Enshrouded Best Skills Overview
The Enshrouded skill system seems simple at first glance with a vast skill tree connected. This system allows for mixing and matching skill trees and nodes to develop your own unique build and playstyle. Skills are gained by leveling up or completing shroud roots and elixir wells. Currently, there are 184 skill points if you reach max level and complete all the roots and wells.
While we have customized builds with step-by-step leveling progression, this guide is intended to give you the most critical skills you should get and explain why.

10. Rebound

- Cost: 3 levels, 2 points each
- Description: Base Stamina Regeneration is increased by 10%. 10% Stamina Regeneration per level.
- Skill Tree: Survivor
- Why it’s S-Tier: stamina is used for everything, this gives you a 30% boost for 6 skill points total.
In Enshrouded, stamina is used for almost everything. Blocking, dodging, gliding, sprinting, and even double jumping! Over the past year, Keen Games did their best trying to balance stamina regeneration vs. spamming attacks and dodge to avoid every attack. Currently, the game is in a sweet spot where stamina martial or ranged users can maintain good damage while not running out of stamina.
However, the stamina issue manifests itself in prolonged fights at the end game level 45. Say you’re fighting the Fell Dragon Youngling or the Fell Monstrosity. These bosses are powerful and deadly in and of themselves, but you throw in extra adds and the fight becomes a nightmare. You’ll be constantly dodging, double jumping, and even gliding for safety. All the while, your stamina is draining without a potion to restore a bunch instantly, like health or mana.
The best consumable to counter this is using sweets which are short acting regeneration, but regeneration is turned off while you’re blocking or gliding. This is where Rebound passive skill comes in, found in the survivor tree.

The simplest way to increase stamina regeneration is through the Endurance Stat. The Ranger skill specifically is the best overall because it gives an additional 5% stamina regeneration and +2 to Endurance. This skill, combined with armor like legs and jewelry, can massively boost your stamina regeneration. Throw in one food choice and you’ll be well over 400. Why does this matter? 30% of 400 gives you a massive 120 increase. This is why you need to increase your rest and comfort, along with taking Rebound skills, if you feel lacking in the stamina regeneration department.
Last tip here, don’t perma-block! Stamina regeneration is cut off while you’re blocking (and sprinting), so try your best to timely block, dodge, even glide so you can constantly regenerate stamina.
9. Airborne

- Cost: 3 levels, 1 point each
- Description: Gliders consume 12% less Stamina. 12% cost reduction per level.
- Skill Tree: Assassin
- Why it’s S-Tier: great for exploration from Ancient Spires
Early in Enshrouded, you’re introduced to your first glider. You jump off a high ledge only to run out of stamina within a few seconds wishing there was a way to increase your flight time. Thankfully, there is the Airborne skill in the Assassin skill tree which can be boosted 3 times now since Update 8. This skill lowers glider consumption by a whooping 36% with 3 skill points invested! And if you’re new to Enshrouded, that can be lowered even further as you progress by obtaining better Gliders throughout the story.

I wanted to test the difference this 36% makes and it’s massive. Jumping off the top of an Ancient Spire gives you a huge runway where there are two factors to stop flying: your stamina and height. I was able to travel a vast distance with the Airborne passive, and there’s even another trick to go further if you keep reading!
Consider taking Airborne early in the game when you have unlocked a few Ancient Spires. It beats walking to gather salt for the 20th time when you just needed a few more seconds to glide to Egerton salt mines.
8. Begone!

- Cost: 3 skill points
- Description: A magic-powered punch that pushes back and stuns hit foes. Replaces your unarmed attacks as long as you have the necessary Mana available. Cost: 30 mana.
- Skill Tree: Trickster
- Why it’s S-Tier: on demand stuns that works on almost any enemy.
What if I told you there was a skill that could stun lock nearly any enemy in Enshrouded and it only cost three skill points? One does exist and it’s often overlooked by players because it’s in the Trickster skill tree and it’s called Begone! The skill requires you to attack unarmed, you know, Monk style! This is the oddest part about the skill, that you need a slot on your active bar without a weapon so you can trigger Begone’s effect.

Once you do, you punch the enemy stunning it for roughly two seconds. The upside of this skill is that it works on almost every enemy, and it doesn’t have a cooldown. That annoying melee fell that constantly harasses you using a sword and shield, yeah smash him in the face then pull back and rip off a huge Fireball. Rinse and repeat and that enemy is laughable.
The one thing you want to be aware of is that each punch casts mana. Begone is even useful on melee builds because of the stun factor, but constant punches can drain your mana quickly. Once you start using Begone punches, you’ll realize that it even works on bosses! Allowing you to stun lock or punch, peel back, and fire off range attacks until it gets closer.
The developers recently put a skill in between Ranger and Assassin called “Kick.” This allows you to kick an enemy while blocking. You fill up their stun bar based on your dexterity stat. This is meant for Rangers or Rogues who have high dexterity, but it’s an odd skill that is much weaker than Begone in my opinion. Why? Because most Overpowered or Merciless Attack builds are one-handed shield which block and parry attacks, not Bow users pew pewing from a distance.
Therefore, I’d strongly recommend Begone on any build where you’re struggling to deal with non-flying enemies. Swap to a spot on your action bar with nothing on it, and punch them suckers in the face!
7. Water Aura

- Cost: 3 levels, 1 point each
- Description: You emit a healing aura that heals you and all injured allies within 5 meters. The healing scales with your Intelligence attribute and restores 1 Health per 2 points of Intelligence. 5 meters range per level.
- Skill Tree: Healer
- Why it’s S-Tier: passively healing every second.
If you’re new to Enshrouded, healing at the start of the game (and even end-game) can be annoying. You can stack some gear sets that give you health back doing damage like Gemini Rings, health regeneration, bandages, and potions. But one of the simplest ways, especially for spellcasters is Water Aura in the Healer skill tree. In Update 8, Water Aura even got a cost reduction, requiring only 1 skill point to activate! This skill gives you and anyone nearby within 15 meters 1 health per second per 2 points of intelligence.

This skill has been nerfed throughout multiple updates because it was so strong originally, but it’s still very good at the start of Enshrouded regardless if you’re a spellcaster or melee. Even with base stats, you can get 4-8 heals per second which adds up over time and stacks with berries and bandages early.
If you want to use Water Aura later in your leveling process, make sure to take the adjacent skill Waters of Life which doubles healing to 2 health per 2 intelligence. At end-game level 45, you can get 20-22 intelligence, giving you a solid amount of healing per second, and it’s nice if you’re playing a group. Water Aura will not “stack” in a group so if you have four buddies running around, its best only to have one using this skill.
While Water Aura gets weaker as the game progresses, consider this a good skill point investment if you’re constantly dying from lack of healing. As you progress and get better items and consumables, this becomes less effective but still worth taking as there are so many skill points in Enshrouded currently.
6. Battle Heal

- Cost: 3 levels, 2 points each
- Description: Critical Strikes with Melee weapons heal you for 1% of your maximum Health. 1% of maximum Health per level.
- Skill Tree: Warrior
- Why it’s S-Tier: passive healing while dealing damage.
Similar to Water Aura, Battle Heal is the essential skill for melee damage dealers who need survivability. Since Update 8, this now costs 2 skill points with a maximum of 3 levels. Fully maxed out, this will result in 3% of your maximum health converted to healing. This doesn’t sound like a lot, but some melee builds with high constitution can run 1,800 health which will result in a decent passive heal.

The best part of Battle Heal is its able to stack with other bonuses like Water Aura which we mentioned earlier. You can stack tons of health regeneration, heal yourself with bandages, but there’s something even more OP than that, the Gemini Rings!

Found in Springlands Moth’s Grove, this overpowered ring grants 7% life leech. Unlike Battle Heal, you restore 50% of the damage you cause as health! The Two-Handed Axe build is capable of landing attacks as high as 4,000 damage. With one ring equipped, you’re getting back 2,000 health on a mega critical.
These numbers don’t happen all the time, but you do constantly see 700, 1,000 etc. This is where you become incredibly survivable on a melee build like the Barbarian. Stack as many passive healing bonuses that you can, and just keep swinging. Remember that Gemini Rings, yes plural, does work, so you’re doubling your chance at triggering huge healing. Stack two of these rings, Battle Heal, Water Aura, and 1,800 health and swing for the fences! The only thing that’s going to kill you is fall damage. Don’t worry, it gets everyone!
5. Miner

- Cost: 4 skill points
- Description: Mining resources has a 10% chance to grant one additional resource.
- Skill Tree: Center
- Why it’s S-Tier: helpful farming materials which every build needs.
If you’re playing Enshrouded, then you’re obviously familiar with the hundreds of hours you will spend digging into the earth for rare material. This is where the Miner skill in the center comes into play. With four skill points, you get a 10% chance for an extra resource. While this doesn’t seem like a huge bonus, it’s extremely nice playing when playing the end game farming simulator, where you need hundreds, if not thousands, of materials to not only upgrade your weapons, but get that house drip!

Like other skills, you can stack additional bonuses to help you with mining more quickly and effectively. First, make sure to always upgrade your pickaxe once you discover new material. The Gilded Pickaxe is the end game one currently and it has much more damage and lower stamina cost than the original. Next, take the Mason skill which is required to reach Miner. This helps increase the damage of your pickaxe by 30%.

If you’re at end-game, craft the Miner Helmet from the Blacksmith. This increases your mining strength by 15%! Quality Gear is also another good skill worth considering if you need a ton of ore or materials to upgrade your base or get a fancy new granite floor. It lowers tool damage by 50% so you don’t have to repair as often.
Likely you won’t have every single point into combat performance when you’re playing Enshrouded. Taking Mason and Miner are two you definitely need on every build.
4. Dessert Stomach

- Cost: 4 skill points
- Description: You gain one additional Food Slot.
- Skill Tree: Survivor
- Why it’s S-Tier: an extra food slot is a massive boost in damage or resource sustain.
One passive I take on almost all of my builds is Dessert Stomach in the Survivor skill tree. For four skill points, it grants an extra food slot. While that doesn’t seem that important, food was reworked and now grants a flat damage bonus to melee, magic, or range. While you have three food slots by default, at later levels, you’ll wish you had one extra slot for a specialty food.

For instance, if you look at a sample magic build food setup, you have Yellow Glow soup for regen, mana, and magic damage. Then you have tea for stamina regeneration so you can block, dodge and sprint. Then take a meat of your choice for health. While the Grilled Crab meat isn’t the best, those Crabs are just so tasty and let’s be honest, much easier to get than Eggs!
But with that fourth slot, you can increase your damage against the Fell with the Glimmer Tea. If you don’t want that, you can increase oxygen capacity for diving in Veilwater Basin or choose a regeneration food to help with sustain. Either way, the extra food slot is a massive boost to performance, but only take this at higher levels as a final polish to your combat performance, not the meat and potatoes (no pun intended).
One last note about food is, these buffs stack with others which allows you to create an unstoppable consumable machine:
| Prayer of the Flame Scroll | +20% Increased Fire damage |
| Elixir | +20% damage against Fell |
| Greater Skull Summoning Vessel | Summons a temporary skull ally |
| Ice Protection Lotion | +1 Ice Armor per Level for 30 min |
| Flask of the Fell | +20 Stamina for 30 min |
| Greater Shroud Survival Flash | +4 Min Time in the Shroud |
While some of these don’t last as long as food, if you need an extra boost to kill that annoying Wyvern or Alligator boss, these consumables will push you over the edge.
3. Updraft

- Cost: 4 skill points
- Description: Jumping while gliding lifts you, providing a height boost. This can be used once per flight. Cost 100 mana.
- Skill Tree: Assassin
- Why it’s S-Tier: helps explore while flying and jumping over terrain.
If you’ve ever played Skyrim or similar exploration-based RPGs, you’ll remember countless hours hoofing it up a mountain’s edge only to wonder, can I climb this thing? The answer is usually no and you waste your time pressing up on your controller until your thumb bleeds. This is where Updraft comes in, costing four skill points in between the Assassin and Trickster skill trees. When you’re in flight, you press your jump button, consume 100 mana, and bounce upwards in the air.

While the skill tooltip sounds simple, the results are amazing. You almost do an entire jump in the air, essentially extending your flight time by what feels like double. Since this skill is right next to Airborne, I almost always take them together. Now you gain increased distance and decreased stamina cost with two skills, greatly increasing your exploration.
Going back to the Skyrim analogy, you can jump off that same annoying cliff you’re trying to scale, double jump (more on that soon), then hit Updraft. Once you’re high up airborne, just rotate the camera and you’ll end up back much higher than before, essentially scaling the wall vs. trying to mine an entire mountain to prove you can “get up this one.”
A couple things to be aware of, one if the mana cost is steep. At 100, melee builds with small mana pools won’t be able to use this skill often. Keep a Wand with high regeneration bonus and equip it while wandering around with zero threat of enemies. You’ll passively regeneration mana helping you jump again quicker.
The next thing is, you can only use updraft once per flight. Meaning, you must touch down before using it again. Previous updates you could cheese this by animation canceling quickly in the air, and updrafting again. I used to carry mana potions and spam them leading to one massive glide across the entire map. No more, but it’s still an essential skill and you need it!
2. Blink

- Cost: 4 skill points
- Description: Replaces the Dodge Roll Ability With a Short Range teleport.
- Skill Tree: Healer
- Why it’s S-Tier: best movement ability in the game.
Like any good RPGs, your primary movement tool is the classic dodge. Yet Enshrouded features the obscenely overpowered skill Blink. This allows you to replace your dodge roll ability with a short range teleport for only four skill points. You still use stamina, at the same cost, but you gain a lot more distance.

If you look at the comparison, your character is one to two full body lengths ahead. Moreover, it feels (speculation) that your blink is a much quicker and smoother animation. The result, you are much more likely to spam dodge roll, create space, and avoid damage.
Something else to consider is taking the second skill for this ability called Emergency Blink. This allows you to break free from crowd control. Breaking free is particularly nice when an enemy or a boss has a stun attack leaving you vulnerable for seconds and likely dead. I’m looking at you fell dragon youngling!
Lastly, don’t worry about the damage Blink Attack skill. Now that it scales off of intelligence, the damage is insignificant, and you’re using it as a defensive tool not an offensive one.
1. Double Jump

- Cost: 4 skill points
- Description: allows jumping a second time while airborne
- Skill Tree: Center
- Why it’s S-Tier: you can’t live without this skill for exploration and combat purposes.
Every aspect of Enshrouded gameplay revolves around mobility. There is one skill to rule them all and that’s Double Jump which I take first in almost all my builds. It’s hard to grasp just how much this helps exploring and combat until you try the game without it.

If you look at the comparison, with only one jump, you jump up one layer. With double jump, you can jump an additional two layers! So, it’s not like you only gain 1-2 feet, no you get almost an entire second jump allowing you to access more environmental areas much quicker. This makes Ancient Spires and other puzzles a breeze.
Not only that, but double jump is a great skill in combat thanks to skills like Crash Down. Once you take this, you can slam down with a melee weapon and deal devastating AOE damage. What the skill doesn’t tell you is, there is a small crowd control effect with the strike, knocking enemies back and giving you a split second to deal damage or escape. Melee builds can be brutal if you’re new to Enshrouded and don’t know the OP secret rings like Gemini. Double Jump, Crash Down and Battle Heal are your path to huge survivability early.
The most busted exploration hack is double jump, updraft, and airborne combo. This allows you to traverse flat surfaces ten times faster. Simply double jump in the air and spam the jump button again to immediately pop up again thanks to updraft. You’ll then be high enough to glide for a long time. Once you land, depending on your resources, do it again, and again to traverse massive distances vs. sprinting for minutes.
Double Jump is too good to pass up on any build. Once you play with it, you will never play another build without it.
