ESO Esoteric Environment Greaves Overview
The Esoteric Environment Greaves is an incredibly powerful defensive Mythic item in The Elder Scrolls Online. This leg armor’s primary effect is to reduce your incoming direct damage taken by a whopping 50 percent! This means that any attack which is considered direct damage, which is true of many attacks in the game especially from bosses, will do roughly half the damage it normally would to your character!
To maintain the effect from the Esoteric Environment Greaves you must also be above 50% Stamina, and your Stamina also drains by about 1000 each time you take direct damage, so Stamina management is important. Therefore, this Mythic works best if your build has some built in Stamina sustain potential, such as on a Nightblade using Siphoning Attacks or a Werewolf using Hircine’s Rage.
Using the Esoteric Environment Greaves is recommended on any build where you wish to greatly reduce your incoming damage such as Tank Builds or Solo Builds for ESO Challenge Difficulty.

How to Get The Esoteric Environment Greaves Mythic
To get the Esoteric Environment Greaves, you will need to discover 5 fragments requiring leads. These five leads need to be dug up as part of the Antiquities system, therefore, you will need the Greymoor Chapter or ESO+. Once unlocked, you must level your antiquity skill lines to level 7, specifically the Excavation skill line. Once done, you can unlock “gold leads” and thus begin hunting this overpowered mythic!
To get any of the five fragments of the Esoteric Environment Greaves Mythic, first obtain the five leads listed below, then, once you have all the leads, make sure you are in the zone of Necrom. Next, open your Antiquities Codex to select the correct Lead and Scry for its location. Once at the correct excavation site, you will be able to Excavate the Lead. Keep in mind that Leads for Mythic Items have a Master Difficulty and need to be carefully excavated from the dig site.
Once you have Excavated all 5 Mythic Fragments, the Esoteric Environment Greaves will be automatically placed into your inventory.
Esoteric Environment Greaves Lead Locations
The Esoteric Environment Greaves is a Mythic Item that requires 5 gold quality leads. The Esoteric Environment Greaves leads are:
- Harvester-Scale Plating Lead – randomly drops from Gorne public dungeon bosses in the zone of Telvanni Peninsula
- Biome-Proof Plating – randomly drops from the Delve Boss in Nchuleft, located in the zone of Vvardenfell.
- Tonal Pivot Joints – randomly drops from the Public Dungeon Group Event of The Forgotten Wastes
- Nonreactive Cincture Lead – randomly drops from secret bosses in the Graven Deep dungeon
- Thras-Crafted Breeches Lead – drops from Z’Baza, the final secret boss in the Coral Aerie Dungeon
More details on where to find each lead can be found below.
1. Harvester-Scale Plating Lead
The Harvester Scale Plating Lead for the Esoteric Environment Greaves can be found by defeating public dungeon bosses in the zone of Gorne in Telvanni Peninsula.
Any boss in the public dungeon of Gorne can drop the Harvester-Scale Plating lead, so you’ll want to kill bosses as quickly as possible and then rotate between spawns to maximize your efficiency here. The easiest bosses to get to are along the northern wall of the zone. These bosses are also the easiest to defeat, so I recommend farming them exclusively. Simply defeat them, then die to respawn at the start of the public dungeon, then rinse and repeat until you have the lead. Remember, it is random, so it can take some time to obtain this lead based on how lucky you are.

2. Biome-Proof Plating
The Biome-Proof Plating Lead for the Esoteric Environment Greaves drops from the Delve Boss in Nchuleft, located in the zone of Vvardenfell.
The hardest part of obtaining this lead may be getting to the delve itself, which is located on the Northern end of the Vvardenfell zone. If you’ve never been here before it’s quite a journey! Simply head East from Seyda Neen or Vivec City, then North, avoiding the giant volcano in the middle of the island.
Once you arrive in the Nchuleft Delve, the lead itself is fairly easy to find. Simply make your way to the end of the Delve and defeat the boss there, called Nchuthand Far-Hurler. The drop is not guaranteed unfortunately, so you may need to defeat this boss several times until you obtain the random drop for the Biome-Proof Plating lead.

3. Tonal Pivot Joints
The Tonal Pivot Joints Lead randomly drops from the Public Dungeon Group Event of The Forgotten Wastes, located in the zone of Vvardenfell.
The Tonal Pivot Joints lead is also relatively easy to obtain and is close to the Biome-Proof Plating lead, so I recommend you do them together. To get started, head to The Forgotten Wastes public dungeon, located along the Northern edge of Vvardenfell.
Once you enter the public dungeon, head southwest to a temple-like structure to defeat the Public Dungeon Group Event. Even though this is called a “group event” it can be easily solo’d by most builds, or if you have trouble, consider bringing a Companion with you.
Unfortunately this is a random drop as well, so you may need to complete this event multiple times until you come away with the Tonal Pivot Joints lead.

4. Nonreactive Cincture Lead
The Nonreactive Cincture Lead randomly drops from secret bosses in the Graven Deep dungeon.
Obtaining the Nonreactive Cincture lead is a bit more challenging than the previous leads. Here, you will need access to the DLC dungeon Graven Deep which is part of the Lost Depths DLC. To obtain the lead, you need to defeat any secret boss. As this is a random drop, defeating any secret boss works to obtain the lead. I recommend farming just the first secret boss, as it can be reached in about 2 minutes after clearing just two packs of enemies.
To reach the first secret boss in Graven Deep, take a right turn after climbing the hill at the zone entrance to enter the Security Depot. Complete the puzzle inside the Security Depot by turning on the control knobs in the correct order:
- Control Knob Gamma
- Control Knob Alpha
- Control Knob Delta
- Control Knob Beta
This will spawn the Mzugru, Security Drone secret boss. This boss has a chance to drop the Nonreactive Cincture lead and is easily killed within the first 5 minutes of entering the dungeon. If it does not drop the lead for you I recommend teleporting out of the dungeon and returning after 5-10 minutes to defeat it again until you get the lead to drop.

5. Thras-Crafted Breeches Lead
The Thras-Crafted Breeches lead can be found by defeating Z’Baza, the final secret boss in the Coral Aerie Dungeon.
This lead may take the longest of all the Esoteric Greaves leads and it also the most challenging. For this one, you must essentially complete the entire Coral Aerie dungeon, including all secret boss encounters. This can be Solo’d, or completed with a Companion or even a full group if you prefer. As you progress through the Coral Aerie dungeon, each area has a secret boss which you must find and defeat as well. These are:
- The Sword Guardian
- The Staff Guardian
- The Shield Guardian
Defeating all 3 Guardians will allow you to attempt the final secret boss named Z’Baza. This can be a long fight if you are completing it solo, so make sure to pay attention to mechanics.

Scrying And Excavating The Esoteric Environment Greaves
To get any of the 5 fragments of the Esoteric Environment Greaves make sure you are in the Necrom zone, then open your Antiquities Codex to select the correct Lead and Scry for its location. Once at the correct location, you will be able to Excavate the Lead.
Once you have Excavated all 5 Mythic Fragments the Esoteric Environment Greaves will be automatically placed into your inventory.
