How to Recruit Aza

Aza is found on the planet Dorado in the Decommissioned Autonomous Extractorium, located on the western side of the planet map. As you approach the building, you’ll hear Aza cry out and upon investigating, find her trapped within. If you release her you can then have her join your party.

Aza’s Abilities

Aza’s unique Companion Ability is called Spread the Message which fires explosive charges out in a cone in front of her, dealing heavy physical damage and staggering enemies.
She also has two unique traits: A Chaotic Purpose, which allows her to hold two companion ability charges and recharge them faster and Hidden in Plain-Sight, which makes it so factions need a higher bounty against you before pursuing you as an Outlaw.
Spread the Message (Companion Ability)
Aza uses her wrist mounted explosive gadget, firing an explosive charge in a cone towards the location. Enemies hit will take heavy physical damage and are staggered.
Aza’s ability must be fully charged and you must be targeting an enemy for it to be activated.
A Chaotic Purpose (Companion Trait)
Aza’s companion ability charges faster than other companions and can hold 2 charges at once.
Hidden in Plain-Sight (Companion Trait)
While Aza is in the party, factions with neutral or higher reputation need a higher bounty before they consider you an Outlaw and pursue you for crimes.

Aza’s Quest & Rewards

Aza’s quest is expected to dive into her shadowy past and reveal the motivations behind her secretive behavior. You’ll likely be forced to decide whether to help her expose a deeper conspiracy or bury it for safety. While rewards haven’t been revealed yet, a unique stealth or hacking-related perk is likely, along with major story consequences depending on your path.
In The Outer Worlds 2, personal companion quests are key to unlocking companion loyalty and abilities. Choosing to ignore a companion’s quest or making decisions that go against their values can cause them to abandon your party during critical moments.
Obsidian has confirmed these quests will return, so keep an eye out for more info on Aza’s personal journey and reward structure.
Best Builds & Companion Synergies

Recommended Builds for Aza in The Outer Worlds 2 include:
- Melee brawler or berserker builds
- Combine with Tristan for a double-melee powerhouse.
- Pair with Marisol to create an aggressive stealth/melee combo.
The best way to build Aza is a melee character who focuses on aggression and high survivability. There are two companions in the Outer Worlds 2 that are focused on melee and you could include Tristan in your party for a double-melee focus. However, Marisol at range could give the player a big advantage when it comes to open or close quarters fighting.
Aza Weapon and Armor Upgrades

Aza’s primary weapon is the Knife and she uses Light Armor for defense. Both Aza’s weapon and armor have multiple upgrade options you can choose from throughout the game.
Aza’s weapon and armor have both basic and advanced upgrade options. You must choose from one basic and one advanced upgrade, though you can change these upgrades freely throughout the game via the Party Upgrades menu at a Workbench.
Aza’s Personality & Lore

Aza is torn between faith and freedom, offering a morally gray perspective. She may clash with lawful characters like Tristan. However, it might be interesting to see how these clashes play out and if there is a climactic conclusion to companion interactions.
