Latest Update: March 12, 2026
Solasta 2 (also referred to as Solasta II) is a tactical role-playing game developed by Tactical Adventures, set in the same fantasy universe as Solasta: Crown of the Magister (the previous game). It is built around turn-based, grid-based combat using the Dungeons & Dragons 2024 SRD ruleset, with a continued focus on strict rules implementation and tactical clarity.
Solasta II was officially revealed when Tactical Adventures announced it during The Game Awards, marking the event as a major milestone for the series and highlighting new features and updates for fans of tactical RPGs and exploration gameplay.
While retaining its tabletop-inspired combat foundation, Solasta 2 expands significantly on narrative structure, exploration, and systemic travel. The game moves away from loosely connected adventurers and instead grounds the story in a shared party identity, with greater emphasis on cinematic presentation and world reactivity. Early access is planned for March 12, 2026.

Development and Studio
Solasta 2 is developed by Tactical Adventures, an independent studio with fewer than 40 internal developers. The project is fully self-financed, allowing the studio to maintain full creative control over design, narrative direction, and production priorities.
The relatively small team size influences the game’s scope and design decisions. Rather than attempting to compete with larger studios on sheer content volume, Tactical Adventures focuses on mechanical depth, systemic consistency, and replayability rooted in tabletop design principles.
Development Roles
The studio’s founder and leadership team oversee the overall creative vision of the Solasta universe. A game director coordinates narrative design, worldbuilding, cinematics, and voice acting, ensuring consistency across story, dialogue, and presentation.
Systems designers are responsible for implementing the D&D 2024 ruleset, including class mechanics, feats, combat systems, and user interface behavior. A dedicated community lead hosts regular developer livestreams, gathers feedback, and communicates development updates directly to players.
Publishing Partner
Solasta 2 is published in partnership with Kepler Interactive. Kepler provides marketing support, publishing expertise, and coordination with platform holders, including console manufacturers.
Tactical Adventures retains full ownership of the game and final decision-making authority over all creative and production-related matters. The partnership is intended to amplify the game’s visibility without compromising its independent development model.
Setting and World
Solasta 2 takes place on a new continent known in the common tongue as Neocots, also referred to in-world as Naos. The continent is described as vast, politically fractured, and shaped by long-standing conflicts tied to powerful forces that can corrupt even well-intentioned individuals.
The setting continues the broader Solasta universe while introducing new regions, cultures, and factions rather than revisiting the primary locations of the first game. Thematically, the world emphasizes instability, contested power, and the consequences of magical and political ambition. This instability is further heightened by the impending tide—a looming, overwhelming wave of corruption and danger that the protagonists must confront, underscoring the urgency and gravity of the challenges ahead.
Key Locations
One of the first major locations players encounter is the city of Kaiam, situated on a northern peninsula of the continent. The peninsula geography is a deliberate design choice, limiting early exploration paths and gradually opening the world as the campaign progresses.
As players move beyond the initial region, they encounter a wider range of biomes, settlements, and faction-controlled areas, each contributing to the continent’s sense of scale and political complexity.

Solasta 2 Story
Solasta 2 centers its narrative on a tightly bound party rather than a group of unrelated adventurers. Players create a party of four characters who are siblings within an adoptive family. The siblings were raised together in an orphanage, separated as adults, and reunited at the start of the campaign following the death of a key figure. A funeral serves as the key event that brings the party back together and sets the main story in motion.
The party shares a fixed family surname, Colwall, which anchors the characters within the narrative. First names, appearances, classes, and backgrounds are fully customizable, allowing players to define each sibling’s personality and role.
Backgrounds represent each character’s life after leaving the orphanage and influence dialogue flavor and narrative context rather than branching the main storyline. Because the story and cinematics are built around all four siblings being present, the permanent death of a main party member results in a game over and requires reloading the encounter.

Party Structure and Companions
The core party in Solasta 2 always consists of four player-created characters. This structure ensures that all major story beats, cinematics, and narrative interactions are designed around the same group throughout the campaign.
In addition to the main party, Solasta 2 introduces fully developed companions who can temporarily join the group during specific parts of the story. Other party members play crucial roles in healing, supporting, and tanking during encounters, highlighting the importance of teamwork and group dynamics within the party.
Companions
Companions can increase the active party size to five or six characters. They can be recruited, dismissed, and later re-recruited depending on story progression and player choices. Companions level alongside the main party and possess their own abilities, combat roles, and narrative relevance.
Unlike the main party, companions are not fully customizable. Their kits and progression are designed to support specific story roles and gameplay functions rather than open-ended character building.
Companion Death Rules
Companions use death saving throws and can permanently die. Their deaths do not end the campaign and are treated as meaningful narrative events rather than simple mechanical failures.
Some companions use simplified or NPC-style spellcasting systems rather than full player-class spell lists, allowing the designers to tailor their abilities more tightly to their intended role.
Voice Acting and Dialogue
All major story NPC dialogue in Solasta 2 is fully voice-acted in English. This includes cinematic scenes, key quest interactions, and narrative conversations, continuing and expanding the studio’s approach from Solasta: Crown of the Magister.
To support a large volume of procedural content, overworld travel events are presented as text-based encounters. This allows for significantly more reactive and conditional events without the production constraints of full voice recording.
Confirmed Voice Cast
The following voice actors have been officially confirmed by Tactical Adventures and are tied to major story characters.
| Voice Actor | Character Voiced |
|---|---|
| Amelia Tyler | Shadwyn |
| Ben Starr | Rickard |
| Devora Wilde | Deorcus |
| Ellen Thomas | Anvesia |
Additional Voice Acting Notes
Voice acting is English-only. Text localization is planned for multiple languages. Player-created characters speak during cinematic story scenes, while overworld events intentionally remain unvoiced to preserve scope and replayability.

Ruleset and Combat Systems
Solasta 2 implements the Dungeons & Dragons 2024 SRD ruleset. Earlier demos did not include these rules due to timing and legal availability. Armor and weapons play a crucial role in determining a character’s effectiveness and survivability in combat, influencing both their defensive and offensive capabilities.
Combat remains turn-based and grid-based using square tiles. Movement is more fluid than in the first game but remains structured to preserve tactical readability and consistent rule application. Players will encounter a variety of enemies and monsters, each presenting unique tactical challenges that require careful planning and adaptation during battles.
Core Combat Features
Surprise applies initiative penalties rather than granting surprise rounds. Stealth attacks resolve before initiative without granting additional turns. Ready actions are expanded and context-sensitive, allowing a wider range of actions to be prepared.
Weapon mastery is fully implemented, including effects such as Vex, Nick, and Graze, adding additional tactical considerations to weapon choice and positioning.

Solasta 2 Character Creation
Character creation in Solasta 2 lets players build a full party of four adventurers using the rules and options provided by the Dungeons & Dragons 2024 SRD framework the game implements. Players choose ancestry, class, ability scores, background, and visual customization to define each character’s role, story, and mechanical strengths.
The six available classes are Fighter, Rogue, Wizard, Cleric, Paladin, and Sorcerer. Sorcerers wield innate magic, drawing on natural or ancestral power rather than learned spells. Paladins are defined by their Paladin’s oath, a core aspect of their identity that guides their magical and martial abilities. Clerics can work miracles by channeling divine power through prayers and blessings.
Classes
Classes define a character’s core role, abilities, and combat style. Solasta 2 uses the 2024 SRD classes as the basis for its available options and allows multiclassing, meaning a single character can gain levels in more than one class if they meet the required ability score prerequisites.
For the early access launch, six classes are confirmed:
These represent a mix of martial and spellcasting roles, providing frontline combat, utility, support, and spellcasting capabilities. Developers intend to add more classes post–early access, with a goal of including all 12 core D&D classes by the time the full release arrives.
Each class also includes subclasses that expand and specialize a character’s abilities as they level up. Subclass access is tied to the SRD content available and any homebrew additions the developers have implemented.
Multiclassing is confirmed as a supported feature, enabling builds such as a Fighter/Cleric or other hybrid classes as long as the character meets the associated ability score requirements.

Ancestries
Ancestries (races) determine a character’s heritage, starting traits, racial abilities, ability score adjustments, and sometimes language proficiencies. At early access launch, the four confirmed ancestries are:
- Human
- Elf
- Dwarf
- Halfling
Developers may add more ancestries in updates leading up to and beyond full release – community content lists and previews also reference additional ancestries such as Gnomes, Tieflings, Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, and Dragonborn as possible future options based on SRD availability and community predictions, though these are not confirmed for launch.
Each Ancestry comes with distinct features such as movement speed, darkvision, resistances, racial abilities, and sometimes weapon proficiencies.
Ability Scores and Backgrounds
The Solasta 2 Character creator allocates ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma) according to the rules of the 2024 SRD. These scores influence class effectiveness, skill checks, combat success, spellcasting, and more.
Players also select a background for each character. Backgrounds provide narrative context and mechanical benefits such as skill proficiencies, additional languages, or tool proficiencies, enriching roleplay and mechanical depth much like in tabletop D&D. (Backgrounds are part of typical SRD 5.x character creation and expected to function similarly here.)
Visual Customization
Solasta 2’s Character Creator includes a visual customization suite, allowing players to adjust facial features, hairstyles, colors, and other appearance details. The art director has explicitly stated that character visuals are meant to tell a story through appearance and are significantly improved from Solasta’s first game thanks to Unreal Engine 5 and enhanced character models.
While sliders and more robust customization options are mentioned as work in progress in developer updates, they emphasize that players will have more expressive visual creation tools than before.
Progression and Campaign Scope
Solasta 2 is designed as a structured, story-driven campaign rather than an open-ended sandbox. Progression is tied to narrative advancement, exploration, and combat encounters.
Level Cap
The planned level cap for the full game is level 10.
Campaign Length Targets
Early access content is expected to provide approximately 8 to 12 hours of gameplay. The full release targets 40 to 50 hours depending on exploration, difficulty settings, and player decision-making.
World Map and Exploration
Solasta 2 replaces node-based travel with a fully explorable hex-based overworld inspired by tabletop hex-crawling. Each hex represents a potential point of discovery rather than a simple transition.
World Map Features
Terrain types affect movement costs, with roads, rivers, bridges, and impassable mountain peaks shaping travel routes. Fog of war gradually clears as players explore, while access to certain regions is gated by story progression.
World Map Generation
The overworld is built using internal Unreal Engine tools. Designers assign biomes, terrain features, and points of interest, which are then procedurally generated into a 3D map. This allows rapid iteration and large-scale changes without redrawing the map by hand.

Travel, Time, and Rest
Travel is divided into daily watches, creating a sense of time pressure and logistical planning.
Normal movement consumes movement points safely, while Force March allows additional travel at the risk of exhaustion. Exhaustion follows D&D 2024 rules and can severely impact combat effectiveness.
Resting and Resources
A single ration feeds the entire party for a long rest. Foraging can replace ration consumption, and certain spells can provide food when resources are scarce. Long rests restore abilities and remove exhaustion.
Lighting States
The overworld visually reflects the time of day, including dawn, day, dusk, and night, with lighting conditions influencing event presentation and atmosphere.
World Events and Encounters
Exploration frequently triggers non-combat overworld events alongside traditional combat encounters. These events are presented using adaptive 3D diorama scenes rather than static illustrations.
Events respond to biome, time of day, party composition, skill proficiencies, spells, and story state. Outcomes can include lore discoveries, resource changes, exhaustion, skill checks, or combat.
Factions and Points of Interest
Settlements and landmarks display faction affiliation and available services on the overworld map. Factions influence quests and regional dynamics without forcing exclusive alignment paths.
Icons indicate services, active quests, and faction presence, helping players navigate the continent’s political landscape.

Solasta 2 Demo
Solasta 2 features a free demo on Steam that was released prior to Early Access to give players a vertical slice of the game’s combat, exploration, and systems. This demo was available in conjunction with Steam Next Fest and remains a playable standalone experience crafted to showcase how the game feels before the full early access launch.
Demo Content and Structure
The demo puts players in control of a party of four premade level 3 characters, rather than using the full character creation system that will be available at Early Access. This selection allows players to experience a cross-section of tactical combat options, including subclass features and level 2 spellcasting.
The adventure is set around and beneath the coastal village of Tor Wen, where players encounter both exploration and combat scenarios. The scenario is designed as a standalone adventure and does not impact or spoil the main campaign narrative of Solasta 2.
Because the demo begins at level 3, it showcases mid-tier abilities and spells rather than early basic attacks, giving a better sense of the game’s tactical complexity.
Platforms and Release
Solasta 2 is planned as a staged release with early access used to refine systems and content.
Early Access
Early access will be PC-only, available exclusively on Steam, with a release date of March 12, 2026.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer is planned during early access and is built into the game’s architecture from the start.
Full Release Goals
Console versions are targeted for the 1.0 release or shortly afterward. No Mac version is planned.
Confirmed Not Planned at Launch
The following features are not planned for early access or initial release:
- Naval or sea-based overworld travel
- Mounts for overworld movement
- Full overworld weather systems
- Modding tools or campaign builders during early access
- Ironman mode during early access
