Dyeing your armor is an excellent way to personalize your character and make them stand out in the Elder Scrolls Online. This guide will explain how to dye your armor and costumes, the costs involved, and how to unlock new dyes!

How to dye armor in ESO
The easiest way to dye armor in The Elder Scrolls Online is by using an Outfit Station. These are found throughout Tamriel in most major cities. You can also dye costumes using an Outfit Station.
The Outfit Station
The Outfit Station is where you need to go if you want to dye your armor and costumes. It can also be used to change your Outfit Styles to make your worn armor pieces appear different. You can find one in most major cities in Tamriel. Simply open your map and look for the symbol below.

To dye your armor, you must first approach the station and interact with it. From here you can start selecting dye colors and then apply them to the various dye slots on each piece of armor. Note that most pieces of armor in ESO also have 3 dye channels. Channels represent different areas of an armor piece’s possible color scheme.
For example, a Helmet might include one channel for the visor, another channel for the Helmet’s top piece and the final channel for a feathered section at the back. Each channel can be dyed a different color.
You can easily spend hours experimenting and finding your perfect look. The outfit station will calculate the gold cost on the bottom left of the outfit screen to apply your new coat of paint. More on that below.

How much does it cost to dye your armor in ESO?
The cost of dyeing armor in ESO varies depending on the type of armor you’re dyeing. Generally, it costs 50 gold to dye one piece of armor. However, the cost can increase depending on the rarity of the color applied.
Outfit Tokens also come in handy here as these can sometimes come as rewards in crates or can be purchased on the Crown Store. Outfit tokens allow you to dye an outfit for free. If you have one of these use it wisely on a premium dye job that would cost you hundreds or even thousands of gold to normally apply.

How to unlock new dyes in ESO
Speaking of premium dyes there are several ways to unlock new dyes in ESO. Some dyes can only be acquired by completing quests or achievements, while others can be purchased from the Crown Store. The easiest dyes to unlock are listed below.

How to dye costumes
Dyeing costumes is similar to dyeing armor. To dye a costume, you must first visit the Outfit Station and interact with it. Once you’ve done that, select the costume you want to dye and choose the color you want. You can dye costumes in the same way you dye armor, which means that you can mix and match colors to create that unique look.
Dyeing costumes is free to users of ESO Plus.
