Category: Best ESO Builds, Best Sorcerer Builds, Solo Builds
The BATTLEMAGE Build is a Unique HYBRID Solo build for The Elder Scrolls Online, mixing Two-Handed and Lightning Staff Skills with powerful Sorcerer Class Abilities and Elemental Magic for an extremely fun and potent build!
Primary Sets
This build utilizes Mother’s Sorrow to maximize our Critical Chance which is an extremely important stat for the Sorcerer class.
To push our damage even higher, Tzogvin’s Warband can add more Critical Chance and Offensive Penetration as well as free Minor Force, increasing our Critical Damage done while also saving us a bar slot.
Next, the Prior Thierric monster set is a great option for Hybrids, especially those with an AOE focus like the Sorcerer class.
Finally, though not required, the Wrath Of Elements Staff from Vateshran Hollows provides a nice bonus for using Elemental Drain on the backbar to increase the overall damage output of this build substantially.

Mother’s Sorrow
LVL 50 – CP 160
SET BONUS
(2 items) Adds 1096 Maximum Magicka
(3 items) Adds 657 Critical Chance
(4 items) Adds 657 Critical Chance
(5 items) Adds 1528 Critical Chance
Tzogvin’s Warband
LVL 50 – CP 160
SET BONUS
(2 items) Adds 657 Critical Chance
(3 items) Adds 657 Critical Chance
(4 items) Adds 1487 Offensive Penetration
(5 items) When you deal Critical Damage, you gain a stack of Precision, increasing your Critical Chance by 177 for 5 seconds, up to 10 stacks max. At max stacks, you also gain Minor Force, increasing your Critical Damage done by 10%. This effect can occur once every half second.

Prior Thierric
LVL 50 – CP 160
SET BONUS
(1 item) Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
(2 items) Dealing direct damage with an area of effect ability creates a 6 meter shadowy whirlwind below your enemy for 7 seconds. Enemies within the whirlwind take 1297 Physical Damage each second and increase their damage taken from your area of effect abilities by 5%. This effect can occur once every 15 seconds.
Wrath Of Elements
LVL 50 – CP 160
SET BONUS
(2 items) Casting Weakness to Elements on a target within 15 meters of you causes a surge of elemental energy to tether between you for 10 seconds. While the tether persists and you remain in range, enemies touching the tether take 2371 Flame Damage, 2371 Shock Damage, or 2371 Frost Damage every 1 second, which increases by 1% each time it deals damage, up to 20%. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds.
Alternative Sets
For alternatives, any set that provides high critical chance stats will be a decent option for the Battlemage Build. For example, Leviathan is essentially the Stamina version of Mother’s Sorrow and can be run along side that set for a big Crit Chance bonus. You may also consider using a more defensive set such as Hexos Ward, especially when completing Solo content. If not using Tzogvin’s Warband be sure to slot a skill for Minor Force such as Barbed Trap.
For alternative Monster Sets, Stormfist or Valkyn Skoria also perform very nicely on this build.

Leviathan

Stormfist
LVL 50 – CP 160
SET BONUS

This effect can occur once every 8 seconds. The Shock Damage dealt from this set bypasses Spell Resistance.

Race
For the best all-around sustain for this build, I recommend using the Imperial race. To increase the damage of this build, Orc, High Elf or Dark Elf will be your best option. Khajiit is also a nice option due to their critical damage passive. For more details on all ESO Races and passive bonuses be sure to check out our Full ESO Race Guide.

Companions
If you like playing Solo, this build can benefit greatly from using Companions! This Solo build will benefit the most from the additional healing and defensive options a tank focused Companion can offer, so if you are going to use a Companion I would suggest a full tank build for them. I recommend Bastian Hallix for Companion on this build with the set up below. More information on Companions Builds and Skills can be found in our detailed Companion Guides section.
