Update 50 is bringing one of the most exciting additions to Elder Scrolls Online in years: Class Mastery Passives. These are exclusive passive bonuses available only to pure class builds — characters who use all three of their native class skill lines without subclassing. Every class gets five passives to choose from, and you can slot two at a time.

ESO Nightblade Class Mastery Passives List

Nocturnal Inspiration The Night Mistress rewards those who strike without reservation.	Effect: Upgrades rank 2 of Hemorrhage to have a chance to generate 2 Ultimate. This effect can occur once every 0.3 seconds and the chance is equal to your Weapon Critical chance.
An Eye For Exploitation Every strike, every stab, is a step towards execution.	Effect: Increases your Weapon and Spell Damage by up to 2000, based on your target’s missing Health. Reduces your damage taken by up to 20%, based on your attacker’s missing Health. Both effects are halved against targets with Battle Spirit.
Above and Beyond An assassin is only as good as their reputation.	Effect: Increases your Critical Damage and Healing by 25%. This effect is reduced to 5% against targets with Battle Spirit. Increases your maximum Critical Damage and Healing by 30%.
Cutthroat’s Focus This duel will be their last. For you, it’s just another dance.	Effect: Activating a Nightblade ability while bracing causes you to dodge attacks for 0.3 seconds. Whenever you dodge an attack, your attacker’s psyche suffers, increasing their damage taken by 5% for 5 seconds, increasing to 20 seconds against monsters.
Share the Spoils Secrets and coin are tools as sharp as the daggers you wield.	Effect: Upgrades rank 2 of Transfer to grant group members 250 Magicka and Stamina, 2 Ultimate, and doubles the Ultimate you gain when it activates.

Nightblade Class Masteries Explained

Nocturnal Inspiration

Nocturnal Inspiration is a buff to the Nightblade passive Hemorrhage after you’ve invested the skill points to reach Rank 2. Now, you will also have a chance to generate 2 Ultimate based on Weapon Critical chance. If you are looking to generate as much Ultimate as possible then this class mastery passive should be considered for your Nightblade build.

An Eye For Exploitation

An Eye for Exploitation is a great choice for DPS builds, as the first effect will buff your Weapon and Spell damage based on your target’s missing health. This effect caps at 2000 additional damage. Additionally, it will also reduce your damage taken by up to 20%, this time based on missing health of the enemy attacking you. However, these numbers apply only in PvE, and the caps for both will be halved by the Battle Spirit buff in PvP. Do to the damage reduction, you should also consider using this passive on a Solo Nightblade build.

Above and Beyond

Above and Beyond is another strong passive for Nightblade DPS builds, but could also be useful for Nightblade healers and Solo builds. Above and Beyond will buff your Critical Damage and Healing by 25%, and also increases your maximum Critical Damage and Healing by 30%. Like An Eye for Exploitation, these numbers will also be reduced in PvP, capping out at just 5%.

Cutthroat’s Focus

Cutthroat’s Focus allows you to trigger an ‘auto-dodge’, which when successful will also debuff your enemy, increasing their damage taken by 5%. This effect only lasts for 5 seconds, but does increase up to 20 seconds against monsters. Consider using this class mastery passive on your Nightblade tank build.

Share the Spoils

Share the Spoils is another Nightblade class mastery that buffs a class passive. After you unlock Transfer at Rank 2, activating a Siphoning ability while in combat will not only generate more Ultimate for you, but also restore a bit of Stamina, Magicka, and Ultimate to your group. While a DPS build will likely want to prioritze An Eye for Exploitation and Above and Beyond, a healer build might want to use one of their class mastery skill points here for extra Ultimate generation and group sustain.

Nightblade Best Class Mastery Passive

The Nightblade Class Mastery passive Above and Beyond is extremely powerful, providing a bonus 25% Critical Damage and Healing at all times. This passive also increases your maximum Critical Damage and Healing by 30%. Equally powerful is An Eye for Exploitation, which increases your Weapon and Spell Damage by up 2000, and reduces your damage taken based on your target’s missing Health.

How Class Mastery Works

In order to use the new Class Mastery passives, your character must have hit Level 50 and also leveled their three class skill lines to level 50. Once your skill lines are maxed out, a new skill line option called Class Mastery will appear.

The Class Mastery skill line contains 5 passives. Players have 2 skill points here to spend, allowing you to unlock 2 of the 5 passives.

Class Mastery passives can be reset at any time, allowing you to experiment or change your build on the fly.

Keep in mind that Class Mastery passives are fluid and may change from patch to patch. The developers have stated that as classes become reworked, their Mastery passives will need to be adjusted to compensate.

Is Class Mastery Better Than Subclassing?

The honest answer is: it depends on your class.

Subclassing in ESO is still extremely strong. Subclassing gives you access to two additional passive trees, extra skill options, and the utility that comes with mixing and matching class lines. That is a significant amount of power and flexibility. For focused builds such as DPS Builds, Tank Builds, and Healer Builds, Subclassing is generally going to still be preferred, though not always. Some classes, such as Nightblades and Wardens have exceptionally powerful damage passives through Class Mastery, making their pure class builds a strong alternative for group DPS setups.

1. How do you unlock Class Mastery?

You must level all three of your class skill lines to rank 50. Once that condition is met, the Class Mastery passive skill line unlocks automatically.

2. How many passives can you use?

Each class has five Class Mastery Passives. You can slot two at a time.

3. Do they cost skill points?

No. Class Mastery Passives are completely free. You can respec them the same way you respec normal abilities.

4. When does this go live?

Class Mastery Passives are scheduled for Update 50, arriving in June 2026 as part of ESO Season 0.

5. Can I use Class Mastery Passives if I subclass?

No. Your Class Mastery skill line disappears as soon as you enable subclassing for your build.
