Nightblade Class Overview
The Nightblade Class is an extremely powerful way to play in The Elder Scrolls Online. Nightblades have many powerful abilities located in their dedicated Class Skill lines for DPS, for Healing, and for Tanking. Nightblades are a great choice for dealing damage, mobility and healing, and are very fun for both PVE and PVP content in ESO. For a more detailed guide be sure to review our ESO Nightblade Class Guide.
Best Subclassing Stamina Nightblade Sets
Our main damage set on this build is Tide-Born Wildstalker, a powerful crafted set that boosts all of our direct damage versus monsters. Since this is crafted, you can create any weapon or armor combination that you want, though I recommend Two Hander for access to a powerful shield skill.
We’ve combined this with another damage oriented set that is also craftable called Order’s Wrath. This set focuses on Critical Chance and Critical Damage which is a perfect fit for the Nightblade class.
The Oakensoul Ring is the go-to Mythic Item that packs a punch for one bar builds, delivering many powerful Major and Minor buffs and ensuring that you have a simple one bar rotation with no bar swapping required!
Finally, any Monster Set can be used to make up the final slot on this build but I recommend using one piece of Slimecraw for some additional Critical Chance.

Alternate Subclassing Stamina Nightblade Sets
For a more defensive approach to solo content, try replacing either of the crafted sets above with the Hexos Ward set which creates an automatic damage shield when you deal Critical Damage. This will help greatly with your survival, as it creates a strong damage shield without you needing to think about it. This effect can be further buffed by Champion Points.

LVL 50 – CP 160
SET BONUS
(2 items) Adds 657 Critical Chance
(3 items) Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
(4 items) Adds 657 Critical Chance
(5 items) Dealing direct Critical Damage grants you a damage shield that absorbs up to 12305 damage for 6 seconds. This effect can occur once every 7 seconds.

Subclassing Stamina Nightblade Race
My favorite Race for this build is Khajiit, thanks to their bonus stats and especially bonus critical damage and healing. Other great choices for this build include Orc or Dark Elf for more damage as well as Nord for better resistances. For more details on all ESO Races and passive bonuses be sure to check out our Full ESO Race Guide.
Subclassing Stamina Nightblade Mundus Stone
The best Mundus Stone for the Solo Stamina Nightblade is the Thief Mundus Stone which helps to amplify our Critical Chance even further.

Increases the Critical Strike rating by 1333
With 7 Divines armor pieces
Increases the Critical Strike rating by 2167
Subclassing Stamina Nightblade Food/Drink Buff
The best food or drink buff for the Solo Stamina Nightblade is Artaeum Takeaway Broth, which boosts all of our most important stats including Stamina for increased damage, Stamina Recovery for sustain, and Max Health and Health Recovery for increased survival.
If you wish to save some gold, then Dubious Camoran Throne is nearly as good of an option, just without the Health Recovery bonus.
Lava Foot Soup and Saltrice is the best option for sustain but shouldn’t be needed in most cases.

Artaeum Takeaway Broth
Increase Max Health by 3326 and Health Recovery by 406 and Max Stamina by 3080 and Stamina Recovery by 338 for 2 hours.
These effects are scaled based on your level.

Dubious Camoran Throne
Increase Stamina Recovery by 315, Max Stamina by 2856 and Max Health by 3094 for 2 hours.
These effects are scaled based on your level.
A dessert cocktail of jagga, rotmeth, and sweetbread puree. Definitely Green Pact compliant.

Lava Foot Soup-and-saltrice
Increase Max Stamina by 4936 and Stamina Recovery by 493 for 2 hours. These effects are scaled based on your level.
Subclassing Stamina Nightblade Potions
Basic Stamina Potions are fine for the Solo One Bar Nightblade for most content, as we get our most important buffs from the Oakensoul Ring Mythic. However, for more challenging content, Tri Stat Potions are the best option because these also restore Magicka and Health, helping sustain your Magic skills or help with survival.

Subclassing Stamina Nightblade Skills Explanation
- Killer’s Blade: single target execute ability which does massive damage spikes as your enemies health gets lower.
- Brawler: powerful damage shield skill which increases in strength based on the number of enemies hit.
- Unnerving Boneyard: use to debuff nearby enemies with Major Breach and Minor Vulnerabilty, plus gain access to powerful Necromancer class passives via Subclassing.
- Reaper’s Mark: useful for Major Breach and Major berserk to debuff enemy armor and increase your own damage if not using Subclassing Necromancer.
- Skeletal Archer: deals very consistent DPS for the full duration, plus adds an additional corpse that can be used to empower Unnerving Boneyard.
- Swallow Soul: this provides incredibly powerful healing over time, up to 10K health every two seconds. Make sure to keep this effect active. You also gain access to the extremely good Siphoning Skill line passives by having this skill slotted at all times.
- Surprise Attack: your main single target DPS skill. Should be used primarly against bosses and elite enemies while you charge up your ultimate or Relentless Focus.
- Power Extraction: use this when trying to quickly clear packs of enemies as a solo player.
- Relentless Focus: a good burst damage skill which pumps out big damage and also big healing. Still very helpful for solo content and can be used as a semi-execute because of the huge damage it does.
- Reverse Slice: this can be used to quickly execute groups of enemies for clearing through trash packs quickly.
- ULT: Incapacitating Strike: this is your best ultimate for pure damage against a single target. Make sure to use as much as possible to greatly increase your DPS.
- ULT: Soul Tether: use Soul Tether for more difficult content, especially with multiple challenging adds that you need to stun, plus gain extra healing.
Subclassing Stamina Nightblade One Bar Rotation
Begin with Swallow Soul to get a strong heal over time effect. Next, cast Unnerving Boneyard to set up your area Major Breach and Minor Vulnerability. Spam Surprise Attack as your main DPS skill. Use Relentless Focus when ready or build up to 10 stacks to unleash more bow procs at once. Use Incap Strike as soon as it’s ready, then finish enemies with Killer’s Blade.
Notes
You MUST light attack between each ability to charge your Relentless Focus – don’t forget! Heavy attack as needed for sustain.
Slot Brawler for more difficult content to gain access to a strong damage shield skill.

Stamina Nightblade Class Mastery
Players that reach level 50 in ESO while also fully reaching Rank 50 for their class skill lines and not subclassing can use 2 Class Mastery passives to improve their build. For the Nightblade Class, I recommend Above and Beyond which increases your Critical Damage and Critical Healing potential along with An Eye for Exploitation which increases your Weapon and Spell Damage and reduces Damage Taken based on your target’s missing Health.

Above and Beyond
An assassin is only as good as their reputation.
Effect
Increases your Critical Damage and Healing by 25%. This effect is reduced to 5% against targets with Battle Spirit.
Increases your maximum Critical Damage and Healing by 30%.

An Eye For Exploitation
Every strike, every stab, is a step towards execution.
Effect
Increases your Weapon and Spell Damage by up to 2000, based on your target’s missing Health. Reduces your damage taken by up to 20%, based on your attacker’s missing Health.
Both effects are halved against targets with Battle Spirit.
Companions
If you like playing Solo, this build can benefit greatly from using Companions! This Solo build already has amazing defense and self-healing, so I recommend using a Companion that can provide more damage. A great option will be Ember set up as a DPS Companion. More information on Companions Builds and Skills can be found in our detailed Companion Guides section.
Recommended Gear
- All Medium Armor – Aggressive Traits
- Bow
Recommended Skills
- Viper’s Bite
- Piercing Arrow
- Crystal Blast
- Starfall or Shocking Burst
- Sniping Silver or Vanish
- ULT. Raging Storm
Additional Skills
The skills below may also be helpful in other situations such as trash pulls.
Full Companion Build: LIGHTNING ARCHER
The LIGHTNING ARCHER build is a strong option for Ember as a DPS Companion in The Elder Scrolls Online. Ember’s skills are similar to that of the Sorcerer class, so she is especially adept at dealing damage, both AOE and Single Target and this combination of Bow Skills and Magic is STRONG!
Champion Points
Below you will find the recommended Active and Passive Champion Point Stars for this build, broken down into 300, 600, 900, and 1200 CP ranges.
