Gliders in Enshrouded completely change how you explore the world, letting you travel faster, avoid danger, and access hard-to-reach locations. This guide covers the best gliders, how to unlock them, and the best skills to maximize their effectiveness.

Enshrouded Gliders Explained

Gliders are equipable items that let you fly airborne draining your stamina per second. You equip a Glider in your character screen in your glider slot, and they grant range, speed, and stamina per second bonuses. When you jump or move off a ledge, you press the SPACE button to start gliding at the cost of stamina while you slowly lose altitude. You can persist in gliding great distances across the map as long as you have elevation and enough in your stamina bar to continue gliding – plus its fun! If you want to end flying early, press block or space again to begin falling (and take fall damage).

Since Enshrouded doesn’t have mounts, Keen Games added the Glider as your primary mobility tool to enable travel. Similar to Legend of Zelda and other games, the Glider lets you traverse large areas at great speeds. Your goal is to upgrade your Glider to better quality which increases your speed and range. You can do this by unlocking new Survivors, Materials, and eventually finding the Ghost Glider in a Sun Temple.

Below is what you can expect from each Glider, how to get them, with detailed walkthroughs of each Glider for new players in Enshrouded.

The first airborne assistance you can get is the basic “Glider.” Your first Glider is crafted at Workbench and requires you to discover Shroud Spores or Shroud Wood to unlock its crafting recipe. You will get the quest to craft this via the Blacksmith.

If you haven’t unlocked the Blacksmith, head just south of the Ancient Spire. You will need to cross the Braelyn Bridge which can be done with a Grappling Hook or by going under and through the Shroud to the north. Next, you will need to collect materials in order to craft the Glider. The easiest way to do this is by exploring the first area, Longkeep. The Shroud enemies will drop Shroud Spores, and you can obtain these ingredients at the outset of the game.

Once you unlock the recipe, set up a base near Longkeep and create a Workbench. You can find Animal Fur by killing critters or Wolfs near your area. String is made in manual crafting by collecting plant fiber around the starter area near trees. Shroud Wood is found by chopping down trees in the Shroud. If you can’t find any in Longkeep, go to the first Elixir Well area and down the initial path you should find some trees.

Once you have the basic Glider, your next goal is to locate the Carpenter, who’s used for more advanced gliders.

In order to craft the advanced Glider, you will need to locate the Carpenter. You can find them east of the Longkeep starter area in the Ancient Vault just southwest of the Low Meadow Ancient Spire. The crafting recipe for the Advanced Glider is unlocked by progressing the Hunter quest chain. You will need to get Hunter Becomes the Hunted to unlock the recipe.

Once you have the Carpenter and completed the Hunter’s quest, next is getting the material. The most difficult will be Linen which requires the Hand Spindle and Flax to make. The Hand Spindle is unlocked during the Hunter’s Quest progression with the Hunter’s Hand Spindle quest. It’s located just north of the Revelwood Ancient spire in an Abandoned Hunter Camp.

The Flax plant, which is blue and is around the Revelwood biome. It’s best to go into wide open fields and you’ll find a bunch of it. You will need a massive amount of Flax for various crafting recipes beyond the backpack, so take a few and put them into a seedbed crafted by the Farmer. However, you just need two Flax to produce one Linen, and unlock the recipe.

Shroud Wood can be obtained by chopping down trees in the Shroud and String from Plant Fiber. That least Shroud Sack, which requires you to kill Fell Mushroom Crabs in Nomad Highlands. They are large orange and dark colored enemies. They can be found in the Nomad Highlands area, specifically Umber Hollow’s Shroud area. Run around in circles killing them here is the fastest way to collect many Shroud Sacks.

Next up is the Extraordinary Glider obtained around level 20.

Extraordinary Glider

The Extraordinary Glider is epic rarity and has increased speed and range from the Advanced Glider. This Glider is crafted at the Carpenter by obtaining Leather to unlock the crafting recipe.

Leather can be crafted at the Tanning Station which is unlocked in the Nomad Highlands via the In Need of a Tanning Station Hunter quest chain.

You can find it at the Lupa’s Lair location which is south of the Nomad Highland Ancient Spire. One of the crafting ingredients you will need to make leather is Ammonia Glad. These come from Fell Mushroom Crabs, which should be found in the same area, Nomad Highland Shroud. These are the same creatures that drop Shroud Sack so you may already have them from Advanced Glider.

The last material needed is Shroud Adhesive. This can be obtained by killing Shroud Flayers in the Nomad Highlands. These are Shroud creatures that have a large root growing out of the ground. Northwest of the Umber Hollow, in a Shroud area you can find many of them near the Gem Forge area.

Once you have all the ingredients, craft the Glider and level up some more for the Ghost Glider.

The Ghost Glider is a level 30 legendary version with increased range and speed. Unlike previous Gliders, you must find this one in a Gold Chest at the top of the South-East Sun Temple.

Travel south from the Kindlewaste Ancient Spire and past the Scatterbone Scavenger area. The Ghost Glider is through the temple which will require some fighting and puzzles.

If you have the Updraft skill, you can get on the rocks area to the side and jump/glide to a higher floor skipping many of the puzzles. If you get stuck, make sure to constantly look up as there is likely a grappling hook you need to attach to. Once at the top, you get a Ghost Glider and unlock the recipe if you want to make another one for a friend or a backup.

Best Skills for Glider in Enshrouded

The two most important skills for your Glider are Updraft and Airborne both in the Assassin skill tree. Airborne grants 30% less stamina consumption while flying, giving you a massive distance advantage. Meanwhile, Updraft allows you to jump mid air, once per flight. However, it cost 100 mana to do so, thus having a large mana pool and regen is helpful.

You also want to get the Double Jump skill which grants you more height per jump. A trick to use is double jump, then immediately using Updraft to climb even higher. This allows you to glide a massive distance from even surfaces.

Beyond these skills anything that boost endurance, stamina recover like the skill Rebound will be helpful. Also carrying around a Wand with passive recovery is great while using Updraft so you can use the mobility tricker faster.
