Enshrouded Wizard Build Overview

The Wizard build in Enshrouded uses the Wizard, Battlemage, and Healer skill lines to increase overall magic damage and output. The Wizard primarily uses magical weapons like the Staff for damage with the Wand and Shield as a backup. The Staff requires a short charge time, then cast your selected spell and consumes mana. The advantage of the Staff as a magic weapon is its massive area damage. Moreover, the game has added more spells, specifically eternal spells which can be cast over and over. Therefore, if you want simple, massive area (AOE) damage, Wizard is the build for you!
The downside of the Wizard build is it will be “squishier” or lower survivability than a Barbarian or Battlemage build. The upside is incredible damage. You’ll also have to learn to create space in order to cast your spells before getting interrupted, thus movement is critical. You will also have some passive healing via Water Aura skill and passive damage to shroud enemies via Radiant Aura. Players in RPGs who love big AOE damage, flashy spells, and fun factor will love the Wizard.
At current end-game for Enshrouded 1.0 character level 50, and Gear Level 55, the Wizard is one of the strongest builds due to it’s range and built in passive healing. However, the Fell Dragon boss will require you to use a bow and stun arrows to knock down the target. Without this, you will struggle to kill it solo. We will give you all the tools, information that you need to successful destroy everything in this Enshrouded wizard build guide!

What’s New In Enshrouded 1.0?
The biggest changes for the Archer Build in Enshrouded 1.0 include the increased level cap for characters (level 50) and increased Gear Cap (level 55). This means you will want to swap out your weapons and armor to achieve the best results at end game. New spells have been added to the game, and more Eternal Spells and Eternal Arrow options now exist.
For leveling and progression, several new skills will be added to the Enshrouded skill trees. A new biome has been added in the Lava Biome that also includes floating islands. This new content will allow players to earn even more skill points to advance their build further into the skill trees and become more powerful.
New gems and consumables, food and drink options will be available as well so make sure to bookmark this page as we will work actively to update this build once Enshrouded 1.0 releases.
Wizard Build Attributes and Optimization

In Update 8 of Enshrouded, armor and rings added bonuses for skills. The only skill to directly increase Intelligence (outside of intelligence nodes) is Exalted. This change is important because no longer are armor sets merely about stat increases, but also critical skills that push your builds power even further.
Additionally, Update 7 overhauled food, so that too will no longer increase your max stats, but rather damage to range, melee, or magic. The result your primary stat (Intelligence) is harder to come by and skills that scale in effectiveness based on stats will be weaker.
The most important stat to increase is Intelligence. This not only increases your damage, but also many other skills and passive healing and damage. Water Aura heals you per second based on your intelligence while Life Burst also gives you health when killing an enemy. Therefore, you must optimize for max intelligence via accessories and skills to get the most out of the Wizard.
The second most important attribute point is constitution, not spirit. You need a massive health pool to survive incoming blows and shroud damage. Your overall goal is to strafe and dodge and avoid incoming damage, but it will still happen and you won’t have the armor to deal with it. Spirit can be helpful, but there are many ways to regenerate mana, specifically swapping to the Wand and attacking and the Unity skill along with mana leech trait on your weapons.
Next, you want some dexterity or dex recovery. Your best friend for survival is spamming Blink (dodge) to create space. You can balance all of these stats and regeneration by obtaining the Dessert Stomach skill and getting another food slot.
In summary, focus mainly on intelligence with high constitution and some good spirit and dexterity recovery.
Wizard Build Skill Progression (Level 1-45)

Enshrouded skills are currently capped at 184 skill points at max level 45 (Update 8). The final zone is Veilwater Basin, and in each zone you can collect additional skill points from Shroud Root and Elixir Wells. Therefore, you should look to clear each zone of these before progressing alongside your level increase for max skill points.
When building an effective Wizard, it is crucial to prioritize Wizard and Healer skills that increase damage, help mobility, and provide passive healing. The Mass Destruction and Chain Hit at the end of the Wizard tree makes your build an AOE monster. However, we start the skill selections with some utility via double jump and survival before moving into high damage. Therefore, it the build starts slow, just wait to level 15+ where damage picks up. Below we list the best skills to select in order for the Ultimate Wizard build in Enshrouded:
Best Wizard Armor, Accessories, and Sets

| Slot | Equipment | Bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Head | Circlet of Lightning | +54 Mana +18 Mana Regeneration +15% Shock Damage +21% Crit Strike Chance vs. Soaked +2 Spellslinger +1 Terror +1 Thunder |
| Upper Body | Tidecaller Tunic | +180 Health +144 Mana 3 Min Wet Duration Reduction +1 Wizard |
| Arms | Tidecaller Gloves | +18% Staff Damage +13% Damage Against Magic enemies 1:30 Min Wet Duration Reduction +1 Quick Charge |
| Lower Body | Tidecaller Pants | +54 Mana +12 Mana Regen 2 min Wet Duration Reduction +1 Bloodletting |
| Feet | Tidecaller Shoes | +24 Mana Regen -0.4s Mana Regen Delay 1:30 Min Wet Duration Reduction +1 Necromancer |
| Ring 1 | Ring of the Ancients | +4 Health Regen +5 Mana Regen +4 Stamina Regen +1 Warrior’s Path +1 Mage Apprentice +1 Marksman +1 Well rested +5 Critical Strike Chance |
| Ring 2 | Gemini Ring | +30 Health +5% Health Leech +5% Damage against Fell +1 Well Rested +3 Health Regeneration +1 Inner Fires (+2 time in shroud) |
Circlet of Lightning is the best piece of gear for the Wizard build in Enshrouded, while Tidecaller is the best set. The Circlet of Lightning headpiece is a unique armor found in the Endflame Scavenger camp in Veilwater Basin and it gives 15% shock damage and a massive 21% critical chance against soaked targets. This piece of gear is specific for players using the Lightning specific loadout, and if they apply the Soaked debuff via the Gem, will deal massive amounts of damage. Tidecaller is the set that increases staff damage, magic critical, and critical chance.
When it comes to rings and accessories, use one Gemini Ring and one Ring of the Ancients. Gemini contains life leech chance which stacks with Life Burst skill. Meanwhile, the Ring of the Ancients gives a 5% damage bonus to magic. If you have great survival, use two Ancients, or weak survival, use two Gemini rings.
Early Game
The first set of armor you can craft is at level 3, rugged via your manual crafting menu. After this, unlock the Blacksmith craftsperson and craft the Fur armor set. It won’t give you any magical bonuses, but it’s helpful to increase survivability. Shortly thereafter, you can unlock the Alchemist and craft your first magical set, Alchemist at level 8. Look at the bonuses in the hat and gloves and focus on wand damage vs. staff or healing. Below is the order to follow for the best start with armor on the Battlemage build:
- Level 3: Rugged (manual crafting menu)
- Level 5: Fur Armor (blacksmith)
- Level 8: Alchemist Apprentice (alchemist)
- Level 13: Mage (alchemist)
As a general rule, your chest doesn’t offer much offensive bonuses thus you can wear “melee” and gain lots of HP. Your gloves and head is where your damage sources come from while boots and legs are for regeneration and other statuses. Therefore, look to take a chest piece from the blacksmith, and head and gloves from Alchemist. You can even take more mana generating in legs and boots from Alchemist, or go for more health regeneration via Blacksmith. Either way, look at the gloves and head to optimize for critical.

If you can, get two Gemini Rings from the Fell Banshee in the Moth’s Grove area due north from the start. These help massively with health and survival.
Mid Game
After you’ve reached midgame, look to acquire these crafting sets:
- Level 18: Magician set
- Level 23: Archmage set
- Level 25: Elder set
- Level 33: Thaumaturge set
You will also start finding “named” item sets that are usually +2 levels above. For instance, level 25 areas have the “Elder” set. This is a better version of Archmage and can carry you to max level gear, at level 33. However, it’s often time not worth spending hours and hours getting this gear just to move off of it in a few hours of gameplay. Therefore, collect, store but don’t sweat the minor bonuses from crafting gear.
If your survivability is good, swap rings to Ring of the Ancients vs Gemini Ring. This ring gives stat bonus of +5% bonus to magic damage, which helps nuke things much faster. You can find it from the boss in the Northern area called the Pike, or via a chest in Kindlewastes.
Best-in-Slot Wizard Gear Setup
For the best gear setup for a Wizard, use this armor:
- Shield: Prismatic Ward (Blacksmith)
- Head: Circlet of Lightning (Veilwater Basin)
- Chest: Tidecaller Tunic (Alchemist)
- Arms: Tidecaller Gloves (Alchemist)
- Lower Body: Tidecaller Shoes (Alchemist)
- Feet: Tidecaller Shoes (Alchemist)
- Ring 1: Ring of the Ancients (Kindlewastes)
- Ring 2: Gemini Ring (Springlands)
Best Wizard Weapons, & Spells

| Item | Equipment | Bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Primary (Staff) | Violet Storm | +10% Shock Damage 5% Crit Strike Chance 4 Mana Regen 10% increased crit chance against soaked enemies 30% crit damage against saoked enemies |
| Secondary (Wand) | Mythic Wand | +20% Magic Shock Damage 5% Mana Leech +20% Magic Shock Damage 5% Crit Strike Chance 5% Crit Strike Chance |
| Bow (Stun Arrows) | Avalanche Starter | +20% Piercing Damage +20% Piercing Damage 20% Crit Strike Damage 3 Stamina Regen +5% Health Leech |
| Axe (Pot Breaking) | Champion’s Axe | +20% Cutting Damage +20% Crit Strike Damage +5% Health Leech 5% Crit Strike Chance 5% Health Leech |
| Shield | Prismatic Ward | 17 Block 268 Parry Power +7 Mana Regen +10% Ice Resistance +10 Shock Resistance |
The reason Violet Storm is the best Staff in Enshrouded thanks to the new Soaked debuff, two new weapon traits (Opportunistic, Ruthless), and new gear that combines to form a super build. The first piece is the spell Eternal Chain Lightning which deals shock damage, one second cast time, draining stamina, and filling the enemies stun bar. The stun bar part is important because it “stacks” with Terror skill. If you continuously cast on a single target, it will either fill up their stun bar and crowd control them or a critical and Terror skill proc will stun. Therefore, it gives the spellcaster a powerful way to control bosses including the Fell Dragon boss.
This staff is a random drop found in Veilwater Basin. You can use a different staff, but it will change many gear and weapon options if you swap so be aware. The TLDR is, your Wizard passive perks need to match (Arsonist vs. Iceman) the type of element you are using. While leveling, don’t fuss with it, just swap at end-game.
You’ll also want a Wand and Shield to swap to when taking incoming melee damage. Keep on you an Axe to break pots and collect materials especially fish in Drak areas. Also a Bow with Stun arrows is helpful for the Howling Peak Fell Dragon boss. Lastly, the Shield is best used with a Prismatic Ward because it now grants mana regen and resistance to Ice and Shock by 10%.
How to get Weapons

Most weapons are found randomly by killing bosses or looting chest. You cannot craft end game Staff and Wand weapons for the Healer build. Thus, you should spend some time grinding in your current location and marking maps. If you take a look at the picture above, you can find gold chest and mark them which give the highest chance of legendary weapon drops. The best area is the northwest after you’ve upgraded your flame to rank 9.
Therefore, you want to login, setup flame altars near these chest, and make a rotation killing bosses, opening gold chest, and finding that perfect weapon with your ideal trait. You can always go with health leech which is effective on every build and playstyle. Note, in update 8, chest will take a long time to respawn and the log out and log in trick will not work. Thus, do a sweep of the chest locations then do other gameplay before checking some hours later.
Charges vs Eternal Spells
Charges are consumable spell-uses for your staff: you craft or loot a finite number and each cast uses one. Eternal spells (marked with the infinity symbol “∞”) instead offer infinite uses once crafted, but cost more mana/time and require higher-tier materials.
- You’ll need to unlock the Balthazar the Alchemist NPC and build his Alchemy Station/Laboratory to craft many of the better spells.
- Eternal spells generally deal more damage (or better utility) than standard charges; but they often have longer cast times, higher mana cost, and demand rarer materials.
- Until you unlock them, you’ll rely on regular charges which are cheaper to craft/obtain but run out and typically deal less damage.
Thus, for a wizard build you’ll want to aim for Eternal spells as your end-game go-to, but invest early in strong consumables to carry you through.
Top Spells & Charges for a Wizard Build

The best spell for the Wizard is Eternal Chain Lightning, using shock damage, a much faster cast time, and less mana. The strength of Eternal Chain Lightning is that it does single target damage, can jump to other enemies and it fills up their stun bar. Moreover, you can take the Terror skill in Trickster tree and constantly stun on criticals or fill up the enemies bar after multiple cast. Plus, it’s double the speed of Fireball! Just make sure you take the shock damage increase passives once you unlock and craft this spell at the Alchemist. The materials needed are plenty, so buckle up and get some silver ready! Below are our other recommended spells.
Also, make sure you get the Eternal Lightning Channel (different than Chain). It’s single target holding down the trigger endlessly stun locking a single target.
Offensive Spells
- Eternal Lightning Channel – single target hold trigger high damage spell.
- Eternal Chain Lightning – AOE spell quick cast high damage.
- Eternal Fireball II – High damage, area‐of‐effect fire spell. Strongest all-round offensive pick after acid was nerfed. Best when you have the mana and cast time.
- Eternal Ice Bolt II – Best early “eternal” option. Slightly lower damage than Fireball, but faster cast (~1s) and good for spamming.
- Eternal Acid Bite – Poison spit style, previously top tier, but it was nerfed and now under-performs compared to Fireball in many cases. Use it situationally (e.g., poison-vulnerable mobs) rather than default.
- Lightning Channel – A channeled shock spell (i.e., you hold the cast to continue damage) good for sustained DPS.
- Shroud Meteor – Ultimate “burst” option. High damage, but long cast time (3 s+), making it riskier.
Utility / Healing Spells
- Eternal Heal Channel – Channelled healing: you hold the spell and heal over time. Excellent solo survival tool.
- Eternal Chain Heal – Good for multiplayer or support wizard roles: the heal bounces between allies.
- Eternal Light Burst – Lower damage, but area-effect “burst” spell that hits 360° around you; useful for crowd control or repositioning in tight situations.
Niche / Situational Spell
- Bone Channel II – Added in the “Hollows” dungeon update: designed for undead skeleton-type enemies (in the Hollows). Strong damage, channelled effect, but there is no eternal version yet (so it uses charges).
- Limited range and higher crafting cost (requires Ectoplasm Fragments + Giant Bones).
- Use for specific dungeon runs/bosses rather than general use.
Recommended Wizard Spell Loadout
Putting it all together for a wizard build:
- Early game: Prioritise unlocking Alchemist NPC → craft Ice Bolt (regular) + Fireball I charges. Use healing channel/chain heal for sustainability.
- Mid game: Unlock Eternal Ice Bolt, Eternal Fireball. Use Fireball as primary damage, Ice Bolt as backup/faster cast.
- Boss/final content: Craft Shroud Meteor (for big burst), maintain Lightning Channel for sustained fights, and keep healing spells ready. Consider Bone Channel for Hollows dungeon runs.
- Gear & stats: Focus on Intelligence (spell damage/staff bonus) and Spirit (mana pool). Invest in gear that boosts these. Use a staff as your main weapon, but consider having a wand+shield combo handy for defense since staffs prevent blocking in many cases.
- Always be mindful of cast time & vulnerability: Long cast spells (e.g., Shroud Meteor, Acid Bite) leave you exposed. Use terrain, cover, or crowd control to protect your cast.
- Elemental diversity matters: Fire is generally strong vs many Shroud enemies. Ice gives control/speed. Poison/acid works situationally. Having multiple options allows adapting to enemy resistances.
- Crafting & prep: Keep stock of materials for your favourite spells. Eternal spells are “craft once, infinite uses,” so invest for long-term.
Best Wizard Consumables and Buffs

Algae Salad is the best consumable for the Wizard because it boosts magic damage by 21% and adds +120 mana. Consumables were reworked in Update 8 and no longer give raw stats like +1 intelligence. With the Dessert Stomach skill from the Survivor tree, you can maintain four food buffs simultaneously. Therefore, make sure to have a buff for health, regeneration, stamina, and magic damage. You can craft all the best consumables below at the Farmer Craftsperson:
| Food | Type | Duration | Stats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Algae Salad | Rare (Mushroom) | 45 min | +120 Mana +21% Melee Damage |
| Meat Wrap | Uncommon (Meat) | 50min | +200 Health +6% Magic Damage |
| Strawberry Milkshake | Rare (Fruit) | 50 min | +18 Health Regeneration +12 Stamina Regeneration |
| Herbal Mountain Tea | Uncommon (Liquid) | 40 min | +100 Mana +50 Stamina |
Best Wizard Buffs & Combat Consumables
Beyond food, Enshrouded offers powerful alchemical and scroll-based buffs that dramatically increase wizard effectiveness. These effects can stack with food bonuses, providing massive magic amplification, sustain, and defense.
| Item | Type / Source | Effects |
|---|---|---|
| Prayer of the Flame Scroll | Looted | +20% Increased Fire damage |
| Elixir | Looted | +20% damage against Fell |
| Greater Skull Summoning Vessel | Hollow Dungeon | Summons a temporary skull ally |
| Ice Protection Lotion | Crafted / Hollow Drops | +1 Ice Armor per Level for 30 min |
| Superior Mana Potion | Crafted (Alchemist) | Restores +250 Mana |
| Superior Health Potion | Crafted (Alchemist) | Restores +1000 Health |
| Flask of the Fell | Crafted (Alchemist) | +20 Stamina for 30 min |
| Greater Shroud Survival Flash | Looted | +4 Min Time in the Shroud |
Early Game Consumable
At the start of your adventure, stick with simple but effective foods and ingredients:
- Meat for increased Constitution (survivability).
- Mushrooms for higher Intelligence and spell scaling.
- Berries for natural health regeneration.
As you recruit the Farmer NPC, invest in expanding her recipe list to unlock higher-tier options like Glow Soup, Milkshake, and Pumpkin Soup. Pair these foods with Alchemist potions for a balanced setup that keeps your Wizard effective in every stage of Enshrouded.
Best Wizard Gems

Gem of Currents is the best for the Wizard build because it triggers extra shock damage on soaked enemies and triggers shocked to enemies. All you need to do is be wet or soaked by dipping in the water, and you can cause the Soaked debuff to the enemies and then expect extra damage via passives and gear.
You can get the gem of Currents by killing Drak Warriors in the Veilwater Basin Region.
Another alternative is Gem of Battle Mania which grants a resource sustain buff when an Elixir is active. While it requires a consumable to be active, it’s very helpful to have an incredible amount of resources sustain during tough battles.
Rotation and Combat Tips for Wizard
The Wizard in Enshrouded is a glass cannon, capable of huge magical damage but vulnerable when enemies get too close. Comba success comes from managing your range, using mobility, and mastering spell rotation timing. Below are key strategies for playing the Wizard effectively, from your opening attack to how to survive sustained fights and recover between engagements.
Opening Combat and Burst Damage
Your opening attack should always maximize range and power. Begin combat with a Staff equipped with a Fire Bolt or Eternal Fireball charge for the highest burst damage possible. This strong opener often weakens or eliminates weaker enemies before they can approach. After your initial strike, swap to a Wand and Magic Shield combination for better defense, you’ll still deal consistent ranged damage while gaining the ability to block if enemies rush you.
When engaging groups, use terrain to your advantage. Elevation, ledges, and obstacles can help maintain line of sight while avoiding melee attacks. Fire-based spells are generally the best opener due to their area-of-effect damage and high scaling with Intelligence.
Defense, Blocking, and Sustain
Wizards can’t rely solely on Blink to escape; cooldowns and tight dungeons make it risky. Always anticipate danger by pre-blocking with your magic shield when entering caves, tight hallways, or corners. This small habit can save you from heavy ambush damage. When multiple enemies close the distance, block, reposition, and follow up with an Ice Bolt or control spell before retreating to your optimal range.
Always carry Superior Health Potions and Superior Mana Potions to sustain yourself during long encounters. Health potions should be used reactively after a big hit, while mana potions can be used proactively to maintain spell uptime. Keep at least one Flask of the Fell active to boost stamina, helping with dodging and Blink mobility.
Movement, Positioning, and Blink Usage
The Wizard’s mobility is its lifeline. Blink is your primary defensive and positioning tool, use it to dodge large attacks, escape AoE zones, or instantly reposition to higher ground. The ideal distance to fight from is just at the edge of your wand or staff range, giving you maximum time to react when enemies push forward.
Avoid overusing Blink for travel; it’s better reserved for combat repositioning. Instead, use stamina and terrain navigation to stay mobile between fights. When enemies get too close and Blink is on cooldown, rely on wand blocking followed by a short retreat or crowd-control spell.
Best Glider
The best Glider for this build in Enshrouded is the Ghost Glider. The Ghost Glider is a level 30 legendary glider with increased range and speed compared to others in the game. Unlike previous Gliders which can be crafted, you must find this one in a Gold Chest at the top of the South-East Sun Temple.
Travel south from the Kindlewaste Ancient Spire and past the Scatterbone Scavenger area. The Ghost Glider is through the temple which will require some fighting and puzzles.
