Welcome to Dragonwilds 1.0! In this guide we review every change, new feature, skill update, and bug fix in the RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0 launch update, sourced directly from Jagex’s official patch notes.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds left early access and launched version 1.0 on September 15, 2026. The full release arrived simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Jagex Launcher, with full crossplay across all platforms from day one. The 1.0 update is the largest single content drop in the game’s history, adding a new endgame region, a final boss, Rune and Dragon tier gear, a new weapon type, sweeping combat changes, and over 2,665 confirmed bug fixes.
This guide covers every confirmed change in the 1.0 update, organized by category, sourced directly from Jagex’s official launch notes.
Runescape: Dragon Wilds 1.0 Update Summary
The 1.0 update adds the Scorned Wilderness region, Kuldra the God-Eater as the final boss, Rune and Dragon tier gear, Wands as a new weapon type, Sprint Attacks, Visceral Attacks, the Special Attack Bar system, two new Magic spells (Enfeeble and Vengeance), Home Teleport for Runecrafting, Crossplay, console support, the Storage Ledger for base management, and moderation tools. The team fixed 2,665 bugs during the gold certification process.

New Platforms and Crossplay
The 1.0 launch marks the first time RuneScape: Dragonwilds has been available outside of PC. Console support now covers PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X and S, with PC continuing through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Jagex Launcher.
Full crossplay is live from day one. Worlds can be toggled as crossplay in the in-game menu when loading them. Crossplay worlds appear in the world browser. Players can now also join worlds through invite codes, entered in the world browser screen and shown in the pause menu. Dedicated servers now support crossplay as well.
New Region: The Scorned Wilderness
The Scorned Wilderness is the 1.0 endgame region and the location of the game’s final story quest, Regicide. The region is divided into two distinct areas. The Hub is a new buildable zone where players can establish a base for raid preparation. The Raid area does not permit building, because, as Jagex puts it, of the big dragon.
The Scorned Wilderness introduces a new drop system: Disordant Residue drops from enemies during the raid and is used in crafting top-tier gear alongside the other new 1.0 materials listed below.

New Boss: Kuldra the God-Eater
Kuldra is the final boss of the Scorned Wilderness and the conclusion of Kuldra’s Saga, the main story arc that has run through the entire early access period. She is the most powerful enemy in the game at 1.0 launch.
Killing Kuldra guarantees a drop on every successful kill, including the Dragon Kiteshield and the Scorned Wilderness Cape. Subsequent runs into the Scorned Wilderness, if successful, yield pieces of Dragon armour including the Dragon Scimitar and Dragon Crossbow. Unlike previous Dragon General encounters, Kuldra does not drop a Dragonfire Shield.
New Enemy Types
The 1.0 update adds ten new enemy types across the Scorned Wilderness and surrounding content:
- Goblin Thug
- Goblin Poisonshot Archer
- Garou Exile
- Garou Lightning Berserker
- Rotsworn Reanimator
- Skeletal Blightshot
- Black Knight Crusader
- Blazing Black Knight
- Stormpact Demon
- Black Dragons
New Gear: Rune and Dragon Tier
Two new gear tiers arrive with 1.0, sitting above the current Adamant ceiling.
Rune Tier Gear
- Rune Helmet
- Rune Platebody
- Rune Platelegs
- Rune Shield
- Rune Dagger
- Rune Mace
- Rune Greataxe
- Rune Greatsword
- Rune Sword
- Rune Scimitar
- Rune Warhammer
- Rune Crossbow
Ranged Gear
- Black Dragonhide Coif
- Black Dragonhide Body
- Black Dragonhide Chaps
- Magic Longbow
- Magic Shortbow
Magic Gear
- Ancestral Hat
- Ancestral Robes
- Ancestral Robe Legs
- Ancestral Wand
- Ancestral Staff
- Kuldra’s Wrath
Dragon Tier Gear
Dragon gear is earned through repeat successful runs in the Scorned Wilderness:
- Dragon Full Helm
- Dragon Platebody
- Dragon Platelegs
- Dragon Med Helm
- Dragon Shield
- Dragon Scimitar (confirmed by Jagex: “The Dragon Scimmy is real, chat!”)
- Dragon Kiteshield (guaranteed Kuldra drop)
- Scorned Wilderness Cape

New Weapon Type: Wands
Wands are an entirely new magic weapon type added with 1.0. They provide a more mobile, fast-paced alternative to Battlestaves, trading raw damage output for fluidity in movement and combat. Wands still apply the same knockdown, burn, and slow effects from Air, Fire, and Water magic. The tradeoff is that players can move more freely while using wands, while staves remain the choice for higher damage output at range. The Ancestral Wand and Ancestral Staff are the first confirmed wand and staff at the new gear tier.
New Materials and Crafting
The 1.0 update introduces the Advanced Spinning Wheel as a new processing bench separate from the standard Spinning Wheel. Items from the standard Spinning Wheel cannot be used in the Advanced Spinning Wheel. New materials added with 1.0:
- Runite Ore (requires Adamant Pickaxe or higher)
- Luminite Ore (requires Adamant Pickaxe or higher)
- Magic Wood (requires Rune Logging Axe or higher)
- Black Dragon Hide (crafted at the Advanced Tannery)
- Runic Powder (crafted at the Grindstone)
- Disordant Residue (dropped by enemies during the Raid)
- Harmonised Compound (crafted in the Kiln)
- Ground Dragon Tooth (crafted at the Grindstone)
- Vis Fibers (crafted at the Advanced Spinning Wheel)
- Draconic Vis Wax (crafted at the Brewing Cauldron)
- Vis Cloth (crafted at the Loom using Vis Fibers and Draconic Vis Wax)
Note: Magic Tree Seeds are arriving with the 1.0.1 update in October, allowing players to grow their own Magic Wood rather than gathering it from the field.

Skill Updates
The following changes and additions were made to the Dragonwilds skill trees. See our Updated 1.0 Skill Trees for more details.
Attack
- Added Sprint Attacks: Unlocks the ability to perform a unique sprint attack after sprinting for a short distance. Requires leveling the Attack skill.
- Added Enchant Weapon: Water: Enchants the current melee weapon with Water magic. Strikes deal Water damage and occasionally create healing orbs to restore health. Costs 15 Water Runes and 5 Astral Runes, 300 second cooldown.
- Added Tempest Shield Upgrade: Increases the duration of Tempest Shield.
- Enchant Weapon spell durations increased to 5 minutes.
- Tempest Shield base cooldown reduced to 45 seconds.
Ranged
- At level 60: increased chance for Enchanted Crossbow Bolts to trigger their effects on hit.
- Spectral Arrows duration increased to 5 minutes.
- Snare cooldown reduced to 45 seconds.
Note from Jagex: Ranged is earmarked for further attention in updates between 1.0 and the Luminance content update this winter.
Magic
- Added Runic Refund: 30% chance to preserve runes when attacking with magic.
- Added Enfeeble: Weakens the attacks of the targeted opponent. Costs 20 Astral Runes and 20 Water Runes, 75 second cooldown.
- Added Vengeance: Reflects enemy damage back at the attacker. Costs 20 Astral Runes and 10 Earth Runes, 60 second cooldown.
Mining
- Added Divine Rock: Drop 5 ore on the ground to create a personal mining vein. Costs 100 Earth Runes and 100 Nature Runes, 1500 second cooldown.
- Added Accelerated Veins: Increases the chance for Divine Rock veins to drop Gems.
Woodcutting
- Added Axtral Projection Upgrade: Now conjures three spectral axes simultaneously, cutting through trees in a wider cone area in front of the player.
- Wood Weight Reduction moved to level 88, now reducing wood weight by 50%.
Construction
- Added Eye of Oculus Upgrade: When destroying pieces using Eye of Oculus, recycled materials now automatically magnetise into the player’s inventory.
- Added new building piece category: Pets, starting with Perches for Birds.
Artisan
- Added Storage Ledger: Interact with this new base structure and any items in your inventory that have an existing stack in any linked chest are automatically sorted and deposited in one action. This replaces the previous system of running around the base interacting with individual chests after each expedition.
- Added Overdrive: A new Skill Spell that casts on mechanical-based processing stations to boost their processing speed, equivalent to Superheat but for non-fire-based stations.
- Magical Mending moved to level 56. Base durability restoration has been reduced slightly to encourage use of repair benches in normal play, while still functioning as a field repair option in a pinch.
- Added Superheat Upgrade: Increases the duration of Superheat.
- Added Overdrive Upgrade: Increases the duration of Overdrive.
- Added Magical Mending Upgrade: Increases both the radius and durability restoration of Magical Mending.
Runecrafting
- Added Home Teleport: Teleports the player safely back to their claimed bed. Costs 15 Law Runes, 900 second cooldown. Confirmed by Jagex as a long-requested feature: “Yes, at last.”

Combat Changes
The 1.0 update makes the most significant changes to how combat feels since the game launched in early access. Jagex describes the full set of changes as broad and far-reaching, driven by player feedback.
Controller Remapping
The Primary Attack button on controller is now R1/RB/R. Special attacks have moved to R2/RT/ZR.
Camera Deadzone
A deadzone has been added to the camera. The player can now move freely in the middle third of the screen before the camera begins to follow. This improves sprint movement, evasion during combat, and navigation on Agility courses.
Parry Changes
Parrying now restores 50% of the player’s maximum stamina on a successful parry, increasing the risk and reward of timing it correctly. Successfully parrying also unlocks a Visceral Attack follow-up, an optional additional strike the player can execute, dodge out of, or replace with a Weapon Special Attack in that moment.
Special Attack Bar
Special Attacks now consume from a dedicated Special Attack Bar rather than stamina. The bar recharges slowly over time, limiting how frequently Special Attacks can be used but making each individual use more powerful. Weapons like the Titan’s Wrath and Greatsword Special hit harder under the new system. Sprint Attacks also open combat sequences, allowing an aggressive opening strike before transitioning into a standard combo.
Action Cancelling
Players can now cancel attacks, gathering actions, and spell casting by dodging or blocking mid-animation. This means committing to a slow attack wind-up or a long spell cast no longer locks the player into the full animation. Additionally, several spells including Enchant Weapon, Windstep, and Surge can now be cast while moving.
Spell Hotkeys
The Skill Spell wheel now has four hotkeys mapped to the triggers that auto-cast the first four entries in the Radial Menu. The Spellbook in the menu allows players to reorder spell slots to suit their preferences.
Leggings of Lightness
The Feather Fall special ability has been removed from the Leggings of Lightness. It has been replaced with an ability that makes Windstep cost zero runes to cast while the leggings are equipped. Carry weight capacity bonus is unchanged.
Abyssal Whip Changes
The Abyssal Whip now requires a recipe found in the Umbral Sands to unlock its Masterwork Weapon potential. An intermediate version, the Abysmal Whip at Power Level 4, is available while progressing toward the recipe. The Masterwork Abyssal Whip upgrades the weapon to Power Level 7.
Ammunition Swapping
Ammunition can be swapped on the D-Pad or Scroll Wheel, allowing quick switching between rune types or arrow types depending on the equipped weapon. This was added in the 0.12.1 update and carries forward into 1.0.

Quality of Life and UI Changes
- Building system performance has been significantly improved. Large builds that previously took minutes to load now load substantially faster.
- LOD (Level of Detail) improvements across the game world. A further fix is targeted for the 1.0.1 update in October.
- Tooltips can now be scrolled through for longer text.
- The Quest Menu sidebar can be collapsed to view the map in full.
- Active Lodestones are now visible on the map rather than only in the Lodestone menu.
- Map icons grow in size when hovered and display a small tooltip.
- The Dire Wolves and Garou of Ghornfell have had their damage reduced slightly to make the early Ghornfell experience less punishing for new players establishing a foothold in the second area.
- Ava’s Accumulator no longer plays a sound when equipped.
- Console TV HDR note: some Smart TVs may auto-apply game or HDR picture settings that result in extra bloom or brightness. Jagex recommends adjusting Contrast, Colour, and Contrast Enhancer in the TV’s picture settings.
Moderation
Player reporting tools have been added to 1.0. Players can now report problematic worlds, rude players, griefers, and hackers directly in-game. All reports are moderated by human beings, with no AI involvement, and can result in temporary world and player bans.
Twitch Drop
From September 15 through October 4, 2026, players can earn the Dragonwilds Twitch Badge by watching 30 minutes of RuneScape: Dragonwilds on any Twitch stream.
Bug Fixes
Jagex confirmed that 2,665 bugs were found, logged, and fixed during the process of completing the 1.0 gold build and console certification. The following community-reported bugs are specifically confirmed as fixed:
- Fuzan occasionally getting stuck at 0 HP in the Fight Caves and failing to respawn.
- Ranged ammo drops from enemies no longer fail to magnetize to the player.
- The Nightmare Crucible did not end correctly when completed with an active Buddy summoned.
- The Red Desert Cape Vestige is now correctly included in the drop table.
- Chests in Dowdun Reach that did not respond to interaction on another player’s world.
- Tree canopies not disappearing when a tree was felled.
- Reduced probability of trees failing to topple when felled.
- Building over cliff edges causing rapidly changing weather.
- Single axe swings that could both split a tree and remove the stump, causing accidental stump removal.
- Decorative Gems can now be placed on Foundations and Flooring.
- Players on mounts can now eat or drink from the hotbar and the inventory.
- Dying to the Kalphite Queen in certain circumstances caused the Gravestone to become stuck inside the arena rather than spawning outside the entrance.
- Water Barrel, Rain Catcher, and Compost Bin delete buttons reverted from hold-to-delete back to a single tap.
- Kothaar and Kalphite damage values now correctly scale with Hard Mode difficulty.
- Trunk Totems that could not be destroyed.
- The Yew Farming Plot roof blocking the Humidify Skill Spell from reaching adjacent plots.
- Watermelon Jerky maximum stack size increased from 50 to 99.
- The Bow of Elidinis can no longer use Bleed, Poison, or Fire Arrows.
What’s Next: Luminance
Jagex confirmed that 1.0 is not the end of RuneScape: Dragonwilds but the beginning of a multi-year journey into Ashenfall. The next content update, Luminance, is planned for winter 2026 and will include a new building kit and additional content. Jagex teased further combat changes in Luminance with the hint “Magic rocks. Literally.”
RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0 Update FAQ
1. What is the biggest new addition in the 1.0 update?
The Scorned Wilderness region and Kuldra the God-Eater are the headlining additions. Kuldra is the final boss of the Kuldra’s Saga storyline and the most powerful enemy in the game. The region includes a buildable Hub area and a non-buildable Raid zone.
2. What is the new gear ceiling in 1.0?
Rune tier gear and Dragon tier gear are the two new tiers added with 1.0, both sitting above the previous Adamant ceiling. Dragon gear is earned exclusively from successful runs in the Scorned Wilderness.
3. What is the new Special Attack Bar system?
Special Attacks now draw from a dedicated bar that recharges slowly over time rather than consuming stamina. This makes individual Special Attacks more powerful but limits how often they can be used, and buffs specific weapons like the Titan’s Wrath and Greatsword Special.
4. What changed about Magical Mending?
Magical Mending was moved from level 27 to level 56 and its base durability restoration was reduced slightly to encourage normal use of repair benches. A Magical Mending Upgrade adds back increased radius and restoration, putting the upgraded version slightly above its previous position overall.
5. Is the Abyssal Whip still craftable?
Yes, but the path changed. An intermediate version called the Abysmal Whip at Power Level 4 is craftable now. The Masterwork Abyssal Whip at Power Level 7 requires a recipe found in the Umbral Sands to unlock.
6. What is the Storage Ledger?
The Storage Ledger is a new base structure added in 1.0. Interacting with it automatically sorts any items in your inventory that have an existing stack in any linked chest into those chests in a single interaction, replacing the previous system of manually interacting with each chest individually after returning from an expedition.
