Among the many mysteries and wonders of the Starfield universe, the question of playable races has intrigued fans since the very beginning. What types of Aliens can you encounter within the game and what about alien races as playable options in Starfield?

Are there Alien Races in Starfield?
There are plenty of monstrous alien lifeforms roaming the planets of the Starfield universe for the player to interact with, mainly down the barrel of their most trusted weapon. However intelligent and friendly Alien life is currently nowhere to be found within the game. The main storyline of the game centers around ancient and advanced artifacts that hint towards a technologically superior and perhaps hostile alien race at the center of the story.
Starfield Race options
As of the initial release of Starfield, players can only choose to play as humans. While this choice may seem limited, it offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the role of a spacefaring human character exploring the vast unknown. Settlement, expansion, and exploration are key themes and story elements in Starfield’s main storyline, and discovering the past to understand why humanity had to leave our cozy home planet in the first place.
As a result of this narrative approach by Bethesda, it doesn’t leave much room for an alien to take center stage in. However, given what’s been hinted at by Todd Howard, it’s possible that, in time, official DLC expansions or updates may introduce additional playable races. Until then, humans are the sole player option.
Community Modding
The Starfield gaming community is brimming with excitement and anticipation, and many players hope for expanded race options in the future. While Bethesda has not yet officially announced plans to introduce alien races as playable options, the community remains optimistic.
Modders, known for their dedication to enhancing and expanding gaming experiences, have wasted no time in responding to this desire for diversity. In the first week of Starfield’s launch, modders have already created over 700 mods on NEXUS, demonstrating their commitment to making the game more immersive and enjoyable.
These mods represent a vibrant and creative aspect of the gaming community, and they have the potential to provide players with alternative race choices beyond humans for the time being.
