Enshrouded Daggers Overview
The Dagger is the fastest melee weapon in Enshrouded and the core of the stealth and rogue archetypes, scaling with Dexterity. It offers the highest attack frequency in the game, with a 0.4 second attack speed. You can thus trigger gems and status effects more frequently than other weapons. Moreover, the Dagger blends multiple damage types like poison and piercing. Poison is a damage over time (DOT) effect that can be increased in the Beastmaster skill tree. Meanwhile, piercing melee damage can be increased via the Warrior skill tree.
Unlike Swords or Axes, Daggers have a shorter reach but compensate with a massive Backstab multiplier. This rewards players who use mobility skills like Blink or Double Jump to get behind enemies. In order to trigger this bonus, you much be behind (almost directly) a target, and with two skills, you can boost the damage over 50%! This makes the dagger perfect for sneaky players. Speaking of sneaking, the Dagger also is effective trying to get the sneak bonus. While it’s much harder to crouch and pull off, the multiplier is massive and one-shots nearly anything.
Since Update 7, Daggers now have better synergy with the Bow due to the skill Slice and Dice from Beastmaster. When you critically strike with a Dagger, your next bow attack deals 50% more damage. You can then jump back and forth from melee to range effectively because of this skill and that you only need to stack one attribute type, Dexterity. Overall, daggers are a strong, effective, and fun playstyle, but not blocking with a shield is a weakness in comparison to other weapon types. The closest weapon type to compare with is the One Hand and Sword, which we list below.
Daggers vs. One-Handed Swords: Pros & Cons
| Feature | Daggers (Fast Melee) | 1H Swords (Standard Melee) |
| Primary Attribute | Dexterity | Strength |
| Attack Speed | 0.4 seconds | 0.6 seconds |
| Reach | Short (Must stay close) | Medium |
| Crowd Control | Stun/Interruption via speed | Knockback / Parry Power |
| Best Use | Stealth, Backstabbing | Tanking, Blocking |
Enshrouded Best Dagger Traits & Optimization
Daggers rely on “Death by a thousand cuts.” Because you hit so frequently, traits that trigger on every hit (like Leech or Poison) are significantly more valuable here than on slower weapons. Below are the best traits to look for when acquiring Daggers. Remember, most weapons aren’t found in a specific quest, but are randomly dropped by chests or bosses. Therefore, you have to farm bosses and chests in end-game areas to get the best drops (see our chest farming guide).
| Trait Name | Effect | Importance | Why It’s Powerful |
|---|---|---|---|
| Health Leech | 5% health back on attack | S Tier | Dramatically increases survivability. |
| Precise | +5% Critical Strike Chance | S Tier | More crits mean more “Slice and Dice” procs. |
| Vicious | +20% Backstab Damage | A Tier | Multiplies your primary source of burst damage. |
| Venomous Blade | 5% Chance to poison enemies | A Tier | Helps deal damage over time consistently. |
| Retaliation | 20% damage back to melee | B Tier | Helps to deal damage back to attackers dueling. |
| Merciless | 20% increased Merciless Attack damage | B Tier | Increases overall burst of Merciless Damage |
Enshrouded Best Daggers Ranked (Update 8)
- Crystal Knives: self-healing and poison DOT damage.
- Oath Breaker: fire damage to trigger gems and high critical.
- Parade Dagger: return damage back to melee attacks when dueling up close.
- Sandstorm Swiftblades: most burst with backstab damage.
- Broodmother’s Eye: plays into soaked meta.
1. Crystal Knives (Balanced)

Crystal Knives Daggers Features and Stats:
- 5% Venomous Blade – chance to poison on hit
- Vicious: 20% Backstab Damage
- 5% Health leech
- 1 Renewal
- Vicious: 20% Backstab Damage
The Crystal Knives are arguably the best overall daggers due to the Vicious, Venomous Blades, and health leech rolls. Since daggers attack so fast, you are more likely to trigger Venomous Blades often. Even with a low chance of 5%, every swing adds up to almost always proc this effect.

One of the best combinations is using the Gem of Agility with this dagger. After you dodge or blink, you gain extra damage and stamina on the next hit. This keeps your stamina higher, allowing you to bob and weave in combat, avoiding attacks while being rewarded for extra damage and stamina. You can find Gem of Agility by killing a Fell Banshee in Nomad Highlands.

The Life Leech is also a great bonus on these weapons and pairs well with the Gemini Ring, which also has 7% chance. Instead of using two Gemini Rings, you can swap to one Ring of the Ancients and gain an additional 5% melee damage. This gives you a well-balanced build that not only does great damage, but also has built-in healing that stacks with the skill Battle Heal and other gear options. Thus, we think Crystal Knives are the best overall daggers in Enshrouded.
2. Oath Breaker (Fire Damage)

Oath Breaker Daggers Features and Stats:
- 10% Cutting Damage
- 10% Piercing Damage
- 10% Fire Damage
- 5% Precise Critical Strike Chance
- 10% Fire Damage

The Oath Breaker Daggers are best when combined with the Bow and using the skill Slice and Dice. This skill gives you 50% more damage to your bow attack after you critical strike with daggers. You will notice an icon in your buff menu on the top left side of your screen. What you want to do is play in melee range, crit, swap to a bow and fire off a massive explosive arrow for 50% more damage.

You can also stack additional fire damage effects and play this hybrid approach, where you use the daggers as secondary weapons, leaning into fire. Take the Gem of Burning for instance, this will do massive damage over time and just needs a source of fire damage (third bonus unlocked). Then, you can swap to your bow and have another different kind of gem like Gem of Storm’s Eye, which does lightning chain damage on hit.
The downsides of the Oath Breaker setup are the cutting damage bonus and no health leech or poison proc chance. Fire damage is one of the easiest elements to increase your DPS due to the Prayer of the Flame Scroll, but your base damage is still piercing and fire. Thus, you really need to build into a fire damage approach with bow and daggers, and if you do, it’s one of the best combinations in Enshrouded.
3. Parade Dagger (Duelist)

Parade Daggers Features and Stats:
- 20% Merciless Attack Damage
- 20% Retaliation damage dealt back to melee attackers
- 20% Merciless Attack Damage
- 20% Retaliation damage dealt back to melee attackers
- 20% Merciless Attack Damage
The Parade Daggers are perfect for players who love fighting one-on-one melee targets and not backing off. Using the Merciless Attack skill in the Center skill tree, you can fill up an enemy’s stun bar and then leave them vulnerable for a merciless attack. The animation takes about a second, but does massive damage. You can even increase the damage by another 100% with the Opportunity skill in the center skill tree. Moreover, look to take the Blood Warrior skill in the Athlete tree, which causes an enemy to drop an orb of health (10%) so you can self-sustain healing while dealing damage.

Another combo to use with this dagger is to lean into the Retaliation bonus and reflect damage back to enemies. The Counterstrike skill will also reflect 50% of the damage back to the attacker as fire damage. With a 20% chance, and two other 20% chances, you’ll constantly be reflecting back damage, allowing you to kill the enemies passively while you take damage. With this setup, you are likely to need two Gemini Rings to keep your health high or constantly using bandages.
The main weakness of this dagger is that it has zero critical or critical damage bonuses or backstab. Therefore, it’s a great setup if you don’t play off the backstab combat style. However, the dagger’s main goal is to take the flank and order to boost damage passively. Parade Daggers are a great choice if you find yourself never getting backstab opportunities and just want to stay face-to-face and fight.
4. Sandstorm Swiftblades (The Crowd Control)

Sandstorm Swiftblades Daggers Features and Stats:
- 20% Vicious Increased Backstab Damage
- 5% Venomous Blade – chance to poison on hit
- 20% Vicious Increased Backstab Damage
- 10% Cutting Damage
- 20% Vicious Increased Backstab Damage
The Sandstorm Swiftblades are the best damage for backstab gameplay. In Enshrouded, you can increase your damage by attacking the rear of a target. Not the side, but directly behind. You’ll see a backstab icon and your damage will be increased. These daggers give you three bonuses of Viscous, for a 60% bonus to backstab. If that weren’t enough, you can increase Backstab by 25% with a skill in the center tree and Backstab Mastery another 30% from the Survivor tree.

You will want to combo this dagger with Gem of Toxic Betrayal, which triggers poison damage on a backstab hit. The damage will increase the more you level the gem, and it gives you the missing ingredient for the weapon, consistent DOT damage. You can get Gem of Toxic Betrayal fromthe Scavenger Berserker NPC in the Revelwood area. Only use these daggers if you constantly get backstabs, have high mobility, and start combat off from the rear most often.
The major weakness of Snadstorm is the entire gameplay revolves around backstab. Sometimes, this isn’t possible and it will lower your burst and DPS greatly. Still, a worth choice for true assassins who love those massive numbers on unsuspecting targets.
5. Broodmother’s Eye (The DoT Specialist)

Broodmother’s Eye Daggers Features and Stats:
- 5% Venomous Blade – chance to poison on hit
- Vicious: 20% Backstab Damage
- 10% Opportunistic critical strike chance against soaked enemies
- 20% shock damage
- Vicious: 20% Backstab Damage
The Broodmother’s Eye Daggers focus on the Soaked mechanic introduced back in Update 7. This requires you to get into water, eventually Wet, then apply the debuff on enemies to trigger soaked. Once they are soaked, you gain access to the Opportunisitic bonus which is 10% critical chance, double precise.

The only issue with this setup is that you need the newly introduced Gem of Currents to consistently get the wet debuff applied. If you lean into this mechanic, or have a Bow setup for shock and wet debuff, it’s a good weapon. However, it complicates things a bit for a build that wants to do poison and backstab vs. wet and shock.
Best Dagger Armor Sets

The best armor for dagger builds is the Bloodfeather set found in Veilwater Basin Tomb chest. This set gives you dagger damage, backstab damage, sneak damage, and stamina. The second closet set, Frostbite Slasher, gives 23% dagger damage while this gives 27%.
