ESO Best PVP Sets Ranked!
The best sets in ESO PvP are Rallying Cry, Daedric Trickery, and Plaguebreak or Vicious Death. Rallying Cry buffs you and your group with critical resistance and weapon and spell damage. Nothing has more utility for solo or group players, plus it can be back-barred. Daedric Trickery is useful because of the buffs that it provides and these buffs can stack, giving you a huge advantage. Lastly, both Plaguebreak and Vicious Death have AOE explosions that can kill large groups.

8. Wretched Vitality

(5 items) While in combat, applying a Major Buff or Debuff to a target grants you 260 Magicka and Stamina Recovery for 15 seconds. While in combat, applying a Minor Buff or Debuff to a target grants you 130 Magicka and Stamina Recovery for 15 seconds.
When it comes to resource sustain, consider using Wretched Vitality five piece set. This three trait craftable set is found in Deadlands and is helpful to maintain high resource sustain. How Wretched Vitality works is, when you cast a major or minor buff or debuff you gain 260 recovery for 15 seconds. If you do a minor buff, you gain an additional 130 recovery to magicka and stamina. Therefore, the trick is, to put a skill that does both a major and minor buff on your back bar, and trigger the regen. The regeneration persist through bar flipping, thus giving you a massive advantage.
The downside to Wretched Vitality is you get nearly the same resource sustain through the monster helm Roksa the Warped. It’s one of the best monster helms in PvP for this reason. However, if you struggle with resource sustain, back bar Wretched Vitality. Just make sure to use it on your back bar weapon and three other pieces, using one skill that does two buffs or debuffs (major/minor).

If you need a crafting set to get started in PvP, then Shattered Fate is where you start. What makes it so good is, you can craft every piece of gear and it’s helpful with a 12 item set bonus. Or, you can just use the five piece for offensive penetration and have a more complex setup with mythic and monster helms. Offensive penetration specifically is one of the most coveted stats in PvP. In Veteran PvE, mobs have 18,200 resistances. In PvP, players can easily have over 30,000 resistances. Therefore, this stat, not critical damage because the most valuable for pure damage.
The main drawback is the lack of recovery and procs or defensive buffs. Sure you get a lot of penetration, but not much else and have to relay on your skills for everything else. However, it’s a great starter set. You can find the crafting station in the Telvanni Penisula of Necrom near the center.
6. Mechanical Acuity

(5 items) When you deal non Critical Damage, you gain a stack of Mechanical Acuity for 4 seconds, granting you 20% Critical Strike chance per stack, up to once every 1 second and stacking up to 5 times. Upon reaching max stacks or after the effect ends, this effect cannot occur again for 25 seconds.
The best set for pure burst damage in PvP is still Mechanical Acuity. A six trait craftable set found in Clockwork City. Mech Acuity builds up stacks each granting critical chance, up until 100% critical is reached for four seconds. After this it goes on a 25 second cooldown. However, it gives player a burst window of 100% critical, making everything hit extremely hard.
How you use the set is build towards penetration and critical damage. Have zero critical in your build, thus you can build the stacks longer and have a bigger stat pool. Consider using Balorgh monster helm in addition, and absolutely demolish enemies once you reach max stacks.
The downsides to Mechanical Acuity are, it can be brutal to time the burst window properly. You may get stunned, target my line of sight, or you attack on the wrong bar. Thus, you lose out on your burst window and the effectiveness of the set. However, it’s still one of the best in PvP just a bit more complex to time and get working when you exactly need it.

(5 items) Dealing damage with a Light or Heavy Attack draws essence from the enemy that pools near them for 5 seconds. Drawing from the pool heals you for 3900 Health, restores 3900 Stamina, and increases your damage done by 10% for 10 seconds. A pool can only be created once every 10 seconds.
The set Essence Thief is balanced for both resource sustain and damage, though useful for melee builds only. When you deal light or heavy attacks, an essence spawns from the enemy. You must chase this small green icon and pick it up to get a buff. The buff gives a flat 10% increase in damage for 10 seconds, healing, and stamina. Better yet, it’s only a 10 second cooldown! This set is one of the best overall for dueling because you can reliably reach the essence and maintain high uptime on the buff.
You can obtain Essence Thief from the White-Gold Tower dungeon of Imperial City. This content is now base game, so it’s accessible and easy to get on normal mode. The obvious downside is, the essence is unpredictable and hard to pick up. Plus, in Cyrodiil, it might fall of a ledge or go the exact opposite position you want it to go. However, in small group, Imperial City or Dueling, Essence Thief is one of the best PvP sets.
4. Dark Convergence / Rush of Agony
In PvP, a common approach to large scale combat is “bombing.” In Bombing, you need two ingredients, a pull and a bomb. Dark Convergence and Rush of Agony solve the “pull” for you. Each of these sets pull players against their will when certain conditions have been met. The timing can be hard to pull off, but it yields the most spectacular multi-kills in PvP.
Dark Convergence is the light armor pull set while Rush of Agony is the medium armor set. It will take mainly attempts to get good at bombing, because some players make it look very easy. One trick is to use a immovability potion just before an attempt. This prevents you from getting stunned and missing your window. Below are the details on each gear set and how to get them.

3. Plaguebreak / Vicious Death
The second part of the bomb combo is the set that explodes upon one target dying. This is when you use Plaguebreak Vicious Death. Plaguebreak is the medium armor version while Vicious Death is the light armor equivalent. Most builds running Plaguebreak with Rush of Agony or Dark Convergence with Vicious Death, a monster helm and a mythic.
The strength of Plaguebreak is it’s useful with or without a pull and one of the best sets because it adds damage. Vicious Death however is limited to just bombing. But it’s worth mentioning both especially in Cyrodiil large population battles. Outside of this context, there are better sets, but consider Plaguebreak even for the DOT and damage it can do on potential multi-kill scenarios.

2. Daedric Trickery

(5 items) When you deal damage you gain one of 5 random Major Buffs for 21 seconds every 9 seconds. Eligible buffs are Expedition, Protection, Mending, Heroism, or Vitality.
The best overall defensive set is Daedric Trickery because it can stack one or more major defensive buffs. The buffs are giving at random, but you can back bar the set, light attack and trigger multiple buffs. Since they last 9 seconds, you can easily get three running at once. That’s better healing, less incoming damage, ultimate generation and speed. Moreover, the 2-4 piece is balanced and helpful on any build.
Daedric Trickery can be crafted in Morrowind area, Vvardenfell but requires eight traits. The only major downside to this five piece set in PvP is, the buffs can be redundant. Meaning, you might have an easy source of Major Expedition and having this proc randomly defeats the purpose. Dragonknight’s love the set because major heroism feeds into their sustain loop with Battle Roar passive. But, it’s still an overpowered set for any build especially since you can craft it and back bar the set.
1. Rallying Cry
The best overall five piece PvP set is Rallying Cry because it gives the most efficient buff, applies to solo or group players, and is easy to obtain. The set works by triggering when you critically heal, then within 12 meters all players gain 1650 critical resistance and 300 weapon and spell damage for 20 seconds. Each member that is in the area, will reduce the total by 15 and 83. Meaning, if you are a solo player you experience the most benefit, and it’s reduced from there on afterwards.
What most players do is use this on their back bar with Resolving Vigor or a Restoration Staff. In between combo, as long as Battle Spirit is active, staying on the healing bar will trigger pretty easily. This set has a 15 second cooldown, so you can retrigger the effect before it runs out, giving you 100% up time. Then you can swap to your front bar and run something like Mechanical Acuity or a Proc set and get the benefits of two five piece sets in PvP, without any downside. This then leads you to using a monster helm and a mythic and having a truly efficient and powerful build.
Lastly, Rallying Cry is easy to get in Cyrodiil as PvP rewards. Moreover, players sell these pieces on guild trader for dirt cheap, besides the weapons. Thus, you can get this set and craft Daedric Trickery and avoid any hard to find item set that requires you to grind endlessly. And this is why Rallying Cry is the best overall PvP five pieces and your number one priority in PvP!

How to Choose the Right Set for Your PvP Build
In ESO PvP, you need to balance damage, healing, and mobility to survive. The most important thing in PvP for beginners is to start out with survivabliity heavy focused build. Many long time players will have loadouts to destroy low armor and HP characters. Therefore, stack HP, resource sustain, and mitigation.
As you learn the ropes, then start to pull back on the defensive gear sets. Use more burst vs. sustain damage setups along with burst healing vs. healing over time. PvP Is all about packing in as much damage in a short window as possible, then resetting the fight. Start with survival heavy build, then move to damage as you get better.
