Enshrouded 1.0 Combat & Magic Changes Overview
Enshrouded 1.0 brings nine new mage spells, a wand rework built around piercing heavy attacks and new skills, three new archer skills, three new eternal arrow types, and a fresh level cap of 50 for players and 55 for equipment. Mages are getting the most attention this update, with new crowd control and summon spells alongside 22 tier 7 eternal spell versions that skip ammo costs entirely. Wands and staffs also get new combo potential through a skill that rewards switching between them mid-fight. All of this arrives alongside a full skill tree reset, so don’t expect your current build to carry over once 1.0 goes live on October 15, 2026. For more examples, check out our video guide.
About Enshrouded 1.0
Enshrouded leaves Early Access on October 15, 2026, releasing out of Early Access simultaneously on PC and PlayStation 5. An Xbox Series version is planned to follow in spring 2027 rather than launching alongside the initial release. The 1.0 update brings a new biome, a higher level cap, and the combat and magic changes covered in this guide, on top of a long list of other additions the development team has been rolling out in the lead-up to launch.
Note: If you’re playing on console for the first time at launch, keep in mind that aim assist for ranged combat is enabled by default on controller and disabled by default on mouse and keyboard, so check your settings before you head out.
Mage Gameplay Improvements
The development team specifically called out mage gameplay as needing variety, and the fix is nine confirmed new spells covering crowd control, area of effect damage, and an entirely new summons category.
- Entangle – A root-in-place spell with area of effect potential, capable of trapping multiple enemies in vines at once and holding them in place long enough for a spellcaster to reposition.
- Blizzard – An area of effect ice spell that applies a damage over time effect and appears to slow or freeze enemies caught inside it.
- Ball of Lightning – A direct damage spell that adds another burst option to the mage’s offensive spell list.
- Pillar of Flames – A second direct damage spell, giving mages another straightforward offensive option alongside Ball of Lightning.
- Mana Drain – Siphons a fixed amount of mana per second from an enemy and adds it directly to your own mana pool.
- Summon Hollow Skeleton – Calls a skeleton into battle using a staff, forming the base of the game’s new necromancy-style summons.
- Summon Fire Totem – Places a fire-based totem that fights alongside you, expanding the summons category beyond skeletons.
- Summon Ice Totem – An ice-based totem summon that adds elemental variety to a totem-focused build.
- Summon Shock Totem – A shock-based totem summon rounding out the new set of elemental totems.
Two new skill tree nodes, Advanced Necromancy and Totem Mastery, increase how many skeletons and totems you can have active at once, which opens the door to a dedicated summoner build for the first time.
Existing and new spells are also getting expanded versions as you progress, so a spell you like early on doesn’t get phased out later in the game. In total, 22 tier 7 eternal spell versions are coming, and eternal spells don’t consume spell ammo to cast. Spells can now be upgraded similarly to weapons and armor too, with unique perks like reduced mana cost on the table. Mana costs and casting times across the board are being rebalanced around each spell’s actual damage output and usability, so a slow, powerful spell stays slow and a fast, lighter spell stays fast.
Pro Tip: If you’re planning a summoner-focused build once 1.0 lands, prioritize Advanced Necromancy and Totem Mastery early, since both directly increase how many summons you can field at the same time rather than just improving the summons you already have.
Wand and Staff Combat Changes
Wands were already a strong playstyle in Enshrouded, and the development team is reworking them further with a new heavy attack option that pierces enemies instead of stopping at the first target, along with the ability to interrupt weaker enemies mid-attack. Two new wand skills join the skill tree as well. Aerial Wand Attack triggers in midair for an area of effect hit, and Wand Evasion Attack adds a wider piercing projectile paired with a backward hop that creates distance from whatever you’re fighting.
Wand targeting is also getting a pass, with soft lock and hard lock both improved to prioritize the center of the screen and nearby enemies, separately tuned for ranged and melee weapons for more predictable target selection. Switching between a wand and a staff mid-combat has received numerous fixes as well, and wands can now target explosive barrels directly.
Blast and Cast is the skill tying wands and staffs together for players who want to combo between the two. Landing a critical strike with a wand increases the base damage of your next staff attack by 50% for the following 10 seconds, giving mage players a real reason to swap weapons mid-fight instead of sticking to one for an entire encounter.

Archer Skill Additions
Archers weren’t left out, even though the development team noted bows are already in a solid spot compared to other weapon types. Puncture increases ranged piercing damage by a percentage, Barrage gives bow attacks a percent chance to restore one point of durability to the weapon on hit, and Survival Instinct restores time in the Shroud when you defeat a Shroud-infested enemy using a bow or dagger. Beyond the new skills, the team also confirmed broader skill tree adjustments based on community feedback, including moved skills, reduced costs, and buffed effects across multiple weapon types.
Eternal Arrows
Eternal arrows are expanding beyond the existing eternal ice arrow with three new types: eternal fire arrow, eternal shock arrow, and bone arrow. Like the original eternal ice arrow, these are expected to draw from your mana pool instead of a limited ammo count, and they’ll be upgradeable with their own perks just like the new spell system.
Animation, Enemy, and Progression Changes
Outside of weapon-specific changes, the development team confirmed ongoing animation and movement fixes aimed at making character movement feel more realistic without sacrificing agility or responsiveness. Enemy variety is expanding across every faction, including the Fell and the Scavengers, with new heavy and elite enemy variants meant to keep encounters from feeling repetitive as you explore.
The level cap is rising to 50 for players, with equipment capping at level 55, tied to the new biome arriving in 1.0. That progression jump comes with a full skill tree reset, so make sure to revisit your skill tree and reslot your points before heading back out into the world once the update goes live.

The Final Word
This is one of the most significant combat updates Enshrouded has received, and mages in particular are getting the attention they’ve needed for a while. Take the skill tree reset seriously when 1.0 launches, since none of your current point allocations will carry over, and consider whether a wand and staff hybrid build or a dedicated summoner setup is worth building around now that both are genuinely viable. Keep an eye on the official Enshrouded site for the remaining pieces of the 1.0 patch notes as October 15 gets closer.
