Arcanist Class Masteries Explained
Abyssal Emergence
Abyssal Emergence is an easy choice for DPS Arcanist builds, and applies a simple passive that will trigger anytime you use an Arcanist Ultimate ability. Doing so generates maximum Crux and grants you 666 Weapon and Spell Damage for 15 seconds.
Fate Realigned
Fate Realigned is another good choice for a DPS Arcanist, but does require that you have upgraded the Implacable Outcome passive to Rank 2. With it, you generate maximum Crux, up to once every 15 seconds. Additionally, after this effect triggers you gain 300 Weapon and Spell Damage for 25 seconds.
Unbound Potential
The Unbound Potential class mastery is tied to having Rank 2 of the Fated Fortune class passive. This will increase your overall damage by 30% for 7 seconds. However, this effect will be halved to 15% when you are fighting other players in PvP.
Erudite’s Rigor
The Erudite’s Rigor class mastery is unique in that it upgrades an active ability, Fatewoven Armor, on the Soldier of Apocrypha skill tree. This could be a good choice for Arcanist Tanks, or even players looking for better overall survivability. With it, triggering Fatewoven Armor inflicts Minor Cowardice on your attacker while granting Major Vitality to you and your group for 4 seconds. Additionally, you also gain 1 Ultimate for every Crux you have.
Ink-Scribe’s Verve
Ink-Scribe’s Verve is an ideal class mastery choice for an Arcanist Healer build, and will the effects will trigger passively while you are actively healing your party. When you heal or overheal a total of 100000 Health, you generate a Crux and grant you and your group members Major Force for 10 seconds, increasing Critical Damage by 20%.

Arcanist Best Class Mastery Passive
The Abyssal Emergence passive is extremely strong for Arcanist DPS builds, boosting your Weapon and Spell damage for 15 seconds after casting an Arcanist Ultimate. This could be useful in Solo content as well to burn through bosses. Equally powerful will be the Unbound Potential passive which upgrades your already powerful Fated Fortune passive.
How Class Mastery Works
In order to use the new Class Mastery passives, your character must have hit Level 50 and also leveled their three class skill lines to level 50. Once your skill lines are maxed out, a new skill line option called Class Mastery will appear.
The Class Mastery skill line contains 5 passives. Players have 2 skill points here to spend, allowing you to unlock 2 of the 5 passives.
Class Mastery passives can be reset at any time, allowing you to experiment or change your build on the fly.
Keep in mind that Class Mastery passives are fluid and may change from patch to patch. The developers have stated that as classes become reworked, their Mastery passives will need to be adjusted to compensate.
Is Class Mastery Better Than Subclassing?
The honest answer is: it depends on your class.
Subclassing in ESO is still extremely strong. Subclassing gives you access to two additional passive trees, extra skill options, and the utility that comes with mixing and matching class lines. That is a significant amount of power and flexibility. For focused builds such as DPS Builds, Tank Builds, and Healer Builds, Subclassing is generally going to still be preferred, though not always. Some classes, such as Nightblades and Wardens have exceptionally powerful damage passives through Class Mastery, making their pure class builds a strong alternative for group DPS setups.
