The KNIGHTMARE Build is a unique look at the Stamina Templar, integrating strong and easy-to-obtain gear sets with powerful skills and passives. Ready to unlock EASY MODE?
Templar Class Overview
The Templar Class is an extremely powerful way to play in The Elder Scrolls Online. Templars have powerful Class Skill lines great for DPS, Healing, Tanking, and playing Solo. Templars are a great choice for any build due to their many great damage and defensive options.
For a more detailed guide, be sure to review our ESO Templar Class Guide located here.
Primary Sets
Our main damaging set for this build is Deadly Strike. This set is PERFECT for any Templar build including Stamina, Magicka and Hybrid load outs. This will buff our main DPS skill as well as all our other skills by a whopping 15 percent!
Next, I prefer to play this build with a defensive set for better balance. In this case, Hexos Ward works insanely well, protecting our Health Pool while our passive healing takes care of any extra damage that might break through.
While a full Monster Set is not needed on this build, using one piece can give a nice single bonus for one gear piece. I recommend Slimecraw to fill this slot.
Finally, while you can use any Mythic you choose with this build I highly recommend the Ring Of The Pale Order if you want to attempt more challenging Solo Content such as Veteran Arenas and Group Dungeons.

Slimecraw

Bleak heraldry covers the surface of this knightly signet. Those who place it on their finger feel a cold rush of power … and a deep, nagging paranoia.
Ring Of The Pale Order Lead Locations

Alternative Sets
For alternatives, you may prefer to run an extra damage set in addition to Deadly Strike such as Briarheart or Arms Of Relequen. You may also substitute the Ring Of The Pale Order for any other Mythic with a stronger damage focus such as the Sea Serpent’s Coil.

Briarheart
LVL 50 – CP 160

(3 items) Adds 1096 Maximum Stamina
(4 items) Adds 657 Critical Chance
(5 items) When you deal Critical Damage, you increase your Weapon and Spell Damage by 450 for 10 seconds. While this effect is active your Critical Strikes heal you for 100 Health. This effect can occur once every 15 seconds and the heal scales off the higher of your Maximum Magicka or Stamina.

Arms Of Relequen

Sea-Serpent’s Coil
LVL 50 – CP 160
SET BONUS
(1 item) While at full Health, you gain 40% damage resistance. After taking damage while at full Health in combat, you gain Serpent’s Rebuke for 10 seconds, snaring yourself by 40% and gaining Major Berserk and Major Courage, increasing your damage done by 10% and Weapon and Spell Damage by 430. The damage resistance does not apply while Serpent’s Rebuke is active.

Skills Discussion & Rotation
Buffs
Maintain Restoring Focus at all times and make sure to stand in it for the extra healing!
Rotation
Start on the Back Bar: Stampede, Carve, Razor Caltrops, Reflective Light, Restoring Focus, Carve, Barswap
Front Bar: Biting Jabs, Deadly Cloak, Barbed Trap, Biting Jabs x 4, Barswap
Notes
After the first rotation you only need to refresh Carve one time every two rotations. Use Radiant Ward for protection when getting attacked by multiple enemies. The more enemies the stronger the shield! Finally, save Repentance for when you need it, not after every single enemy.

Companions
If you like playing Solo, this build can benefit greatly from using Companions! This Solo build will benefit the most from the additional healing and buff options a healer-focused Companion can offer, so if you are going to use a Companion I would suggest a full healer build for them. I recommend Mirri Elendis for Companion on this build with the setup below. More information on Companions Builds and Skills can be found in our detailed Companion Guides section.
Recommended Gear
- All Light Armor – Quickened Traits
- Restoration Staff

The skills below may also be helpful in other situations such as trash pulls.
