The Elder Scrolls Online Explores The Legacy Of The Bretons In 2022!
The name for ESO’s latest 2022 Chapter Expansion is The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle! This new expansion story is centered around the Breton race in the Elder Scrolls Online, as well as the mysterious Ascendant Order faction and the brand new location of High Isle, located in the Systres Isles Archipelago.
2022 Chapter Story Focus
The 2022 Chapter Story for The Elder Scrolls Online will NOT focus on an “End Of The World” invasion or Daedric war story as has been the norm for many recent years in ESO. Instead, the 2022 Story will focus on a more “Elder Scrolls” themed story of political intrigue and factional infighting, concentrating on one of ESO’s playable races that has not yet had a full cultural and historical deep dive: The Bretons.
Players will be traveling to the Systres Isles Archipelago which includes High Isle and Amenos Island as well as more yet to be announced locations. High Isle is rich with Breton history including medieval-themed castles and tournaments grounds – essentially, a resort destination for only the wealthiest in Tamriel. High Isle is also a safe haven for representatives from the Alliance War and a major component of the story will have to do with secret peace talks taking place between the three alliances in efforts to finally end the war between ESO’s three major factions. But there is also one organization that stands against the potential peace talks between the Three Alliances within High Isle: The Ascendant Order. This secret society, led by the Ascendant Lord, will be players’ chief antagonist in the Systres Isles. The Ascendant Order wishes to bring about a new utopia without crowns or thrones, and they’re willing to kill as many as is necessary to make that happen.

New Collectible Card Game: Tales Of Tribute
The High Isle Chapter will introduce a new Collectible Card Game to the Elder Scrolls Online called Tales Of Tribute. In this new in-game experience, two players or one player and an NPC will face off in a strategic resource gathering challenge utilizing player-built card decks. Each player or NPC can contribute two card decks to the game (four total) which are then combined into the game deck. Players can gain decks via the starting tutorial and quests around the world. In-game rewards for successfully playing Tales Of Tribute include new cosmetics, furnishings, gold and transmute crystals.
More information on Tales Of Tribute can be found here: Tales Of Tribute Card And Deck Guide

New Companions
The High Isle Chapter expansion will give players access to two new companions! First there’s Ember, a Khajiit studying to become a mage. She quite naturally pulls from the Sorcerer class in terms of her companion skills but she can do a bit of everything depending on how you build her, including Tank, Heal and DPS. Playing Ember as a ranged Sorcerer companion makes the most sense because she has a nice AOE ultimate, several damage skills and a passive that increases her damage done and critical chance.
Next there’s Isobel the Breton knight in training. Isobel’s skills are modeled after the Templar class which makes her particularly good at both healing and tanking. Many of her skills come with a passive healing effect as you would expect from a Templar and she also has a decent damage shield ability. I tested her out solo against a World Boss and her health never dropped below 80% with the proper equipment and skill load out so she may be replacing Bastion as a my main tank Companion in the future.
Each Companion available in High Isle can do a bit of everything and they are both a welcome addition to the roster of Companions currently available in ESO. Read more about both new Companions, their skill set and how to unlock them in our Updated 2022 ESO Companion Guide!

New Trial Dreadsail Reef
ESO will be adding a new trial zone in 2022 called Dreadsail Reef. This challenging zone is the island home to a group of Maomer Pirates that players will need to vanquish in this year’s newest 12-person trial.

New Overland World Events: Volcanic Vents
The High Isle Chapter zone will include new world events similar to Dolmens or Abyssal Geysers called Volcanic Vents. Players must assist the Druids of High Isle to seal off an active Volcanic vent while it spawns multiple waves of fire-themed beasts and Daedra. Six Volcanic Vents in total are spread out across High Isle and Amenos. These events can be completed by multiple players at once or even Solo if your build is strong enough.

Class Balance Changes in ESO Update 34
All six classes in The Elder Scrolls Online received some major changes to their class skills and passives. I’ve broken this down in detail in the video guide below.
Champion Point Changes in ESO Update 34
Several Champion Point stars have been changed in Update 34. New Slotted Stars have also been added that provide some powerful new options as well.
New CP Stars
- Exploiter: Increases your damage done against Off Balanced targets by 2% per stage up to 10%. Each stage requires 10 Champion Points.
- Force of Nature: Increases your Offensive Penetration by 900 for each status effect your target has. Requires 50 Champion Points.
Existing CP Star Changes
Many Champion Point nodes now only grant a 3% bonus per stage for 2 stages only. Each stage requires 25 Champion Points instead of 5 stages each requiring 10 Champion Points as was the case in update 33. This is a sizable nerf to some of the most popular Champion Point stars. These include:
- Biting Aura
- Deadly Aim
- Master-at-Arms
- Thaumaturge
- Duelist’s Rebuff
- Enduring Resolve
- Ironclad
- Unassailable
The Backstabber CP Star now grants 2% Critical Damage per stage down from 3% Critical Damage per stage.
Fighting Finesse now grants 4% Critical Damage and Healing per stage for 2 stages. The new cost is 25 per stage.
