Unique Weapons are some of the most powerful (and unusual) options for combat in The Outer Worlds franchise and they are back and better than ever in The Outer Worlds 2!
This guide breaks down every Unique Weapon revealed so far, explains how they work, and why you’ll want to hunt them down!

What Are Unique Weapons in The Outer Worlds 2?
Unique Weapons are specially named, powerful weapons in The Outer Worlds 2 that make combat much more interesting! Unique Weapons come in all shapes and sizes including 1 Handed Melee, 2-Handed Melee, Pistols, Long Guns, Heavy Weapons and more. Unique Weapons often follow the same general design as the game’s common weaponry but with unique visuals or stats.
In the first Outer Worlds, most unique weapons were not particularly powerful and served more as Collector’s Items for completionists. But in The Outer Worlds 2, Unique Weapons are some of the most powerful hardware you can get your hands on and should not be missed!

Armageddon

Armageddon is another science weapon revealed for The Outer Worlds 2. This weapon is described as firing masses made up of little arms that stick to enemies or the environment. These masses continue to hit their targets over and over again until they are destroyed, making it an unusual and aggressive option during combat.
Big Bang

The Big Bang is one of the largest and most devastating science weapons in the game. It uses material harvested from the rifts to shoot a giant ball of energy capable of vaporizing everything in its path. Because the ammunition for this weapon is extremely rare, it is a weapon best reserved for dangerous situations where maximum firepower is required.
Boarst Blaster

The Boarst Blast is a unique weapon that fires out large tumors like grenades. In fact, these tumors can explode just like a grenade. The tumors, if not exploded can be eaten by the player for a small bit of health though they are toxic. Overall, the firing speed looks slow but the tumor spread large so it could be a good AOE type of weapon. However, the range fall off on the Boarst Blaster seems to be it’s biggest issue and it might just be a fun weapon to use rather than a meta-defining one.
Bullet Blender

The Bullet Blender uses ammunition from your inventory, thus not requiring the player to reload. What makes this weapon unique is that using different ammunition causes the weapon to fire differently. As you can imagine, this might be y our go-to weapon when ammunition is plenty for a weapon type you do not use and you can’t afford to reload frequently in combat.
Planet Killer

The Planet Killer is a high-powered Sniper Rifle with a ton of mechanics. It uses plasma charges, has a slow rate of fire, and a long reload time, but the second highest damage only to the Big Bang.
Firstly, you charge the weapon using a hand crank. Once you aim down sights, there is a visual indicator that lights up with fire when you are charging for maximum damage. With the time dilation system, it’s easy to rip off huge headshots (weak point) and nuke enemies clear across the map.
However, the weapon has major downsides, as it’s meant to be a one-and-done type of shot. If you’re at max range, you can get off multiple rounds before enemies close the distance. Moreover, you’re not going to to want to use this sneaking around because it’s very loud. But Obsidian has put some flare into even the traditional sniper rifle setup and this looks great.
Popup Gun

One of the most humourous weapons, showing Outer Worlds 2 political theme is the Popup Gun. This gun fires drones that distract enemies with corporate advertisements, jingles, and slogans. Imagine walking through Las Vegas getting harrassed by endless amounts of people trying to hand you advertisements? Well, that’s the Popup Gun except with drones.
An interesting mechanic of the weapon is you can explode the drones upon reload. So while it has a silly concept, it might be effective and a bit silly. The Outer Worlds 2 is likely to keep poking fun at capitalism and corporate greed and this weapon is one way to do that!
Rookies Reward

A weapon players are likely to use a lot in the Outer Worlds 2 is Rookies Reward. This gun levels up throughout your playthrough. Each time you level up, an explosion of confetti happens around you, alerting you of increased power. Rookies Reward looks to be a decent assault rifle with decent rate of fire, damage, and range. Thus, you can always fall back on a ballistic classic that stays caught up in power and level while you use it.
Shrink Ray

The Shrink Ray makes a return in The Outer Worlds 2, but this time it has been upgraded in a major way. Instead of shrinking enemies for just a short period of time, it now reduces them permanently to the size of a sprat. Once they are shrunk, you can run over them, step on them, or even kick them to finish the job. This change was made because players wanted that full fantasy of not only miniaturizing their enemies but also crushing them underfoot.
Spectrum Dance Saber

The Spectrum Dance Saber is a melee science weapon that introduces rhythm-based combat. When you attack with this weapon, your swings can be synced to a musical beat. By maintaining that rhythm, you earn stacking bonuses with each hit you land. The more accurate your timing, the stronger your attacks become, giving melee players a stylish and highly interactive way to fight.
