Jewelry Traits are extremely important in The Elder Scrolls Online. The right traits will make your build even more powerful while the wrong traits will be a liability. Don’t worry! In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know so you can pick the BEST jewelry traits for you.

How Jewelry Traits Work in ESO
Jewelry traits provide specific bonuses to your overall stats or combat performance such as increased Health, Movement Speed or Resistances. Jewelry Traits are not the same as Jewelry Enchants, though some Jewelry traits can BOOST whatever enchant you are currently using. Jewelry Traits are found on all Jewelry types including Necklaces and Rings.
Jewelry in The Elder Scrolls Online currently has 9 options for Jewelry traits:
- Arcane – increases your Max Magicka
- Robust – increases your Max Stamina
- Healthy – increases your Max Health
- Protective – increases Spell and Physical Resistance
- Infused – increases jewelry enchantment effectiveness
- Harmony – increases the damage, healing, resource restoration, and shield strength of synergies
- Triune – increases Max Health, Magicka and Stamina combined
- Swift – increases Movement Speed
- Bloodthirsty – increases Weapon and Spell Damage against targets under 90% Health, scaling linearly per 1% missing Health.
Can you change Jewelry Traits in ESO?
YES! If you are able to find a piece of Jewelry but it’s not the specific trait you want there are a few options to change it out for something else. The best option to change a jewelry trait in ESO is to use a Transmute Station. This costs 50 Transmutation Crystals but allows you to change the trait of any jewelry item, armor piece or weapon as long as your character has the new trait researched.
For example, if you obtain a ring with the Arcane Trait but want to transmute it to Infused, your character would need to have previously researched the Infused Jewelry Trait to have that option available.
Another option is to Reconstruct the piece of Jewelry using the Transmute Station. Reconstruction can cost more or less Transmutation Crystals depending upon how many set pieces you have collected already from that specific set.
For more information on Set Collection and Reconstruction see our complete guide here or watch the video below.
How to get more Jewelry Traits
Out in the wild, you can only find jewelry pieces with the default traits: Arcane, Robust, or Healthy. However, you can acquire an Exemplary Jewelry piece with other traits by completing certain quests or objectives in the game. These Exemplary pieces are for research purposes only.
In addition, you can purchase Jewelry pieces with other traits such as an Infused Ring or Bloodthirsty Necklace from other players directly or from guild traders. These player-crafted jewelry pieces can also be Researched to help you learn those traits.
Jewelry Traits Gems
If you are crafting a Jewelry piece yourself you will also need the correct jewelry trait gem. The full list of gems and which trait they create are listed below. To create gems from raw materials you will need to refine at least 10 Raw Materials (such as Pulverized Cobalt) to create 1 of that specific gem.
Trait | Gemstone | Gem Source | Raw Material Source |
Arcane | Cobalt | Deconstructing Arcane Jewelry | Refining Jewelry Metals |
Robust | Zinc | Deconstructing Robust Jewelry | Refining Jewelry Metals |
Healthy | Antimony | Deconstructing Healthy Jewelry | Refining Jewelry Metals |
Protective | Titanium | Daily Dungeon Finder Reward | Harvesting Metal Seams |
Infused | Aurbic Amber | Jewelry Crafting Writs | Psijic Portals |
Harmony | Dibellium | Jewelry Crafting Writs | Daily Dungeon Rewards |
