ESO Season Of The Dragon Event Dates For 2023
The Season of the Dragon Celebration begins Thursday, January 26 at 3PM GMT, and runs until Tuesday, February 7 at 3PM GMT.
To participate, you must have access to the Elsweyr, Dragonhold, Wrathstone, or Scalebreaker DLCs, which are all part of ESO Plus or available for purchase via the Crown Store.
How To Start The Season Of The Dragon Event
The easiest method to start the event is by obtaining the introductory quest called “Bane of Dragons,” available for free within the in-game Crown Store.
Players can also travel directly to the zone of Northern Elsweyr to the city of Rimmen and speak to Captain Samara. She is located near the event tent just South West of the city gates.
ESO Bane Of Dragons Quest
After speaking with Samara in the zone of Northern Elsweyr, players can start the Bane Of Dragons quest to kick off the Season Of The Dragons special event. Next, players will need to speak to Apprentice Taz who tasks them with completing three sub-quests:
- The Trial Of Endurance
- The Trial Of Knowledge
- The Trial Of Bravery
The Trial Of Endurance
To Start the Trial of Endurance portion of the Bane Of Dragons quest you must first travel to the Rimmen Necropolis Public Dungeon. This is located just just south of the city of Rimmen. Once inside, make your way to the back of the dungeon and enter the Tomb Of The Manes. From here, pick up the Elsweyr Defense Standard which looks like a green banner. You will then be prompted to defeat any Elsweyr dungeon boss to complete this first trial. Luckily there is a dungeon boss directly ahead in the same room! Simply defeat this Public Dungeon boss to pass this first trial.
The Trial Of Knowledge
The Trial Of Knowledge portion of the Bane Of Dragons questline is also simple and straightforward. To start, head to your map marker in the middle of the zone near the town of Stiches. Here you’ll need to find a tablet buried in the dirt which should also shown with it’s own map marker. Once you have the tablet, simply bring it to Apprentice Taz who is at the top of the rocks within the town center. After turning in the tablet, Taz will ask you three questions related to Dragon lore in the Elder Scrolls Online which you must answer correctly.
The Trial Of Bravery
To complete the Trial Of Bravery portion of the Bane Of Dragons questline in The Elder Scrolls Online you’ll need to kill a dragon and loot their Dragon Heart. The Dragon Heart is a quest item so it cannot be traded or purchased from other players. There are plenty of Dragons flying over Northern Elsweyr, in fact killing Dragons is what most other players will be doing in the zone already.
To find an active dragon check the skies and also check your world map for the moving Dragon Icon. Once the Dragon touches down you and other players will be able to begin combat. Be careful! Dragons are one of, if no the most dangerous World Bosses in the entire game so make sure to have plenty of other players with you and load up on defensive and healing spells. Ranged attacks are also quite important as many times Dragons will hover in flight or perch on a high rock where they cannot be attacked with melee skills.
Once you’ve completed the Trial Of Endurance, the Trial Of Knowledge and the Trial Of Bravery return back to Captain Samara near Rimmen to receive your Reward Box and Experience!
How To Earn Season Of The Dragon Reward Boxes
Glorious Elsweyr Reward Boxes can be earned by finishing the first Daily Quest in Northern or Southern Elsweyr, or from the first Sunspire Trial Weekly Quest completed that day.
Each Glorious Elsweyr Reward Boxes may contain the following:
- Guaranteed one of the following items:
- A green, blue, or purple Elsweyr sellable treasure
- Guaranteed one of the following items:
- A blue or purple Elsweyr overland set item
- A chance for one of the following:
- Elsweyr crafting style item
- Elsweyr crafting motif style page
- Anequina, Pelletine, Dragonguard, Shield of Senchal, and New Moon styles
- A chance for one of the following:
- Transmutation Crystals, Dragon’s Blood, Dragon’s Plunder, Dragon’s Rheum, or Dragon’s Bile
- Elsweyr treasure map
- Dragon document recipes
- NEW Claw-Dance Acolyte armor style page
Even More Rewards!
Regular Elsweyr Reward Boxes can also be earned by participating in the following activities:
- Finishing the Bane of Dragons introductory quest
- Repeating Daily Quests
- Slaying Dragons/world bosses in Northern or Southern Elsweyr
- Defeating Wrathstone and Scalebreaker DLC dungeon bosses
- Opening treasure chests
- Opening safeboxes
- Looting objects such as barrels, crates, etc.
- Looting Psijic portals
- Cracking open Thieves Troves
- Harvesting crafting resource nodes
Each Regular Elsweyr Reward Box may contain the following:

Season Of The Dragon Event Tickets
During the Season Of The Dragon event, you’ll receive one Event Ticket for the first Daily Quest completed in Northern Elsweyr and one Event Ticket for the first Daily Quest finished in Southern Elsweyr. This means you can earn up to 26 Event Tickets during this event!
Remember: You can only hold up to 12 Event Tickets at any one time!
The Impresario event merchant will exchange Event Tickets for the following rewards during Season Of The Dragon:
- All three Passion Dancer Blossom pet fragments
- Chartreuse Lily Petals
- Enchanted Silver Flute
- Mystical Sheet Music
- The first Passion Muse personality fragment
- Bottle of Silver Mist
- Bound style pages for the following:
- Claw-Dance Acolyte Armor Pack
- Impresario Group Repair Kits
- Companion Guild Commendations
Season Of The Dragon Daily Quests
Daily Quests completed in the zones of Northern Elsweyr and Southern Elsweyr both count towards Season Of The Dragon event rewards! You’ll need to complete these every day to earn Event Coffers as well as Event Tickets. For Northern Elsweyr, the Daily Quest givers can be found in the city of Rimmen. For Southern Elsweyr, the Daily Quest givers are located in the main city of Senchal. Maps for both locations are provided below.
ESO 2023 Morphing Collectible
The Season of the Dragon Celebration will serve as your first opportunity to obtain this year’s Morphing Collectible: the Passion Dancer Blossom pet. Additionally, you can get your hands on the first of three morphing fragments for this pet, the Bottle of Silver Mist, which serves as one of the ingredients to build the Passion’s Muse personality.
