Enshrouded 1.0 Update & Features
The biggest confirmed change for Enshrouded 1.0 is the Fell Dragon Youngling rework, which fixes health reset and stuck bugs, adds a ground phase for melee players and many more improvements to make the fight more manageable. Alongside this, Enshrouded is introducing proportion sliders for character creation, making your Flameborn less of a Hobbit if you want, along with major improvements to fishing.
Enshrouded releases out of early access on PC and PlayStation 5 on October 15, 2026, with Xbox Series X|S following in Spring 2027.

The Fell Dragon Youngling Rework
The fell dragon youngling has been the final boss in Enshrouded since early access launched, and Keen Games is open about the fact that this boss has been extremely frustrating for players. The 1.0 changes target both the bugs that made the fight feel broken and the underlying difficulty curve.
On the bug side, the developers are fixing two specific issues: the boss resetting to full health mid fight, and the boss getting stuck in an unresponsive state. Both of these have been common complaints, since either one can turn a near win into a wasted attempt through no fault of the player.
The arena itself is getting deeper so players fall off or get knocked off by the dragon’s wind gust less often. Keen Games is also adding a new phase where the dragon lands and melee builds can attack it directly without needing to land a stun first, which opens the fight up to weapon types that previously struggled to get consistent damage in.
Note: melee players can already reflect the dragon’s rock projectiles back at it to stun it, and the game does explain this, but Keen Games says a lot of players are not doing it based on player feedback they have collected. If you have been struggling with this fight, parrying the rock throws is worth practicing now before 1.0 changes the numbers around it.
Finally, the number of stunning hits needed to trigger that full stun is going down, normal damage taken is going up, and the weak spot on the dragon’s back will now work for every weapon type instead of a subset of them. Once stunned, the dragon will stay stunned longer, though it will take somewhat less damage during that window to balance out the extended duration. Its hitbox is also being refined to be easier to hit consistently. On top of all of that, the dragon’s overall health pool is being significantly reduced.
That’s a lot! Hopefully now this fight becomes an actual challenge instead of a chore!

New Player Character Proportions
Long time players have jokingly called their Flameborn characters hobbits, since the default proportions give characters a slightly oversized head, hands, and feet. For 1.0, Keen Games is adding new player proportions meant to look less like a halfling out for second breakfast and more like an adventurer built to save the realm.
If you already have an existing character and want the updated proportions, you will be able to visit the Barber NPC Elio Richi, who can use his scissors to adjust your Flameborn’s look without starting a new character.

Updraft Charge Speed Settings
Update 8 added a charge up time to Updraft and changed its movement strength, and the community response was largely negative. For 1.0, Keen Games is introducing a new setting in the game’s options tab that lets you choose between the original instant Updraft and the slower, charge based version introduced in update 8. If you think gliders are overpowered with instant Updraft, you can pick whichever version suits your own game.
NPC and Pet/Livestock Pathing Fixes
Players who build large, densely populated bases have reported NPCs and pets getting stuck in awkward spots around their builds, whether that is a pet wandering somewhere it cannot get out of or an NPC wedged into a corner of a base. Yaks are by far the worst culprits of this!
Keen Games says there is no single fix for this since there are multiple separate causes, but every cause they are currently aware of has been addressed for 1.0. If new instances of NPCs or pets getting stuck show up after launch, the studio has committed to fixing those as they are identified.

Fishing Rework
Fishing is getting a rework aimed at cutting down on player frustration. Bait now primarily attracts fish from the same biome the bait’s source came from, and improved fishing bait guarantees that the fish which bite will match the tier of the bait you are using. Location itself no longer affects your base chance of catching a fish at all, since that job now belongs to bait choice.
Certain fishing spots increase your odds of pulling up treasure or trash, the same way some fishing rods already do, while other specific spots increase the chance that fish bite in the first place. Keen Games says attentive players will be able to tell these spot types apart by paying attention to how each location behaves, though they did not go into exactly what visual or behavioral cues to look for.

What Else Is Coming to Enshrouded 1.0
Keen Games has been slowly teasing features and updates coming to Enshrouded 1.0, so keep checking back as we will continually update this guide! Enshrouded releases out of early access on PC and PlayStation 5, including PS5 Pro, on October 15, 2026. Xbox Series X|S players will have to wait longer, with Keen Games targeting a spring 2027 release for that version so the studio can focus on getting each platform right rather than rushing a simultaneous launch.
We recently broke down the Enshrouded 2026 Roadmap which discusses a few additional features the Devs are planning for 1.0. This includes:
- Combat Improvements
- Greater tactical depth
- Smarter enemy behavior
- Better balancing
- Increased enemy variety
- New Content
- Exciting new locations to explore and challenges to overcome (Floating Islands is expected)
- Adventure Sharing Version 2, including:
- Logic Elements
- Logic Gates
- Enemy spawners
- Traps
Other than what’s listed in the Roadmap we expect this to be a huge update. Keen Games has hinted at hundreds of changes coming in this patch, both small and large.
What Is Enshrouded?
Enshrouded is an action RPG and survival game built and published by Keen Games, a German studio previously known for Portal Knights. You play as one of the Flameborn, exploring the voxel based open world of Embervale solo or with up to sixteen players total in co-op. Combat blends real time action RPG mechanics with base building and full terrain destruction, all running on the Holistic Engine, a proprietary system Keen Games built in house specifically to support total terrain manipulation rather than licensing Unreal or Unity. That choice means digging, building, and destroying terrain feels seamless, since the Holistic Engine was designed around that mechanic from the ground up instead of being adapted to fit it afterward.
Enshrouded launched into Steam early access on January 24, 2024, and found an audience fast, passing one million players in its first week and reaching three million by August of that same year. Over the following two years, Keen Games shipped eight major content updates, adding three new biomes and their monsters, a dynamic water system, new weapons and armor, and expanded base decoration options like weapon racks and feast tables, all while patching bugs and rebalancing systems based on player feedback. By early 2026 the player count had climbed past five million, and Keen Games used that momentum to lay out a public roadmap toward a full release.
That full release lands on October 15, 2026, when Enshrouded leaves early access on PC and PlayStation 5, including PS5 Pro, with an Xbox Series X|S version following in spring 2027. The 1.0 launch folds in the fell dragon youngling rework, the new death and enemy health system, the Updraft toggle, and everything else covered above, marking the point where Keen Games considers the core game complete rather than a work in progress. If you have been waiting for Enshrouded to be finished before diving in, October 15 is that milestone.
Enshrouded 1.0 FAQ
1. When does Enshrouded 1.0 launch?
Enshrouded releases out of early access on October 15, 2026, for PC and PlayStation 5, including PS5 Pro. Xbox Series X|S is not launching alongside those platforms and is currently targeted for Spring 2027.
2. Do I need to buy anything extra to get the 1.0 update?
Based on what Keen Games has said publicly, 1.0 is the full release of the game you already own if you bought it during early access, not a separate purchase or DLC. Keen Games has noted that the price of the game itself may be higher after 1.0 launches, so if you already own it on Steam, you keep it.
3. Can you already stun the fell dragon youngling by reflecting its rock projectiles?
Yes. Melee builds can currently reflect the dragon’s rock projectiles back at it to stun it, and the game does explain this mechanic. Keen Games has said a lot of players are simply not using it, so if the fight has felt unfair, try parrying the rocks before 1.0 changes the stun thresholds.
4. Will my existing Flameborn character automatically get the new proportions?
No. Existing characters keep their current proportions unless you choose to change them. You will need to visit the NPC Elio Richi, who can adjust your character’s proportions using his scissors.
5. Does fishing location still matter after the 1.0 rework?
Not for your base chance of catching a fish, no. In the reworked system, location no longer influences whether you catch something. Instead, bait determines which biome’s fish you attract and what tier of fish bites, while specific fishing spots affect your odds of pulling treasure, trash, or getting more bites overall.
