This guide has been updated for Enshrouded Update 8, Forging the Path. Expect many combat changes, including heavy attacks, weapon abilities (ultimate), and revamped skill tree. Moreover, the gear like armor and accessories can now be upgraded, giving you even more bonuses and options. Below we go through the entire updated build giving you tips and selections to make the Battlemaster build shine in 2026.
Enshrouded Wand Build Overview
The Wand build focuses on optimizing the Wand weapon using elemental buffs and skills to do as much damage as possible. What makes the Wand weapon unique is it’s range and ability to block while holding a ranged weapon. While a one-handed Sword functions similarly, the Wand has superior range and damage including elemental types that can get buffed from armor and other sources. This makes the Wand one of the best weapons.
Another strength of the Wand is, it doesn’t require any mana to attack. Simply use your attack button and it hits targets at medium range. This allows you to swap to a Staff for an initial attack at far range with Fireball, then quickly swap to a Wand for medium to close range combat and blocking / parrying. There are also various gear sets that buff Wand damage directly, making it not only viable but one of the best, simplest, and easiest weapons and builds to play.
The major downside to the Wand is it doesn’t have max range like a Bow or Staff. However, you can carry both of these weapons with you in case you need to use at the start or mid battle. Additionally, the Wand elemental damage can be mitigated or resisted by certain monsters, so you’ll have good and bad match up if you’re solely focus on one element like fire.
The current end-game content in Enshrouded is the Veilwater Basin area with enemies at level 45 in the northern region. You can reach level 45 and we will walk you through how to setup a Wand build for Enshrouded’s latest patch and Update 8.

Attributes Distribution and Optimization – Wand

In Update 8 of Enshrouded, you will now find that armor and rings have additional bonuses for skills. The only skill to directly increase Intelligence (outside of intelligence nodes) is Exalted. This change is important because no longer are armor sets merely about stat increases, but also critical skills that push your builds power even further.
Additionally, Update 7 overhauled food, so that too will no longer increase your max stats, but rather damage to range, melee, or magic. The result your primary stat (Intelligence) is harder to come by and skills that scale in effectiveness based on stats will be weaker.
The Wand’s damage scales in effectiveness with the Intelligence stat which will be the primary focus of the build. Since the Wand weapon doesn’t use mana to cast spells, you can have a lower investment in Spirit, which increases overall mana pool. This allows you to invest in chest and legs that are meant for tanks to gain a larger stat pool for health. The Wand will dip into Battlemage, Tank, and other skill lines to try to push max stats high.
Increasing your damage is done via your gear and food. Gear, specifically head and gloves have the bonuses that directly increase critical chance, critical damage, and weapon type. Food now increases damage by a percentage base rather than increasing your stats. Magic builds have two foods that can increase overall magic damage, thus keeping these two active at all times gives you the best damage possible (Algae Salad, Meat Wrap).
Lastly, you can increase your damage by selecting odd skills from different skill lines. For instance, the Ranger skill increase critical by 5% and critical damage by 5%. Increasing baseline critical is very hard, and with a low skill point investment later in the game, you can add even more damage with an odd selection.
Wand Build Skill Progression (Level 1-45)

The Wand build will focus primarily on the Battlemage, Healer, Wizard skill lines and also Tank for lower damage reduction. Battlemage skill line helps boost wand damage, Wizard increases elemental damage, while healer has all sorts of utility skills to take.
You will also take some skills from Survivor and Ranger. Survivor gives you an extra food slot which is critical for increasing overall combat power. Ranger, the skill Ranger, gives you 5% extra critical chance which doesn’t seem like a lot, but skills like Terror (spell crit) will stun on a Fireball cast. This will push your overall default critical chance with gear +30% and even to 40% with the right Wand. So, if it seems odd to use these skill lines, there is a purpose!
If you more favor crafting and building at end-game, skill the Ranger skill tree and get fun passives that help you harvest materials. Those last suggestions are for players wanting the most damage possible from the Wand build.
Enshrouded skills are currently capped at 184 skill points at max level 45 (Update 8). The final zone is Veilwater Basin, and in each zone you can collect additional skill points from Shroud Root and Elixir Wells. Therefore, you should look to clear each zone of these before progressing alongside your level increase for max skill points.
Best Wand Armor, Accessories, and Sets

| Ring 2 | Gemini Ring (or Ring of the Ancients) | +30 Health +5% Health Leech +5% Damage against Fell +1 Well Rested +3 Health Regeneration +1 Inner Fires (+2 time in shroud) |
The best gear set for the Wand build is the Hailcaster chest and the Flaming Gauntlets. The Hailcaster chest was released in a previous update, but gives a flat 8% Wand damage bonus which is unlike any of the newest gear sets. You can craft Hailcaster at Alchemist. The boots Bloodfeather Shoes are used because it gives both mana and stamina. These can be found in tombs throughout Veilwater Basin. Lastly, the Flaming Gauntlets gloves give a bonus to fire and wand damage, making superior to anything else in the game. These are found at the most north western part of the map in an area called Gateway Outpost Endflame. If you cannot obtain them, use the Alchemist Hailcaster gloves to get Wand damage this is the most important bonus.
Your chest and lower body can be used for more raw stats vs. a little bit more mana. The Sunpiercer chestplate gives a massive 360 health, while the Golden Bulwark Pants give an additional 135. The combination altogether gets you close to 1600 or more health, as much as a Barbarian without all the skill points into Constitution.
When it comes to rings and accessories, use the Gemini Rings or Ring of the Ancients, depending on your survivability. If you don’t mind crafting potions constantly, use two Ring of the Ancients because they boost damage and regeneration. Having one life leech ring helps because you get a flood of HP randomly,y allowing you to constantly attack.

You will find the Flaming Gauntlets at the location marked on the map and it will require Flame Altar level 9. Until then, use an item set that buffs Wand damage.

Another option is Frozen Gauntlets which gives a similar bonus, but for ice damage. The reason this isn’t used is the set wants you to apply the Soaked debuff. There are now many sets with the Soaked debuff, and it is fun to apply that and use shock damage. However, it can be unreliable to constantly apply this debuff and sometimes this bonus doesn’t work. Thus, keep it simple and easy, fire damage.
For other item sets, mix and match your chest and legs to get the most HP and stamina as possible. You can use another Tidecaller piece here, but you’ll sacrifice hundreds of health for mana you likely won’t need when fully buffed with food. For jewelry, Ring of the Ancients is your best bet for increasing damage and sustain. Use one Gemini Ring for a burst heal randomly when doing damage, or go with two Ancient rings for the most damage possible.
Early Game (Levels 5-13)
The first set of armor you can craft is at level 3, rugged via your manual crafting menu. After this, unlock the Blacksmith craftsperson and craft the Fur armor set. It won’t give you any magical bonuses, but it’s helpful to increase survivability. Shortly thereafter, you can unlock the Alchemist and craft your first magical set, Alchemist Apprentice at level 8. Look at the bonuses in the hat and gloves, and focus on wand damage vs. staff or healing. Below is the order to follow for the best start with armor on the Wand build:
- Level 3: Rugged (manual crafting menu)
- Level 5: Fur Armor (blacksmith)
- Level 8: Alchemist (alchemist)
- Level 13: Mage (alchemist)

If you can, get two Gemini Rings from the Fell Banshee in the Moth’s Grove area due north from the start. These help massively with health and survival.
Mid Game
After you’ve reached midgame, look to acquire these crafting sets:
- Level 18: Magician Set
- Level 23: Archmage Set
- Level 25: Elder Set
- Level 33: Hailcaster Set
You will also start finding “named” item sets that are usually +2 levels above. For instance, level 25 areas have the “Elder” set. This is a better version of Archmage and can carry you to max level gear, at level 43. However, it’s often time not worth spending hours and hours getting this gear just to move off of it in a few hours of gameplay. Therefore, collect, store but don’t sweat the minor bonuses from crafting gear.
If your survivability is good, swap rings to Ring of the Ancients. This ring gives bonuses to damage and resource sustain. You can find it from the boss in Northern area called the Pike or via chest in Kindlewastes.
Best-in-Slot Wand Gear Setup
For the best gear setup for a Wand, use this armor:
- Head: Tidecaller Headpiece (Alchemist)
- Chest: Hailcaster Chest (Alchemist)
- Arms: Flaming Gauntlets (Veilwater Basin)
- Lower Body: Golden Bulwark Pants (Blacksmith)
- Feet: Bloodfeather Shoes (Tombs in Veilwater Basin)
- Ring 1: Ring of the Ancients (random drop Kindlewastes)
- Ring 2: Gemini Ring (Springlands drop)
- Shield: Prismatic Ward (Blacksmith)
Best Wand Weapons

| Item | Equipment | Bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Primary (Wand) | Polymath’s Wand | +10% Fire Damage +10% Fire Damage +20% Critical Strike Damage +10% Fire Damage +20% Critical Strike Damage |
| Secondary (Staff) | Staff of Guidance | +10% Fire Damage +20% Critical Strike Damage +10% Fire Damage +20% Critical Strike Damage +20% Critical Strike Damage |
| Bow (Stun Arrows) | Avalanche Starter | +20% Piercing Damage +20% Piercing Damage 20% Crit Strike Damage 3 Stamina Regen +5% Health Leech |
| Axe (Pot Breaking) | Champion’s Axe | +20% Cutting Damage +20% Crit Strike Damage +5% Health Leech 5% Crit Strike Chance 5% Health Leech |
| Shield | Prismatic Ward | 17 Block 268 Parry Power +7 Mana Regen +10% Ice Resistance +10 Shock Resistance |
The Polymath’s Wand is the best weapon for the build because it increases fire damage and critical strike damage. This wand will melt targets with Flaming Gauntlets and Gem of Burning combined. There are many wands to choose from, the most important part is that it has at least one or more bonuses of Fire to trigger Burning Gem. The Brutal bonus, adding 20% critical damage, means you can expect massive crits. To that end, you want to get the same element type for your Staff and Guidance Staff offers almost the same bonuses.
Keep some other weapons on you for utility. The Bow is used for the Fell Dragon fight with Shroud Arrows and not that useful beyond that. An axe for breaking pots and collecting materials is also handy. Lastly, your Shield will regenerate mana passively and give resistances. Since the latest zone is geared towards Shock damage, the Prismatic Ward is your best bet.
In Summary, get a fire based Wand, and make sure to upgrade it so there’s one line of fire damage at least.
How to Get Weapons

The best place to farm end game legendary weapons in the Veilwater Basin is the Northwest area. We have a separate guide on this listed below, but the items will be on roughly 1 to 2 hour chest timers. You cannot craft end-game Wands, but can get a starter Wand. We
If you take a look at the picture above, you can find gold chest and mark them which give the highest chance of legendary weapon drops. Therefore, you want to login, setup flame altars near these chest, and make a rotation killing bosses, opening gold chest, and finding that perfect weapon with your ideal trait. You can always go with health leech which is effective on every build and playstyle.
Best Battlemage Spells

The best spell for the Wand build is the craftable Fireball IV (Eternal Fireball II) which deals 99 fire damage and has a 2 second cast time. There is an eternal (never runs out) fireball spell which is better for sustain useage. While you’re not necessarily going to be casting fireballs a lot, you should at the start of battle and in AOE fights when mana is high.

The reason this is important is the Terror skill passive which stuns enemies for four seconds on critical strikes. You can stun lock waves of enemies or bosses with one critical. You won’t be able to sustain casting constant fireballs, but need to understand how this mechanic works.
Another good spell is Magic Shield because it helps protect against melee and range damage. The shield spell was added in Update 7 and allows you to pre-buff with a massive shield that last for 45 seconds or after damage is taken. It has a long cast time and a high mana cost, but if you’re not in the thick of a fight, you can pre-buff and get some survivability added before jumping in. You can craft this spell with the Alchemist.
Make sure to keep Eternal Chain Lightning on you as well because it builds the stun bar and drains stamina for enemies. This can be used on a single target fight to trigger more frequent stuns when you can get the back of enemies and take advantage of the two backstab skill bonuses.
Below are the recommended spell loadout:
| Spell | Type | Use Case for Wand Build |
| Eternal Chain Lightning | Stuns | Use on solo bosses as crowd control method. |
| Eternal Heal Channel | Utility/Healing | Essential Solo Tool. Channelled healing that keeps you topped off between blocking/wand bursts. |
| Eternal Ice Bolt II | Offensive | Primary Eternal Damage. Fast cast time (~1s) allows for quick bursts when the enemy is stunned or parried. |
| Eternal Fireball II | Offensive | High damage AOE. Use only with a Staff from a safe distance to clear groups quickly. |
| Eternal Chain Heal | Utility/Multiplayer | Best choice for a supportive Battlemage in a group, healing multiple targets. |
| Shroud Meteor | Offensive | Extreme burst. Too long to cast in close quarters; only use from outside the fight. |
Wand Mechanics, Blocking, and Parrying
Unlike the Staff, the Wand has a small cast time and doesn’t consume spells or mana to do damage. Also, you can quickly block and mitigate damage while holding a Wand and it doesn’t require a bar swap. Moreover, with Wand Master skill, you can get extra projectiles and with Sting, more damage for repeated attacks. While holding a Wand, you also now generate mana which you can use for a Spell with a Staff to stun targets. Realize bar swapping or weapon swapping is seamless, but the charge time for the Staff is what makes it hard to use without space or as an opening shot.
You will also want to understand how blocking and parrying works. With your shield equipped, here are some tips for blocking and parrying:
- Blocking: Hold your guard to reduce or negate damage, using stamina as a resource. The higher your Block Power, the less stamina you lose.
- Parrying: Tap block just before an enemy attack lands to stagger the enemy and open them up for counter damage. Parry Power determines how much stagger you inflict. Once the bar is filled at top (grey bar), you stun the enemy.
The wand and shield combination allows you to play reactively, attacking with your wand at medium range, swapping to staff for long range, then blocking in melee. Mastering parry timing gives the Battlemage a major advantage in boss fights or dense enemy groups.
Best Wand Consumables and Buffs

Algae Salad is the best consumable for the Battlemage because it boosts magic damage by 21% and adds +120 mana. Consumables were reworked in Update 7 and no longer give raw stats like +1 intelligence. With the Dessert Stomach skill from the Survivor tree, you can maintain four food buffs simultaneously. Therefore, make sure to have a buff for health, regeneration, stamina, and magic damage. You can craft all the best consumables below at the Farmer Craftsperson:
| Food | Type | Duration | Stats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Algae Salad | Rare (Mushroom) | 45 min | +120 Mana +21% Melee Damage |
| Meat Wrap | Uncommon (Meat) | 50min | +200 Health +6% Magic Damage |
| Strawberry Milkshake | Rare (Fruit) | 50 min | +18 Health Regeneration +12 Stamina Regeneration |
| Herbal Mountain Tea | Uncommon (Liquid) | 40 min | +100 Mana +50 Stamina |
Best Wand Build Buffs & Combat Consumables
The best buff for the Wand build is the Pray of the Flame Scroll because it increases fire damage by 20%. Assuming your Wand and Staff both use flame damage, this will be a great buff source. Below are additional buffs and consumables you should carry and use:
| Item | Type / Source | Effects |
|---|---|---|
| Prayer of the Flame Scroll | Looted | +20% Increased Fire damage |
| Elixir | Looted | +20% damage against Fell |
| Greater Skull Summoning Vessel | Hollow Dungeon | Summons a temporary skull ally |
| Ice Protection Lotion | Crafted / Hollow Drops | +1 Ice Armor per Level for 30 min |
| Superior Mana Potion | Crafted (Alchemist) | Restores +250 Mana |
| Superior Health Potion | Crafted (Alchemist) | Restores +1000 Health |
| Flask of the Fell | Crafted (Alchemist) | +20 Stamina for 30 min |
| Greater Shroud Survival Flash | Looted | +4 Min Time in the Shroud |
Early Game Consumable
At the start of your adventure, stick with simple but effective foods and ingredients:
- Meat for increased Constitution (survivability).
- Mushrooms for higher Intelligence and spell scaling.
- Berries for natural health regeneration.
As you recruit the Farmer NPC, invest in expanding her recipe list to unlock higher-tier options like Glow Soup, Milkshake, and Pumpkin Soup. Pair these foods with Alchemist potions for a balanced setup that keeps your Battlemage effective in every stage of Enshrouded.
Best Wand Gems

This wand build revolves around fire damage, and the Gem of Burning is the best for it. It has a five-second cooldown, but triggers when dealing flame damage. Your initial hit with a Wand fire type will trigger the effect and deal massive fire damage. Plus, once a level 30 or higher gem, you can get 100% uptime on the debuff because the duration lasts for more than five seconds. It’s not as flashy as other gems, but if you go the full fire build route, it will do massive damage, and you will see the health bar shredded.
If you don’t have a fire base Wand, Gem of Storm’s Eye is a good alternative because it does lightning bolt AOE damage. In Veilwater basin, the Gem of Currents is also good if you interact with the Soaked debuff.
The easiest way to get the Gem of Burning is from the Fell Banshee in Moth’s Grove that drops the Gemini Ring.
Rotation and Combat Tips for Wand
The overall combat style for the Wand is all about medium range, strafing, and creating space when you need a Staff Fireball. Start off combat charging a two second Eternal Fireball II at max distance if you can. This can stun the target, and if it doesn’t, keep firing Fireballs until you run out of mana or they get close. Then, swap to your Wand and start moving side to side attacking.
The reason you move side to side is to avoid lunge attacks but also backstab damage. If you get the back, you will increase damage by 55% with two passives. This is why you want to stun with Fireball / Terror skill combo, sprint to back, and melt with the Wand. You also want to leave one slot on your bar unarmed because the Begone skill allows you to punch and flank enemies. This too can help you get the back more often and ramp up damage.
For survivability, keep Eternal Heal Channel, Bandages, and Potions on you at all times. If you have mana, do two to three blinks around a hiding spot and channel the Heal spell. It will take a few seconds but will start healing you. You also want Bandages as a powerful heal over time and potions only when your health is critical low and you need a burst heal.
Best Glider
The best Glider for this build in Enshrouded is the Ghost Glider. The Ghost Glider is a level 30 legendary glider with increased range and speed compared to others in the game. Unlike previous Gliders which can be crafted, you must find this one in a Gold Chest at the top of the South-East Sun Temple.
Travel south from the Kindlewaste Ancient Spire and past the Scatterbone Scavenger area. The Ghost Glider is through the temple which will require some fighting and puzzles.
