Overall, the Gem meta has remained largely the same this year. The developers at Keen Games enabled Gems to complement pre-existing playstyles and the new Soaked debuff mechanic which was added to Update 7. In this guide, we explain how gems work, and which you should target to make the most out of your Enshroudded Build.
Enshrouded Weapon Gems Overview

Weapon Gems were introduced to Enshrouded as a major mid-to-late game progression system in the “Thralls of Twilight” update (Patch #2, May 2024). They function as powerful, slot-in modifications that grant weapons unique “Proc” effects such as triggering life leech, elemental explosions, or status debuffs. Unlike standard weapon upgrades that use Runes, Gems must be discovered in the world, often as rare drops from elite enemies like Fell Banshees or Hollow Reapers, or through specific activities like fishing.

To use Gems, players must first complete the “Finding and Using a Gem Forge” quest to unlock specialized stations hidden within Shroud Lairs. Each weapon must have an available “Gem Slot” to receive a stone, and the socketing process requires Archaic Essence, a currency farmed from enemies and objects within the Shroud. Gems are tiered by biome, meaning you must visit a Gem Forge in a higher-level region (like the Kindlewastes) to upgrade a Gem to its maximum level.
With the introduction of the Soaked debuff and nerfs to passive stamina regeneration, players now use specific stones like the Gem of Currents to reduce enemy resistances or the Gem of Battle Mania to sustain health and mana through combat. This system encourages a more tactical approach, as players often swap weapons or carry specific elemental gems to exploit the weaknesses of Enshrouded’s toughest bosses.
Best Enshrouded Weapon Gems Ranked (Update 8)
- Gem of Battle Mania: useful on any build to sustain you in combat but requires a consumable to activate.
- Gem of Storm’s Eye: helpful for any build that needs more area damage with a simple proc mechanic.
- Gem of Bleeding: great for melee builds that need extra damage over time.
- Gem of Burning: fire-specific, but melts enemies in the Shroud who are weak to fire.
- Gem of Currents: specific to the Soaked mechanic and helpful to shock builds.
1. Gem of Battle Mania (The Life-Sustainer)

Gem Features and Stats:
- Type: Combat Buff
- Trigger: Landing a Critical Hit
- Effect: Grants a stack of “Battle Mania,” increasing Life Leech and damage.
- Best Use: Barbarian Build, Warrior Build, and Greatsword Build
- How to get: Dropped by Scavenger Berserker and Vukah Berserker in the Kindlewastes.
The best Gem in Enshrouded for any build is Gem of Battle Mania because of it’s massive buffs to resource sustain including health. If your build feels much weaker in the sustain department, and you’ll either need gear, consumables, or skills to combat this effect. However, this is where Gem of Battle Mania steps in to make sure you have tons of resources needed for every fight.

How the Gem works is by consuming an Elixir first. One consumed, you gain a buff when attacking enemies that last for three seconds and boost all three stats: health, stamina, and mana. Once you stop attacking and do not retrigger the buff, you experience a 10-second cooldown on the effect. Elixirs can be obtained by picking up physical items in scavenger camps like pots, crates, and chests or by killing scavenger enemy NPCs.

This Gem allows for all-out aggressive gameplay where you throttle down on attacks and forget worrying about your resource sustain. For Barbarian or Two-Handed builds, it’s perfect because you can bring Life Leech rings like Gemini to the fight and passively heal while dealing damage. Moreover, Gem of Battle Mania is one of those items to socket on any build where you don’t have a specific niche gameplay mechanic (fire, shock, bleeding, etc.). Simply throw it in your weapon, activate an Elixir and go on the offensive to feel ultra-powerful. Therefore, we rank it the best in Enshrouded because of it’s use throughout each and every playstyle.
2. Gem of Storm’s Eye (The AoE Shock King)

Gem Features and Stats:
- Type: Magic Shock
- Trigger: Defeating an enemy
- Effect: Chance to trigger a massive Shock explosion that hits all nearby targets.
- Best Use: Battlemage Build, Wizard Build, Wand Builds, Staff Builds
- How to get: Dropped from Vekah Beserker, Fell Commander, or Shroud Stalker in Nomad Highlands.
The current end-game meta in Enshrouded revolves around shock damage thanks to the Soaked debuff which lowers resistance to shock by 30%! What makes the Gem of Storm’s Eye so strong in the current update is the proc chance only requires you to hit a target, then hit again within five seconds. No elemental type is required or specific mechanic. Once marked, when you hit the target again, it sends another bolt of lightning to another target dealing damage and chain attacking multiple enemies.

This gem works great with a Wand that has limited AOE potential, specifically the Drak Wand. The Drak Wand has multishot, which can stack with the Wand skill which shoots extra projectiles. Now this Wand can shot up to four projectiles and trigger extra damage, but the combination isn’t done yet!
You can add a few skills into the mix to make the combo even better:
- Chain Hit (Wizard) on a critical hit with a magical weapon the attack will automatically hit a second enemy with 15 meters for 5 shock damage per intelligence
- Mass Destruction (Wizard) – A critical attack with a magic weapon will hit all enemies within 20 meters of the target for 2 shock damage per intelligence
- Thunder (Wizard) – All Shock damage is increased by an additional 10%
Now you can get another chain of damage that hits enemies within 20 meters. The result is spectacular damage built-in AOE with a shock meta. The shock combo is mainly for spellcasters with Staff and Wand, and while it can work on melee, there are better gems. However, you could make a strong case that this gem is the best overall but Battle Mania works on every build and helps not only resources sustain but survivability which is needed in the current meta.
3. Gem of Bleeding (The Boss Shredder)

Gem Features and Stats:
- Type: Physical DoT
- Trigger: Critical Hits
- Effect: Applies a “Deep Wound” dealing physical damage over time.
- Best Use: Barbarian Build, Warrior Build, and Greatsword Build
- How to get: Dropped by Fell Banshee in Springlands (Moth’s Grove location).

The Gem of Bleeding ranks third on this list because of it’s damage over time and that it’s easy to obtain. The gem works by critically striking an enemy with cutting damage causes damage over time based on your gems level. The cutting damage type typically comes from Axes, Greatswords, and Swords. This gives melee builds that use one-handed weapons or two-handed weapons a powerful gem option to stack bleeding over time effects. Weapons can also have a bonus of Cutting, which will trigger this effect as well.

Another benefit of the Gem of Bleeding is that it can work on multiple targets at once. There is no condition where only one can remain active at a time. Thus, you can bleed the entire group of enemy NPCs with a massive Whirlwind Crescendo attack on a Two-Handed Axe. The damage may appear small, but when you level up the gem to 50 it becomes significant and the duration last a long time in comparison to other gems resulting in consistent damage over time (DOT) that works in AOE situations.
However, the downsides are that it requires cutting damage, specifically narrowing your weapon types and builds, and there is no way to increase bleeding damage with skills. Similar to Poison, there isn’t currently a skill tree node to boost the damage type, unlike fire, shock, etc. Thus, you can’t get another 30% out of the gems overall damage.
Gem of Bleeding is still a top contender for best gem in Enshrouded because of its broad melee usage and its very easy to obtain and use in AOE situations.
4. Gem of Burning (The Firestorm)

Gem Features and Stats:
- Type: Magic Fire
- Trigger: Dealing Magic/Fire Damage
- Effect: 10% chance to trigger a 5-second stream of Fire damage.
- Best Use: Archer Build, Wizard Build, Bow Builds, Staff Builds
- How to get: Dropped from Fell Banshee in Springlands (Moth’s Grove location).

The Gem of Burning is a powerful fire damage over time gem that goes well with a Ignited Bow, Eternal Fireball Spell, or a fire based Wand. The gem works by dealing burning damage over time after dealing fire damage. The damage over time becomes longer than the cooldown at rank 30 or higher, thus giving you a 100% uptime on a powerful DOT. The downside, however is that it only affects one target unlike the Gem of Bleeding. Thus, you want to prioritize the highest threat target and attack straight away to trigger the debuff.

Another strength of the Gem of Burning is the debuff stays on the target even if you swap to another weapon. Therefore, you can unload a huge Fireball at range, swap to a Wand with Gem of Storm’s Eye and stack two debuffs on the target. This is a great way to inflict multiple status with a simple weapon swap. Plus, Fell enemies take more damage from fire, giving you an advantage on the most available enemy type in Enshrouded.

The developers loaded the game up with ways to increase fire damage. Two skills from the Wizard tree give you a 10% and 20% increase, meanwhile Pray of the Flame gives you another 20% for 30 minutes. You can also get Flaming Gauntlets, designed specifically for a Wand fire build which adds another 10% of fire damage. The result is, unlike the Gem of Bleeding, you have many ways to increase overall fire damage by 60% and make the DOT more deadly with just a couple of clicks. The downside is, it needs fire damage to trigger limiting your weapon type and it won’t work on multiple threats at once.
However, for specific fire builds, which can include melee weapons and bow, you must try the Gem of Burning as it’s one of the best in Enshrouded.
5. Gem of Currents (The Meta Enabler)

Gem Features and Stats:
- Type: Status Utility (Soaked)
- Trigger: Attacking while the Player is “Wet.”
- Effect: 50% chance to apply the Soaked debuff to the enemy.
- Best Use: Battlemage Build, Wizard Build, Wand Builds, Staff Builds, Greatsword Builds
- How to get: Veilwater Basin Drak enemies or Fishing

The fifth-best gem for Enshrouded is the Gem of Currents. This gem interacts with the new wet and soaked debuffs. How it works is, while you are wet or soaked, you apply the soaked debuff to enemies and have a possibility of doing bonus shock damage. The developers loaded the game with new weapons and two new traits that give you more critical chance and critical damage than normal traits if the enemy is soaked. Thus, it enables the highest possible values, not to mention shock resistance is reduced by 30%.

The Circlet of Lightning helm was also added giving you another tool to take advantage of the soaked and lightning combo. The major downside is having to get soaked and wet constantly to trigger this effect. The easiest way is to bring water ballons with you and chuck it an enemy. You can also splash into the water, and then go exploring but with only 7 minutes of exploration it can be cumbersome. Also, Wet time is reduced by heat, so walking by a torch in a dungeon lowers this dramatically.
Overall, it’s a great gem if you build specific for shocked damage and the soaked debuff. However, it just requires more careful combat timing and planning and isn’t applicable until you reach a high level and have the mindset to constantly focus on being wet yourself.
