Choosing the right Mundus Stone is an important part of building your character in The Elder Scrolls Online that is often overlooked. In this guide we’ll review all Mundus Stone options in ESO and discuss which one is the perfect choice for you!

Best Mundus Stones in The Elder Scrolls Online
Mundus Stones offer a unique and permanent bonus to your character such as increased Critical Chance or extra Health. These special structures are found throughout the base game zones of ESO, and each zone contains three total stones spread throughout the map. Players can only have one Mundus Stone boon active at a time with one special exception which we’ll cover later.
How To Improve Mundus Stone Effects
In ESO it’s possible to improve the already-powerful effects a Mundus Stone provides. The way to do this is by equipping Armor Pieces with the Divines Trait. An armor piece with Divines will improve your Mundus Stone potency by anywhere from 5.1% per piece (white quality) up to 9.1% (gold legendary quality).

How to get two Mundus Stones in ESO
As mentioned above, there is an exception to having more than one Mundus Stone, with the craftable set Twice-Born Star. To be able to craft this set, you will need to have researched all nine traits on a piece of Armor, Weapons, and Jewelry and visit the Atelier of the Twice-Born Star crafting site.
You will need five pieces of this set to have the effect of 2 Mundus Stones. You can go up to another Mundus Stone to have a second effect added to your character, but there are some precautions with this set:
- If you remove a piece of Twice-Born Star and have less than five pieces of this set, you will need to visit the Mundus Stone you added with this set to gain its effect upon wearing all five pieces again.
- If you are using Weapons for a Twice-Born Star and aren’t using this set for your back bar, the above problem will occur again.
- You cannot have two of the same Mundus Stones to double your effects; you will have to choose another Mundus Stone with a different effect.

The Best Mundus Stones for DPS Builds in ESO
Dealing as much damage as possible should be the main focus of a DPS build in ESO and these Mundus Stones will help the most towards meeting that goal:
- The Thief- the extra critical chance will boost your damage the highest.
- The Shadow – if your build already has enough Critical Chance then The Shadow can boost your Critical Damage.
- The Lover – best for unorganized groups or pick up groups, the Lover will increase your own Offensive Penetration helping you do more pure damage.
The Best Mundus Stones for Tank Builds in ESO
The priority for Tank Builds in ESO is defense and sustain.
- The Atronach – increased Magicka Recovery is most often the best choice for tanks as it lets you cast more abilities.
- The Lord – this Mundus is best for Tanks who need more Maximum Health.
- The Lady – best used on less optimized races to help max out Physical and Spell Resistance.
The Best Mundus Stones for Healer Builds in ESO
The priority for Healer Builds in ESO is to improve healing potential and manage resources.
- The Ritual – this Mundus offers the strongest buff for healing.
- The Atronach – more Magicka recovery will allow you to heal for longer.
- The Thief – heals can also critically strike and heal for much more when they do so.
The Best Mundus Stones for PVP Builds in ESO
As a PVP build, use your Mundus Stone to add extra power and flexibility.
- The Atronach – more Magicka recovery will allow you the most flexibility to cast buffs and heals.
- The Lover – increased Penetration will allow your skills to ignore more of your opponents Armor.
- The Apprentice or The Warrior – Raw Weapon or Spell Damage is often the best approach.
The Best Mundus Stones for Solo Builds in ESO
For a Solo Build in ESO the best choice of Mundus is typically those that improve your Damage.
- The Lover – increased Penetration will allow your skills to ignore more enemy armor.
- The Thief – for builds that already have enough Penetration focus on Critical Chance instead.
- The Steed – increased movement speed and Health recovery can be a great addition to any Solo build.
