Important Passive Changes
The Flames Of Ambition DLC is also bringing about important changes to some Weapon Passives, particularly Dual Wield and Two-Handed Weapons. These weapons now give a universal bonus to Critical Chance, Critical Damage, Weapon and Spell Damage and Penetration, meaning these passives work equally well for Stamina AND Magicka builds! Watch the video below to learn more!
Racial Passives Update
In Update 29, every Race in The Elder Scrolls Online also saw significant changes. Some races had additional stats added to make them more appealing in multiple roles or as hybrids. For example, High Elf got an additional 258 Weapon Damage and Orc got an additional 258 Spell Damage. Argonians now have bonus Maximum Stamina in addition to their Health and Magicka. Even Imperials got a buff this patch! For all the details make sure to watch the video below and check out our Racial Passive Guides Section.
Champion Points 2.0
The biggest update found in Update 29 / Flames Of Ambition by FAR is the massive rework of the Champion Point System in ESO. The previous 9 Champion Point constellations have been condensed into 3 main Constellations packed with nearly 3 times the amount of CP Stars available to unlock! As a result, many more options are now available for builds and the theory-crafting possibilities are nearly endless. The new CP cap has also been raised to the maximum of 3600 points. And before you ask, YES I am in the process of updating all builds to the new system.
For a Complete Review of CP 2.0, make sure you check out our video guide below, and for all Descriptions and Locations of all 99 CP Stars make sure to check out our Written Guide.
Armor Changes
The Flames Of Ambition DLC is bringing out some major changes to how Light, Medium and Heavy Armor function in The Elder Scrolls Online. This is because each Armor Type now has some innate Benefits. Light and Heavy Armor now also have innate Penalties. For example, Light Armor now has the following Bonuses and Penalties:
Light Armor Penalties
Each piece of Light Armor does the following:
- Increases Damage Taken from Martial Attacks by 1%
- Increases the cost of Block by 3%
- Decreases Damage Done with Bash by 1%
Light Armor Bonuses
Each piece of Light Armor does the following:
- Reduces Damage Taken from Magical Attacks by 1%
- Reduces cost of Roll Dodge by 3%
- Increases movement speed while Sneaking by 5%
- Reduces the cost of Break Free by 5%
- Reduces cost of Bash by 3%
Even MORE changes involving Armor Passives have gone into effect, incentivizing more varied types of builds including 7 of one armor type, so be sure to review all the changes in the video below:
New Status Effects
Update 29 will also see the introduction of 3 brand new status effects to the game. These new Status Effects apply to the following damage types: Bleed, Physical, and Magic Damage.
- Bleed Damage has a chance to apply Hemorrhaging. It deals slightly weaker damage than Burning over 4 seconds and applies Minor Mangle to the target while afflicted.
- Physical Damage has a chance to apply Sundered. It deals minor damage and applies Minor Breach for 4 seconds.
- Magic Damage has a chance to apply Overcharged. It deals minor damage and applies Minor Magickasteal for 4 seconds.
Increased Character Stats
All characters have had their base Health increased to 16,000, up from 8744 and their Magicka and Stamina has increased to 12,000, up from 7958.
- These changes were made to offset the loss of the 20% stat increases gained from the original Champion Point system, where spending 100 points in a tree would increase the base stat of the tree by 20%.
- Characters now also take 15% reduced damage at base, to reduce the loss of the mitigation from the Champion Point system.
- Characters now also start with 20 Weapon and Spell Damage at level 1 and gain an additional 20 per level, up to 1000 at level 50.
Travel Outside House
This is an awesome quality of life change for ESO, letting you travel to your front door instead of loading inside your home. This will be a great option if you typically use a starter home simply as a gateway to a major city center, saving you from loading inside your house if all you planned to do was leave! This option now appears any time you attempt to fast travel to your house.

Permanent Major Gallop
In Update 29, the Buff Major Gallop (+30% Mount Speed while riding) is being removed from the Rapid Maneuvers skill and instead moved to the first passive in the Alliance Skill tree. Not only that, but this passive can be used even outside of Cyrodiil! This means that any character can get access to free and permanent Major Gallop once they reach level 10 and unlock their first few alliance ranks. Check out the video guide below to see how this can be done in 30 minutes or less!
