember that this effect has a stacking mechanic and you must maintain all 4 stacks to receive the highest damage.
Since the Solo Sorcerer has so much built-in survivability, you can easily run another offensive set which also buffs your heavy attack damage such as the Storm Master set. Even though most of our abilities cost Magicka, running this medium armor set is no problem thanks to our infinite sustain using Heavy Attacks. And Bonus: More Armor for better defense!
The Oakensoul Ring is our go-to Mythic Item that packs a punch for one bar builds, delivering many powerful Major and Minor buffs, and in this case the Heavy Attack buff “Empower.”
With only one gear piece left over, it makes the most sense to run a 1-piece monster set bonus here. My favorite option is the Slimecraw set, as it gives a sizable bonus to Critical Chance.

One Bar Sorcerer Alternate Sets
For alternatives, consider the Deadly Strike set which also buffs our Damage Over Time skills and Channeled Effects like the Heavy Attack from the lightning staff.

One Bar Magicka Sorcerer Race
My favorite race for this build is Khajiit due to their passive Health Recovery bonus. Other great options include High Elf thanks to the extra spell damage, max magicka, and Spell Recharge passive. For more details on all ESO Races and passive bonuses be sure to check out our Full ESO Race Guide.
One Bar Magicka Sorcerer Mundus Stone
The best Mundus Stone for the One Bar Sorcerer build is the Thief Mundus Stone. This option provides a ton of extra Critical Chance, especially when paired with Divines armor traits. This is ideal for the build because it allows your skills to deal more damage, plus it also helps to more consistently proc your Sorcerer Critical Surge heal for passive healing.

Increases the Critical Strike rating by 1333
With 7 Divines armor pieces
Increases the Critical Strike rating by 2167
One Bar Magicka Sorcerer Food/Drink Buff
The best food/drink option for this build is Betwitched Sugar Skulls, thanks to the massive amount of stats it provides including Max Health, Max Stamina and Max Magicka, plus additional Health Recovery for improved survivability.

Bewitched Sugar Skulls
Increase Max Health by 4620, Max Stamina and Magicka by 4250, and Health Recovery by 462 for 2 hours.
These effects are scaled based on your level.
One Bar Magicka Sorcerer Potions
The best potions for the One Bar Magicka Sorcerer are Tri-Stat Potions or Armor Potions. Thanks to using Heavy Attacks we have basically infinite sustain, and our basic damage buffs are also covered by The Oakensoul Ring, leaving you with options for increased survival.

Tri-Stat Potions

Basic Increase Armor Potions
Bugloss, Mountain Flower, Mudcrab Chitin
Sorcerer Subclassing Build Skill Lines
This build uses Subclassing for maximum effectiveness. The recommended skill lines for this build are:
Notes: Storm Calling and Assassination are recommended for Subclassing on the One Bar Sorcerer build. The third skill line is optional and you can use Daedric Summoning here if you are more comfortable with a large shield or Grave Lord for more damage and penetration.

Sorcerer Subclassing Skill Explanations
- Elemental Susceptibility – this is your basic Major Breach debuff skill which can be used without subclassing to debuff enemy armor and increase your damage against them.
- Unnerving Boneyard – this is the best skill you can use to debuff enemies in the area, both with Major Breach and Minor Vulnerability, reducing their armor and increasing their damage taken.
- Critical Surge – your main passive heal as a Sorcerer, that heals you back every second when you deal Critical Damage.
- Wield Soul – a powerful damage shield option you can use through Scribing if you decide not to use Hardened Ward.
- Hardened Ward – this is your best damage shield option, giving you a huge shield which can be great for solo content.
- Unstable Wall Of Elements – incredibly important AOE damage skill which can set your enemy off-balance. Off Balance results in greater heavy attack damage for a few seconds, so make sure to use this as often as possible.
- Relentless Focus – Use this Nightblade skill for a powerful burst damage tool that can also heal you back to full health if used in melee range.
- ULT: Elemental Rage – this is a solid damage ultimate from the destruction staff skill line if not using subclassing.
- ULT: Greater Storm Atronach – your main sorcerer ultimate which summons a large storm atronach into combat
- ULT: Soul Harvest – use this Ultimate if you want the best damage possible against a single target, as this amplifies all of your damage by 20% for 5 seconds.
- ULT: Glacial Colossus – this is the best Ultimate if you want to deal AOE damage, stun and debuff enemies. I recommend you use this for clearing groups of enemies faster such as clearing dungeons solo or grinding experience.
Subclassing Sorcerer Rotation
Buffs
This build is so easy! All you need to buff with is your potion and Critical Surge.
Rotation
Start by casting your shield, then follow up by casting your armor debuff, either Unnerving Boneyard or Elemental Susceptibility. Cast Unstable Wall Of Elements and Heavy Attack, continuing to land heavies in between casts as you refresh your abilities.
Use Relentless Focus to fire off a Spectral Bow when you need additional damage or healing (it does both).

Magicka Sorcerer Class Mastery
Players that reach level 50 in ESO while also fully reaching Rank 50 for their class skill lines and not subclassing can use 2 Class Mastery passives to improve their build. For the Sorcerer class I recommend Font of Power which increases your Weapon and Spell Damage based on the higher of your Max Magicka or Stamina and Static Reverberation which gives you a chance to deal additional shock damage.

Font of Power
Within you is a wellspring of near unlimited power.
Effect
Upgrades rank 2 of Exploitation to work with any Sorcerer ability and increases your Weapon and Spell Damage by 16% for 10 seconds. The Weapon and Spell Damage increases by 1% for every 1750 Max Magicka or Stamina you have, whichever is higher.

Static Reverberation
The battlefield crackles with untapped potential. Make use of it.
Effect
When you deal damage, you have a 5% chance to deal 747 Shock Damage, up to once every 0.3 seconds.
The chance increases by 1% for every 1% missing Health the target has. The chance is divided by 1 plus every permanent pet you have active.
Companions
If you like playing Solo, this build can benefit greatly from using Companions! While any Companion set up can be helpful, a Companion that can buff our heavy attacks as well as provide additional shielding will be best for this build. I recommend Bastian Hallix for Companion on this build with the set up below. More information on Companions Builds and Skills can be found in our detailed Companion Guides section.
Recommended Gear
- All Light Armor – Quickened Trait
- Restoration Staff
Recommended Skills
- 1. Basalt Barrier
- 2. Searing Weapons
- 3. Skeletal Aegis
- 4. Starfall
- 5. Vanish
- 6 ULT. Unleashed Rage
Additional Skills
The skills below may also be helpful in other situations.

The AMPLIFIER Build is a fantastic build for Bastian Hallix, one of the new Companions available to ESO players starting in the Blackwood Chapter. This build utilizes multiple buffs in order to amplify your own damage and defense potential. This build has tons of utility and will help you progress through many different forms of content!
