How Armor Works in Enshrouded

In Enshrouded, armor sets comes in five different pieces: head, chest, arms, legs, and boots. Unlike other RPGs, these armor sets don’t come in light, medium, or heavy and are not restricted based on class or some character creation decision. Therefore, players have the freedom to mix and match different types to fit a perfect blend of stats for their build.
Armor can be obtained through crafting with Survivors (Blacksmith, Hunter, Alchemist) or by finding drops throughout the world. The Blacksmith focuses on armor for Barbarian and Warrior playstyles. The Hunter creates armor for Assassins with Daggers and Rangers with Bows. The Alchemist crafts armor for magic-based playstyles like Battlemage with Wands or Wizards with Staff.
Your armor determines both Physical Armor and Magical Armor for defense and resistances, but also additional effects like max stats, regeneration, critical, and weapon type bonus damage buffs (15% more staff damage) via set bonuses. Most of your damage, for example, comes from your head and gloves while the chest is mainly for stats. Your boots help with resource sustain and legs are a mix between stats and regeneration. Therefore, it’s best to be tactical and mix and match depending on your needs. Always err on survivability first, then damage or at least until you get the hang of the game.
Enshrouded Best Armor Sets by Playstyle
| Playstyle | Recommended Best-in-Slot (BiS) Set | Key Stat Benefit |
| Ranger (Bow) | Quetzal Hunter / Skull Stalker | Crit Chance & Stamina Regen |
| Assassin (Dagger) | Bloodfeather / Frostbite Slasher | Dagger Damage & Backstab |
| Warrior (1H & Shield) | Wolf’s Fang / Sunpiercer | One-Handed Damage & Max HP |
| Battlemage (Wand) | Hailcaster / Flaming Gauntlets | Magic Crit & Wand Damage |
| Wizard (Staff) | Tidecaller / Circlet of Lightning | Staff Damage & Mana Regen |
| Barbarian (2H) | Sunpiercer / Greatsword Gauntlets | Two-Handed Damage & Crit DMG |
Best Ranger Armor (Bow Focus)

The best armor for the Ranger/Archer Build or any Bow Build user is a combination of Quetzal Hunter and Skull Stalker sets.
As a Ranger, you use stamina to fire bows, and sometimes mana with special arrows. Moreover, you are constantly dodging or blinking to create space away from targets, allowing you to free fire. Therefore, the Ranger must balance stamina regen with high enough health to take a hit, plus optimal damage.
Unlike other builds, the Archer Bow user must aim for Skillshots. These are “headshots” or specific points on targets that reward extra damage. You can build into this feature with skills and gear to give you more passive damage. However, you should only do this if you enjoy aiming mechanics like FPS games and are frequently hitting skillshots. The Skull Stalker gloves, for instance, reward skillshots while the Quetzal Hunter set gives you a flat bonus to range damage. The upside of Skillshot is the best damage, but it can be annoying to constantly draw back for a headshot.
On other parts of the ranger’s gear, look to increase your max health and stamina regeneration with a Sunpiercer Chest and Golden Bulwark Pants. While this seems odd, you gain over double the HP of the Hunter chest pieces, stamina, and stamina regeneration. There are no bonuses for running a “five” piece set, so use these two for more survivability.
The last choice is boots, and Quetzal Hunter Shoes gives a unique bonus lowering stamina regeneration delay. This is helpful to quickly starting to regenerating stamina after an arrow shot, strafing, or when you run out. The alternate piece of gear to recommend here is in the legs, Quetzal Hunter Pants. They give a unique 12% sprint speed bonus and you can feel the speed difference. If you have enough HP and want faster running, swap to them instead of Golden Bulwark Pants.

Best Assassin Armor (Dagger Focus)

The best set for an Assassin Build in Enshrouded is the Bloodfeather set which was added in Update 7. The gloves give the highest damage possible while the head of this set gives the most backstabbing damage in the game.
The Assassin build and playstyle revolves around using daggers to land stealth and backstab attacks. Backstab attacks are from the rear, and boost damage passively and with skills, can increase over 50%. Therefore, players want to build for max burst and backstab damage.

Since this is a unique set, you’ll need to travel to Veilwater Basin and look for Tombs. Loot the chest inside tombs for a random chance at this armor set. An alternative, if you cannot obtain this set, is Frostbite Slasher. It gives similar bonuses but without the highest percentages.
On your chest and legs, you can go with high HP sets like Sunpiercer and Golden Bulwark. This will help your survivability and if using the Battle Heal skill from Tank, give you more HP back passively when you critically hit. However, if you can spare the HP, go with the Quetzal Hunter pants because it gives 12% sprint speed. This can help with getting the flank and back of targets. You’ll also want the Quetzal Hunter boots since it lowers the stamina regeneration delay giving you back stamina faster.
The gear priorities with the dagger and Assassin build should be backstab, critical chance, and stamina regeneration. This will give you a well-balanced build capable of high burst and good survivability.

Best Warrior Armor (One-Handed & Shield)

The Best Armor set for a Warrior Build in Enshrouded is the Sunpiercer Set.
The Warrior Build playstyle is about melee damage with a one-handed weapon while being able to block with a shield or a Ward. The Warrior sacrifices damage for increased survivability. We recommend the Wolf’s Fang gloves combined with the Sunpiercer Helmet and Sunpiercer Chest. While the Wolf’s Fang gloves are from a previous update, it provide the highest percentage increase to one-handed damage. Meanwhile, the Sunpiercer helmet gives the highest bonuses for melee critical strike chance and damage.

Your priority for the chest and pants are getting as much health as possible for the Battle Heal skill. The higher you health, the more HP you get back passively.
Lastly, depending on your armor values and HP, you can focus your boots on stamina regeneration. Quetzal Hunter is the best because of the delay reduction bonus. However, you can go with Golden Bulwark for more physical armor and health regeneration. Use food choices to help with stamina regeneration if you aren’t able to consistently dodge and block with this setup.

Best Battlemage Armor (Wand Focus)

The Battlemage Build or Wand Build playstyle uses medium-range attacks with a Ward for blocking. Unlike other builds, the Wand build wants to mix and match a variety of different armor types because of the need for blocking, dodging, staff usage and so forth.
The best armor sets for a Wand or Battlemage build are a combination of Hailcaster, Tidecaller, and a new glove introduced in Update 7 called the Flaming Gauntlets.

The Flaming Gauntlets can be found in Veilwater Basin northern area called Gateway Outpost “Endflame.” It not only gives Wand damage but fire as well, therefore, you’re incentivized to use a fire-type wand and staff. Also, the previous update chest piece Hailcasters gives a 7% bonus to Wand damage and it stacks with the 18% from Flaming Gauntlets. While you won’t have as much HP as the other chest piece options, the damage is noticeable.

Another interesting choice for the Battlemage is using the Bloodfeather Shoes instead of something else. That’s because it gives both mana and stamina regeneration. You can find the Bloodfeather set as a random drop in Tombs within Veilwater Basin area. Since you need both resource pools, this is the best overall for the Wand setup.

Best Wizard Armor (Staff Focus)

The Wizard Build or Staff Build is the glass cannon playstyle in Enshrouded and wants to focus on max intelligence, critical chance, and Staff Damage.
The best armor sets for a Wizard or Staff Build in Enshrouded are Tidecaller and the Circlet of Lightning.
Tidecaller gives bonuses to Staff damage and damage against magical creatures. Meanwhile, Circlet of Lightning is a specific headpiece designed to take advantage of the new soaked and wet mechanic.

The Circlet of Lightning can be found during the Crown of Lightning quest in Veilwater Basin. Only use this if you plan on throwing Water Balloons or using the Gem of Currents to apply the Soaked debuff to targets. However, if you do, the setup will give you the highest critical strike chance of 21% vs. 18% with Tidecaller. Plus, the extra shock damage applies to passive skills like Chain Hit and Mass Destruction.
The rest of your gear can be Tidecaller, except for your pants. Golden Bulwark gives a massive amount of HP and with Tidecaller in your chest for max mana, you need a little more to avoid one shots. Adjust for more mana regeneration with food and more HP with a swap to Sunpiercer chest if you don’t have enough HP.

Best Barbarian Armor (Two-Handed Focus)

The Barbarian two-handed build uses strength for increasing damage and swinging with long arcing AOE weapons. The developers added some new skills in Update 7 like Whirlwind Crecendo, that do AOE damage, but cost a lot of stamina. Therefore, you must balance stamina regeneration with raw damage.
The best armor sets for this Two-Handed Barbarian Build are the Sunpiercer set and Quetzal Hunter sets.
If you need extra stamina regeneration, consider swapping your pants to Skull Stalker, though you will lose HP.

The Greatsword Gauntlets item was introduced in Update 7 and gives a higher percentage of damage than Sunpiercer. However, it’s only for the Greatsword weapon type. While this looks appealing, the Greatsword has a much longer swing animation than the Axe, and it’s hard to land consistent attacks with it’s current animations. Therefore, it’s best to take the lower damage, and land consistent fast attacks. However, if you like the Greatsword, look to pick up these gloves in the Goldrock Saddle Inn northeast part of town.

- Critical Strike Chance: (The best late-game DPS scaler)
- Resource Sustain: (Stamina for Melee/Ranged, Mana for Magic)
- Health: (Crucial for survival in high-level Enshrouded areas like Veilwater Basin)
