Enshrouded Bows Overview

The Bow is one of the best weapons in Enshrouded and is the signature weapon of the Ranger and Archer builds, scaling primarily with Dexterity. It offers the highest sustained physical damage from the safest distance, plus the utility of stun arrows. Unlike Wands (Magic) or Staff (Mana), the Bow relies on arrows to hit enemies, making resource management a key part of the playstyle. This guide focuses on maximizing your damage and managing your ammo and stamina.
The bow also has a unique damage-added mechanic called “skill shot.” This just means “headshot” from traditional FPS or RPG games. You can increase this skill shot damage with skills, gear, and aiming for the head or heart of most enemies. No other weapon requires you to manually aim for max raw damage, thus it’s a pro and a con. Enshrouded features a tab target system, so if you struggle with precision, you can just stab and click to hit the target. However, for optimal damage, you will want to aim for the head and take advantage of extra damage when possible.
The three main ranged weapons in Enshrouded are the Bow, Wand, and Staff. The Bow and Staff require a charge/draw time, while the Wand is near instant. However, the Bow and Staff have the highest range. The Bow uses arrows, which are one-time use, minus eternal ice arrow, while the Wand doesn’t require arrows. Keep in mind that even melee builds, such as the Assassin or the Warrior, may want to use ranged weapons, such as the bow, and other survival tricks, such as Double Jump and Water Aura, when facing off against tougher enemies, like the Fell Dragon Youngling.
Bows vs. Magic: Pros & Cons
| Feature | Bow (Physical Ranged Damage) | Magic Weapons (Wand/Staff) |
| Ammunition | Consumes Arrows (must be crafted by the Hunter). | Staves use Mana/Spell Charges; Wands use nothing. |
| Damage Scaling | Dexterity | Intelligence (Magic Damage). |
| Attack Speed | 0.6 seconds / 20% arrow speed | Wands are fastest; Staves are slowest (but highest burst). |
| Damage Type | Physical (Piercing, Blunt) or Elemental (via elemental arrows). | Pure Elemental damage (Fire, Ice, Shock). |
| Best Use | Precision Headshots, long-range kiting, and damage over time using special arrows (Shroud, Explosive). | General AoE and exploiting elemental weaknesses. |
The TLDR is, the Bow has the highest upside in terms of damage, but the most crafting required to maintain explosive arrows. Wand is the best all-around if you want medium range without having to constantly craft, and Staff is best for raw AOE damage.
Best Enshrouded Bow Traits & Optimization
In Enshrouded, weapons are obtained at random from Chest drops and some bosses (see our chest farm guide). However, the traits, or individual bonuses, remain the same. The area where you get the gold chest determines the Bows’ overall level. Meaning, if you get a low-level Bow, it won’t scale to your current level. Therefore, it’s best to wait until near the end of the game to seriously upgrade your Bow as you progress from levels 1-45.
Below, we rank the best Bow traits to look for and explain why they are useful:
| Trait Name | Effect | Importance Rating | Why It’s Powerful |
| Elemental Damage | Adds bonus base damage (e.g., +15 Fire Damage). | S Tier | Synergizes with Explosive Arrows for the maximum damage. |
| Precise | Critical Crit Chance | A Tier | Helps with consistent and burst damage. |
| Brutal | Critical Damage | A Tier | Gives more burst damage to critical hits. |
| Stamina Leech | Returns stamina on hit | B Tier | Great for sustaining mobility and arrow spamming. |
| Health Leech | Returns health on hit | B Tier | Good when healing is limited or starting off. |
Enshrouded Best Bows Ranked (Update 8)
1. Ignited Bow (Highest Burst)

Ignited Bow Bonuses and Features:
- Precise: 5% Critical Strike Chance
- +10% Magic Fire Damage
- +10% Magic Fire Damage
- Reaping: Defeat an enemy to gain a stamina regeneration buff
- +10% Magic Fire Damage
The Ignited Bow ranks the best overall in Enshrouded because of its high critical chance and three lines of fire damage increase. Fire damage is the best element type for the bow due to explosive arrows and how scaling fire damage works.

Explosive Arrow III (currently max level) deals an additional 38 fire damage per arrow. With the skill Shell Shock, these arrows can stun targets on a critical hit. But, where it gets really good is with the following skill combinations:
- Chain Reaction (Ranger): every enemy hit with an explosive arrow has a 20% chance to trigger a secondary small explosion for 50% damage in a small radius:
- Ricochet (Ranger): for every target you hit with an explosive arrow, its damage is increased by 1%.
- Multi Shot Trigger (Ranger): special arrows now trigger flurry of arrows from Multi Shot skill.
- Multi Shot (Ranger): shooting regular (now special) arrows has a 20% to spawn a flurry of arrows that spread slightly.
- Multi Shot Spread: add a 25% chance to spawn Flurry of Arrows.
- Arsonist (Wizard): all fire damage is increased by 10%.

What this skill stack does is give your explosive arrows 30% more damage and also the chance to spawn multiple. During the Fell Dragon fight, you can see two damage procs from the image above with one critical 2,500 damage. These arrows also take advantage of backstab which can be increased by 55% with two skills. Therefore, this bow, skill, and elemental combination has the most upside of any weapon, arguably in the game.

Adding another element, the Gem of Burning, to this deadly combination and you get even more fire damage. Once the gem is upgraded to level 30 or higher, you can trigger a five-second stream of fire damage and reset the cooldown immediately. This results in a 100% uptime and health bar-melting extra bit of damage. The developers released a new gem aimed at the bow, but it’s nothing compared to fire damage over 5 seconds.

Plus, all of your extra fire damage can benefit from the Prayer of the Flame Scroll 20% increase. Yes, that amplifies the explosive arrows and your fire elemental damage from your bow even further. While you would think fire would be a magic user’s best friend, it turns out due to the mechanics of Enshrouded, this is optimal on bow users thanks to the explosive arrow damage type of fire. This is why we rank the Ignited Bow number one best bow in Enshrouded because it’s damage multipliers and overall burst potential.
2. Drak Whistle Bow (Debuff)

Drak Whistle Bow Bonuses and Features:
- Reaping: Defeat an enemy to gain a stamina regeneration buff
- Brutal: 20% Increased critical strike damage
- +10% Magic Shock Damage
- +10% Magic Shock Damage
- Opportunistic: 10% critical strike against soaked enemies

The second best bow in Enshrouded is the Drak Whisle Bow because of its shock damage and synergy with the newly introduced (Update 7) debuff Soaked. Soaked occurs when the player fully swims underwater. This lasts for a brief time (around 30 seconds). Wet occurs after the Soaked debuff ends; the player retains the Wet status for approximately 7 minutes. While the player is under the Wet status, they can use the newly introduced Gem of Currents to apply the Soaked debuff to enemies.

The primary reason the Soaked debuff is critical for Bow/Ranger builds is the enhanced performance of specific gear traits and items against Soaked targets.
- Opportunistic (Gear Trait): Increases Critical Chance by 10% This is double the benefit of the standard Precise trait, providing a major boost to overall critical hit frequency.
- Ruthless (Gear Trait): Increases Critical Damage by 30% This is a 10% increase over the Brutal trait, allowing Ranger critical hits to deal massive damage.
This weapon has the Opportunistic trait, giving you double the critical chance of the precise trait, though you have to apply the soaked debuff and be aware of the constant need to dip into water.
Another benefit is the Reaping trait which gives back stamina on a kill. Stamina and regeneration across the board were reduced in Update 7, making sustain much more difficult. This helps to constantly keep up the buff and keep your stamina sustained. Reaping gains 10 stamina regeneration for four seconds and it can be maintained 100% of the time if you’re constantly killing enemies.
While Drak Whisle Bow has great upsides, it doesn’t compare to the raw power of Explosive Arrow and fire damage combo of the Ignited Bow. If it had some way to increase explosive arrow damage directly, or more survivability traits like health leech, we would rank it higher on this list.
3. Talion’s Bow (Early Bow)

Talion’s Bow Bonuses and Features:
- +10% Magic Shock Damage
- 5% Health Leech
- +10% Magic Shock Damage
- 5% Stamina Leech
- +10% Magic Shock Damage

The best early game bow is Talion’s Bow formerly called the Fell Commander’s bow. Weapons were reworked in Update 7 to include name and trait changes. This bow is a lore weapon, meaning it drops from the same location and can be found easily in the Revelwood Ancient Bridge area by killing the Fell Commander.

The strength of the bow is health and stamina leech. Both of these traits help you sustain health and stamina at the early stage of the game. Moreover, you can combine this bow with the Gemini Rings (two) and have even more life leech. This makes up for the Bow’s lack of passive healing via skills and allows you to deal damage and not spam potions or bandages. Gemini Rings can be found in Moth’s Grove a Shroud area in northern part of the springlands.

Lastly, since this is a lore weapon, you can recraft Talion’s Bow at a higher level. That means, you can constantly recraft and use the bow as you advance in level so it doesn’t fall behind in power. The downside is, it won’t be at fully upgraded legendary quality, but if you need the Health Leech on your weapon, it’s a guaranteed way to get it.
We would rank Talion’s bow higher on our list if it had more damage added perks. However, stamina and health leech are perfect for leveling and it can be obtained around level 15 making it the best starter bow in Enshrouded.
4. Devilish Bow (Assassin’s Bow)

Devilish Bow Bonuses and Features:
- +10% Poison Damage
- Vicious: 20% Backstab damage
- Brutal: 20% Increased critical strike damage
- Reaping: Defeat an enemy to gain a stamina regeneration buff
- Vicious: 20% Backstab damage

The Devilish Bow is ranked fourth on our list and is perfect for Assassin build players who spec into backstab damage and poison. The best skill to synergize with this playstyle is Slice and Dice: after a critical strike with a dagger, the damage of your next bow attack is increased by 50%. You can therefore sneak up, critical hit backstab a target, peel back and fire off a massive bow attack that gets a big boost.

Another fun combination to take advantage of the poison damage is to add a Gem of Toxic Betrayal. Since you’re playing a bow at range, you can choose when and where to strike a target. Start from the back to gain the poison debuff over time and add extra damage.
Overall, the Devilish Bow falls short in comparison to the other bows on this list in terms of power. It’s more of a niche bow focused on stealth assassin playstyle, but still has a purpose in Enshrouded gameplay.
5. Forsaken (Elemental King)

Forsaken Bow Bonuses and Features:
- +10% Poison Damage
- +10% Shroud Damage
- +10% Shock Damage
- +10% Ice Damage
- +10% Fire Damage
The main benefit of the Forsaken bow is its inherent elemental damage of all kinds. This is helpful when you encounter enemies who are resistant to certain damage types. In case you’re unaware, here’s how the elements work in Enshrouded:
- Fire: Can apply a Damage-over-Time (DoT) burn effect.
- Ice (Frost/Cold): Often slows enemies or reduces their combat effectiveness.
- Shock (Lightning): Known for stunning or temporarily disrupting enemies.
- Shroud: Direct damage type, synergizes with Shroud-based combat bonuses.
- Poison: Damage-over-Time (DoT). Effective for sustained damage on tough targets.
Also, note that different enemies are resistant or vulnerable to certain types of damage in Enshrouded. Below is a helpful chart to explain:
| Enemy Category | Weakness (Vulnerable To) | Resistance (Resisted By) |
| Fell Enemies | Fire | Shroud (Often Immune), Poison (Resistant) |
| Scavengers | Ice, Shroud | Fire, Poison (Resistant) |
| Wildlife/Fauna | Fire, Shroud | Ice (Resistant), Poison (Generally Neutral) |
| Vukah (Beastmen) | Fire, Shroud | Ice (Resistant) |
| Hollow Enemies (Skeletons/undead) | Blunt (Physical), Fire | Shroud, Poison (Resistant) |
While this bow isn’t a meta weapon, it helps when facing a variety of enemies and dealing consistent damage.
Additional bows to consider for your Enshrouded builds include the Wolf’s Snarl Longbow, Silvershot Bow, Shadowbane Bow, and Wildwood Shortbow.
